1. Rand McNally TND750 Featuring Screen

Rand McNally TND750 Featuring Screen

The sixth-generation TND truck is called the TND 750. There is a new design inside and out.

Brand: Rand Mcnally

👤The gps is garbage. I'm returning it and going back to where I came from. The screen is so small that you can't see the icons or mileage in a glance. It can't say "speed warning", but it can say "peeed warning" and "beep warning". The route is terrible. It wants to make you do a U turn and go back, even though avoid U turns is activated. The 2.0 format is a big swing and miss.

👤After my 740 stopped holding a charge, I purchased the TND 750 on Amazon. I use the gps for two years and I like the motor carrier references on the screen. I rely on my gps and atlas to follow my routes. I assumed the 750 was the updated version and that the charging issues of the 740 had been solved by Rand McNally. No, no, no! The 750 lasted me for a day. It wouldn't charge at all, and I tried different cables and the plug provided in the package. It wouldn't work while plugged in, just kept flashing low battery and shutting off. I had to pay $425.00 for a 740 at the truck stop. I will be returning the junk to Amazon for a refund. Amazon's return policy is very easy to use. Stay away from the 750. JUNK!

👤I am running my 740 next to Gps so I can follow the trails that I have saved because I could not transfer my trail and address book because the 740 says the files are corrupted. My last two 740s were great, but only last 15 months before they stop working. The paper road atlas is a waste of money, and it should be returned to the TND730.

👤I wish I'd checked the reviews before buying it. I had a great little unit, the TND520, for 7 years before it started to get beat up. I thought it was time to retire. I said it was a piece of shit, so let's get the all new bigger model. The battery won't hold a charge, can barely hear the volume when it's talking. The first one I got was replaced by Amazon, but the second one had the same problems. I will not be buying R MCN again.

👤The hardware is still better than the previous model, but I don't trust it more. Routes on alternates are less than satisfactory. I have not run into any problems like others have. It is supposed to be an updated version of the 740. The magnet is a lot better than they said. I don't see it falling even if I hit it. I have been doing this differently and not leaving plugged in the entire time. I had to plug it back in after 7 hours. I still have my car. It is at the end of its life with the battery. I want to test the new one before I start running them. The 750 is more accurate than the 740. Since I don't want to use it's delay feature, I have had to adjust mentally with travels time a bit more. The navigation screen is the same. Unless I want to check for an update, I don't keep it connected to the internet. I have no idea about those features.

2. ACR ResQLink View Buoyant Personal

ACR ResQLink View Buoyant Personal

The 406 MHz Emergency Distress signal with 121.5 MHz Homing signal is used to send distress signals to Search and Rescue forces around the world. A small, rugged, lightweight personal locator beacon with attachment clips, belt clip, oral inflation tube clip, straps and lanyards for increased wearability for hikers, boaters, campers, climbers, RVing and all your outdoor adventures. Use the optional 406Link testing subscription to send pre-canned non- emergency self test and gps test messages to multiple contacts via text message and email. Global Coverage using the 3 satellite constellations of COSPAS-SARSAT, which sends your distress message directly to Search and Rescue agencies worldwide without the need for a rescue monitoring center Multiple visual signals are ensured by the use of a Strobe light that is bright as well as an IR Strobe light. Multiple visual signals are ensured by the use of a Strobe light that is bright as well as an IR Strobe light.

Brand: Acr

👤Do not buy this beacon if you see that it is being sold by a company called Orbital Satcom Corp. When we tried to set up our beacon, our satellite registration was rejected. ACR and the NOAA found out that Orbital Satcom Corp is illegally refurbished beacon from the UK. The beacon won't work in the US. I flagged Orbital Satcom Corp with Amazon because I am concerned that more of these illegal beacon may be on the market. We rely on this beacon to save our lives when we are fishing off shore without cell service. If we had an emergency, we would not have been saved because it was not working. $375 is spent on an emergency product that will not work and it has been illegally reprogrammed.

👤A brand-new sealed unit was received. The self-test failed immediately. ACR initially was very responsive, but then told me that they don't know when they will be able to provide a replacement, and that all their stock is allocated to filling new orders. Good luck getting a warranty replacement if you buy one of these. This is not acceptable on safety equipment.

👤The product was received in a timely manner, but the battery only has 4 years and 3 months left. When you don't get 5 years on the battery, don't advertise.

👤As long as I don't die, I can call for help. I bought my first one 5 years ago and it was very easy to use. The good news is that this is the second one I ordered, but I returned the first one because it was already 6 months old. The second one is 6 months old.

👤This is for Christmas. The unit tried to conduct their self test. The unit failed the test. I contacted ACR. I will make a new update based on how they respond. This review needs to be updated. The new unit was free of charge and passed both the basic self test and the gps test. I will increase my rating but my faith in this unit has been shaken because I am not the only one to have a brand new unit fail the "Basic Self Test".

👤There is a date on 1/3-21. It's not aGPSPLB so far. It might work as a drawer handle, but only if it is a drawer handle. The device is as expected. After returning the drawer handle, there was a little delay.

👤I chose the slightly more expensive version because it has a nice screen that gives you instant acknowledgement that the unit is on and working. I only tested it and it comes with a carrying case, you can attach it to your belt or loop. I ordered mine from the United Kingdom. I was unable to register my first unit for the warranty because the date of manufacture was missing. I was sent a new unit after contacting both Orbital Satcom and ACR. Make sure the date of manufacture is on the box.

3. Rand McNally TND550 Truck Specific Interest

Rand McNally TND550 Truck Specific Interest

Maps navigation software includes Lifetime Maps for the USA and Canada. Audio/Video Speakers have a watt output. Microusb connection The wireless connection is: 3.0 b/g/n. The screen has a resolution of 480x854 and has a touch panel with a 250 lux battery capacity. The performance processor core is a quad-core. +14 to +140F.

Brand: Rand Mcnally

👤It is hard to see the speed and time on a gps. There is too much on the screen. It is hard to hear the sound of the speaker. It was easy to return because I bought it on Amazon.

👤This is the third map I have owned. I like this one a lot. The navigation is very easy to use and change on the go. It is easier to setup and program a new model. I have an older, noisy truck and the power button can be difficult to use after the unit has been off for a while. I have found that turning it off overnight helps the battery life and charging port work.

👤I have had two of those. The three have been problematic. They seem to last a long time before they are worn out. Developing shorts that prevent charging/powering the unit is an example. Factory resets were required for all three of the failed updates. All three of them experienced successful updates, which deleted location bookmarks. Two experienced updates disabled the ability to export bookmarks, preventing the user from backing up all locations programmed into the unit, therefore causing the user to lose all of that data the next time the unit fails, is replaced, or is updated. The route planning in cities is terrible. The gps doesn't know about many streets, truck stops, and long-term construction zones because the maps aren't kept up to date. Tech support from Rand McNally is useless. They replied to my email with a detailed description of the problem, and then closed the support ticket, marking the issue resolved. I would be on hold until I got an answer. When adding a location bookmark by coordinates, the saved location name includes the coordinates in parentheses after the title I gave the location. It is not a big deal, but it is annoying, and it is worse because the new and improved TND450 didn't do that. The older model of the TND450 has a worse route than the newer model of the TND550. The maximum volume of the TND450 is larger than the maximum volume of the TND550. It was a shame that Rand McNally didn't use testing, quality control or competent tech support. Both the TND 450 and the TND 550 are flawed and poorly executed, but they have a lot of potential.

👤How can a gps unit lose power? The charge light is on but the battery is low. This is my second device by rand McNally and I am very disappointed.

👤The fine line of convenience seemed to have been lost by the man. One version is too big and the other is small. There is no size or value in this one.

👤The volume was very low. I put addresses that the gps can't find. The product is not updated.

👤The gps does some really stupid things. I am used to it from Mcnally.

👤I could not hear the voice prompt because it was so low. Maps were not bad.

4. Lowrance Reveal SplitShot DownScan Plotter

Lowrance Reveal SplitShot DownScan Plotter

User's guidance. The anti barking device doesn't work in dogs with hearing problems and they don't recommend it for dogs under 6 months old. Training is required to be effective. It's a feather in the cap. It is easier to find fish. Fish light up on your display with the help of the Lowrance CHIRP and DownScan images. The gps locator The gps plotter makes it easy to navigate to your favorite fishing spot. HOOK reveal "x" models do not include a map. There is a shot of transpiring. The fish finding capability of wide-angle high CHIRP sonar and the high-resolution images of fish-holding structure from DownScan Imaging make SplitShot perfect for anglers who want the best views below the boat. If you want to get the best sonar image every time, you need to spend more time fishing and less time tweaking your settings. HOOK reveal's SolarMAX display has excellent clarity and daylight visibility, so you can enjoy crisp and clear views of your display no matter the conditions.

Brand: Lowrance

👤The internal map of the images shown in advertising. This is a lie for the unit. There is no internal mapping on this unit and no cards that will show a map on it. Nothiing, no down loads. The visual advertisng is false. The box that came with the 5X showed a map of a marine area. Lowrance is putting a lesser model into a box. The instructions that came with this unit are not true. It has a blank white screen with aGPS and you can make your way back to them when you need them. No map! Come on Lowrance, stop the cheap nonsense and tell them what they're really getting. Not happy! Lowrance sent a vague 4 page fold out instructions. If you want to find out how to use the 5X Lowrance, you have to go to the internet and watch a video that someone posted on the 7 Hook reveal unit. I advise you to stay away from cheap Lowrance. I gave up on the 5X and bought a Hummingbird because of the additional problems I had with it. The manual for the Hummingbird covers everything. Never again Lowrance.

👤If you've used fish finders before, this unit is not too difficult. I was disappointed in how the gps plotter worked. I didn't buy it for that. Downscan, Side Scan, and Sonar all work well. Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase. I took the boat out today to do some mapping on a new pond, but it only showed a white screen with water temp and speed, but no sonar, down Scan, or anything else. Can't connect to transducer. I'm not sure what to do, I'm unable to locate any information on how to fix this. My rating was lowered to a 1 because it was too soon to be having an issue with a $400 unit. Will change rating if I find a solution. I fixed it! It was a stupid easy fix to get it back to working condition. There is a button in the menu that tells you why it was turned off. I know that I never turned it off, but I didn't know it existed. I said it was an easy fix. I contacted Lowrance six weeks ago and have not received a response.

👤It is not a fish finder. There was no mapping. If you want to plot it yourself, you have to pay an additional fee. It is only good for speed temp and depth. No other details were given. The pictures are not the same. Don't be fooled.

👤I use a hook on my kayak. The unit has helped me find and catch fish quickly. I get about 2 days on the water with a 10ah battery. If you fish ponds and smaller bodies of water, you should get yourself a 32gb sd card. You will be able to make your own charts.

👤I don't like the Lowrance Hook 5 reveal and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. It came with everything I needed to get it working but the main reason is that it wouldn't send a signal to the fish finder. The water temperature, the speed, and the return on the signal were all shown. I thought it was because I put it in the wrong place. I moved the transducer but it still didn't come back. The instructions that came with the Lowrance were not as good as the ones that come with the Apple iPhone. I had to drill 8 screws into my kayak to install the plastic holder that I ordered. After placing the Transducer in the water, there was no signal. I went to the best place in the world for trouble shooting, and found out there is an on/off button for the Sonar signal. The mine was turned off. A depth finder has a on/off button. It's stupid. I have a large plastic apparatus attached to my Kayak that I think my Transducer was working well. Someone on the internet was helping Lowrance. If you want to be sure that your signal is working from the factory, don't buy. I would have bought a Hummingbird unit if I waited too long to return this unit.

5. Garmin ECHOMAP Chartplotter GT24UHD TM Transducer

Garmin ECHOMAP Chartplotter GT24UHD TM Transducer

The components include the Echomap Uhd 64Cv. With Bluechart G3. The Gt 24Uhd-Tm Transducer, Power/Data Cable, and Flush Mount are for the U.S. Bright, Sunlight-readable 6” combo. There is a GT 24 transducer for high-definition scanning and a high wide CHIRP traditional sonar. LakeV G3 inland maps have up to 1' of a lake in their coverage. Network support for autopilot, fusion-link audio system and engine data is provided by Nmea 2000 and NMEA 0183. The quick-release bail mount is easy to use. The quick-release bail mount is easy to use.

Brand: Garmin

👤I mounted it with a rotating puck and the brackets are flimsy, I'm worried it's going to vibrate too much when I bang through chop in my classic whaler. Anyone who's ever ridden a classic whaler in chop knows what I'm talking about. We haven't had it on the water yet. I'm worried about it. It might have to be reinforced. It was kind of odd. My 1994 Humminbird was replaced by this. Bombproof screen. I can't compare the fish finder features to anything else, but they seem amazing to me, given what I'm used to. The charts look great. The charts I've been using from the NOAA are not as good. It's got a depth map for almost every lake around me. It's perfect for an inland fisherman. I was able to modify the chart display and set routes. The bells and whistles are crazy. I have a phone that I use for everything, but I also have an SD card that I put in it to save my depth data, and now I'm thinking about new boat upgrades, like an NEXA2000 RPM interface for my classic outboard and anAIS radio. I mostly bought it for the chartplotter and fish finder capabilities, which are outstanding so far.

👤We don't take the boat out without it. The maps are very accurate and the lake has a lot of submerged timber and sand bars.

👤I use the garmin 63cv for the maps and the smaller ff on my kayak. I fine the fish just as I do the extension.

👤It is very easy to use. Lowrance 5x was junk.

👤You can see the screen in the sun light.

👤Easy install and clear instructions make it work. It was a good experience, better than I expected.

👤The directions are hard to understand. The technical writing needs to be changed. The unit is easy to install.

6. Humminbird GRP Precision GPS Receiver

Humminbird GRP Precision GPS Receiver

Even in lower signal areas, AS GRP provides accurate position fixes. Provides more accurate position fixes than the industry standard. The series was 1100, 900, 800, and 700. Fast position fixes are accurate within 2.5 meters. The position fixes are more accurate than the industry standard. It is 1.5 inch high and comes with 20' cable. There is an optional atenna stem with a 1 inch 14 thread count stem.

Brand: Humminbird

👤I depend on my humminbird for many things. I lost the gps function. The puck was bad because all the connections were intact. I was able to get a new puck and gps and it was easy to install. My fishing season was saved by it.

👤I only bought the Helix 5GPS combo unit for navigation, I don't fish. I was not happy with the satellite signal I was getting. It took me a long time to get a fix, and it was weak and intermittent. I got this product. There is a power connection to 12V DC and a data connection to the Helix 5, but it wasn't plug and play. It was worth both the work and money. I put this thing on the bow of my boat, and it's been there ever since. I get a signal within seconds of turning the unit on, and the signal is strong, even after it's been sitting for a while. It's unfortunate that one has to buy this to make up for the weaknesses of the gps unit's internal antenna, but I think it's worth it. I bought this antenna because I bit the bullet.

👤It brought my bird back to life. The units internal gps was malfunctioning. I plugged in the external gps puck and it got satellite signal very fast. You can mount it closer to your transducer for more accurate waypoint positions.

👤The original antenna that I bought was from the 998C SI unit. After two years, the antenna stopped working. The new antenna needed a software update, but worked fine after that. It's installed on my boat and is working. The system can receive a 3D Fix quality signal in seconds. It shows my location on the map. I would recommend this product to others. I've been using this unit for 13 months. Two weeks ago it was working well, but now it's not seen by the 998C unit. It's a piece of gear that only works for a month.

👤My humminbird was brought back to life with this gps antenna. The accuracy of my machine has been improved. If internal gps cuts in and out, it's highly recommendable.

👤When the electronics have aGPS internally, you have to purchase an external antenna. My problem of lost signals was cured by it.

👤My Dad had to change his receiver because it was old. His older one was wired differently, but this one still worked with his interlink system. There was enough wire to wire it where you needed it. Make sure this one works with the finders you are currently using. It's best to double check before spending money because Humminbird has been updating their plugs with newer items.

👤It works better than the internal gps on my Hummingbird 788 unit.

👤It works, just what I need after I installed a canapé.

👤It works perfectly with my graph.

7. Garmin Keyed Assist Touchscreen Chartplotter GT24UHD TM

Garmin Keyed Assist Touchscreen Chartplotter GT24UHD TM

The 7” touchscreen is bright and Sunlight-readable. There is a GT 24 transducer for high-definition scanning and a high wide CHIRP traditional sonar. Bluechart G3 coastal charts have integrated data. Panoptix live Scope is supported. Other units with similar capabilities are ECHOMAP Plus, ECHOMAP UHD and ECHOMAP Ultra. The included components are: GT 24UHD- t-shirt, power/data cable, tilt/swivel mount, protective cover, and a transducer.

Brand: Garmin

👤The device is advertised on the website as having auto guidance, but it does not come with it out of the box. You will need to pay $350 to get G3 Vision charts and install the ActiveCaptain app on your phone, but you can connect the device to your phone. Even after paying $350, you can't upgrade the device internal charts to G3 Vision charts, even if you have an authentic MicroSD Class 4-10 or smaller. I'm returning this device because GARMIN established a criminal monopoly on the MarineGPS market and are finding all kinds of creative ways to charge $1100 for a device that costs less than $80.

👤I gave it a one star because it was delivered on time. It took some time to install but that was expected. The transducer is not difficult to mount. The five machine screws were not included in the mount. You might think you can just buy the screws and be on your way. The cable is already routed to the transom from the center console which was very time consuming. If I wanted to buy the screws I would have to pull the cable and take the transducer to the hardware store to find the correct ones. This is a poor quality case. How can you be sure that you can do the complex tasks if you can't do the simple things?

👤The unit was great. It is easy to navigate and use the features that Garmin is famous for. Do not buy from Prime Marine. I was sold a used unit that didn't work. They gave me 7 cents back on the 800$ item. You have been warned. Amazon has your back.

👤Works well. Maps were used to navigate in the fog. Shows tide, temp of water, speed, and many more. It is very easy to use with a touch screen. Highly recommended.

👤The data cannot be changed.

👤It's taking some time to learn as a new user. Graphics are great. I like the 7 inch screen. Looking forward to mastering this device. Excellent suggestion from our friends!

👤It was used for fishing. It was very easy to use. Would definitely recommend!

👤The product looks good on my console.

8. Apple MX542AM A AirTag Pack

Brand: Apple

👤The pros are: There was no weight issues. There will be no issues with this on keys, bags, etc. A simple design that doesn't draw attention. The software is already on the current version of the IOS. The water has a rating of Ip67. It can take the rain even if it is in a deep puddle. It can hold against Mother Nature. It is painless to replace a battery. There is a Thank you Apple for not making your own battery. The battery is CR2032. These are usually cheap and last a year. You can find them at the checkout lines of both Walmart and Amazon. There is a The highlight of this device is the precision location feature. This feature will show you where the tracker is if you are in the area of your Airtag. I put my Airtag in a book under my bed, and my phone gave me visual directions to where to go. The speakers on it began to make a noise when I got near it. Sight and sound can be used to find your Airtag. One block away from the location, I left my Airtag near my colleague. I was shown where I left it when I turned on the lost mode. My Airtag was able to connect with my colleague's phone because of it. By putting it in lost mode, you can see where it was last seen by other Airtags and Apple phones. There is a My colleague was able to quickly scans my Airtag, revealing the contact info that I approved. The process took less than 20 seconds for him. There is a Your Airtag doesn't store your location data for public viewing. All information about your location is confidential. There is a If someone puts an Airtag near you, your phone will notify you if there is an Airtag nearby, even if you don't have an Airtag. It is the same as the one ring from the Lord of the Rings. There is a If you leave the device in a public place, the speakers on it will grab your attention and strangers will notice. There is a All Airtags that are separated from their owners will play a sound to alert people. There is a You don't need to have it on for your phone. It won't affect the battery usage of the phone. There is a You can have more than one Airtag on your phone. There is a If you borrowed a friend's bag, you can stop the alert on your end so it won't keep bothering you. There is a The Airtag's chime will be playing when I ask my Siri where my Airtag is. There is a The scanning feature works on all phones. The Airtag will reveal your contact info if you have an android device. Cheers to that. There are pros and cons. You will need to accept the scratch on the Airtag. The only advice I can give is to stick with the white color because it will hide some of the worse scratches. There is a It is small enough to fit in a wallet but large enough to be on a key chain. There is a The cost of the accessories is almost the same as the Airtag itself. There is a This will not work if you don't have an operating system. You can find the contact info by scanning an Airtag. There is a The device won't give you real-time tracking, so it's not a device to put on your dog or child. It depends on the connections with other phones to give an accurate location. There is a This device will not work if there is no iPhones in the area or if you travel into the world of nature. The good news is that there are billions of iPhones, but not every location will have one. There is a The Airtag can connect with my phone, but not lose the signal, on average. This is alright, I know it might be a bad thing for some. There is a You will not be able to share your location. If you are not in the area and someone you know is, it would be great to have this feature to help you find your lost item. There is a If you leave it behind, the Airtag won't alert you. You have to realize that you don't have the item, then use your phone to find it. There is a There was no built-in altimeter. If you lose your Airtag in a 20-story building, the Airtag won't be able to tell you the height of the building or the floor, even if they're in the same building. If the Airtag is too far away for my phone to connect with it, you are standing in a dead spot. You need to walk around until the Airtag can connect with your phone. The Airtag only works if there are Apple products in the area. Only the 11 and above versions of the Apple device are able to use the precision location feature. There is a Some countries will not work for Airtags, even if there are iPhones around. I was told that countries like Russia and Indonesia can be updated, but I need to keep an eye out. There is a The less remote you are, the less reliable the Airtag is. There is a If you have an Airtag, good Samaritans will reach out to you. This depends on where you live. The device is helping three types of people. The other is the one that keeps losing their stuff in public places. Two, the ones that lose their stuff at home every day, such as keys, purses, and stuff you can't leave the house with. A mix of both. The Airtag is not a real-time tracker. Don't attach this to your dog because it only works if the iPhones are in the area. You will get scratches on it as well. The tracking technology that is out there is similar to the precision location feature. It has the same flaws as well. The Airtag is an effective tracking device, requiring nothing more than an Apple device, which most already own. The layout was responsive, accurate, and useful. The precision location feature is a lifesaver if you need to find something quickly. I have a thumbs up to Apple in regards to the privacy issue. The fear of someone knowing your location is dead. Privacy is important for a device like this. The device is only built for the Apple community. I hope I helped you. Honest reviewer.

Automatic depth tracking is provided by the included 83/200 transducer, without the need for fine tuning or pre-programming.

Brand: Simrad

👤You can't find anything easier or more complete than this, and there are so many to choose from. It is easy to use and install and the hardware is included.

👤Great unit. It was easy to use. Loaded maps do not have update and accuracy which impacts reason for purchase. I had to buy charts to supplement the ones I already have. I did this after 6 uses and 2 cases of running aground because of the US Coastal Maps.

👤There is a $100 rebate on the cruise 7. It's a nice plotter. The stock charts they came with did not work for me in Alaska. The alaska chart card is from Navionics. The sounder provides a sharp picture and the plotter is easy to use. It is easy to see all the necessary information on the screen. It's a good one! It's easy to install.

👤It works like a champ. The install was easy and the visibility was great.

👤I had to buy an SD card from the warehouse for $200 because I didn't have Alaska waterways installed.

👤After messing with the unit to get the add on software installed. The installation should go without a hitch because it is a nice unit. It is definitely worth it to have a big screen with easy controls.

👤The depth finder hasn't worked since I bought it. I was on hold for over an hour while trying to call tech support. I made the purchase for the charts because of that.

👤Does not have charts for inland waterways.

10. Garmin Striker Transducer Fishfinder Traditional

The classic flasher format is ideal for ice fishing or vertical jigging. The display size is 1.9 x 2.9 inches and 3.5 inches diagonal.

Brand: Garmin

👤This isn't portable. I bought it for my kayak and didn't read the reviews. It needs a 12v battery, or you can buy a nocqua battery pack for an extra $90+ with additional cables. The mount can't be mounted to a kayak without additional mounting brackets. The screen isn't waterproof and may get splashed if it is taken out into saltwater. It's perfect for pond fishing. You'll spend more than $200k to get it powered and mounted. I returned it.

👤I would highly recommend this system for boaters who travel. I used it for the first time on a 10 mile canoe trip and I couldn't be happier with its performance. I was able to plot my course on a paper map to get the coordinates of each leg, and then add all the waypoint coordinates into the unit the night before creating a route. The gps unit kept track of where I was, how long it would take to get to the next waypoint, and how long it would take to get to the final destination. Our speed is very important for trip planning. I use two boats, one is a row boat for fishing and the other is a canoe where I mounted the transducer in the hull using a foam mounting piece. The fish finder worked well in both cases and I can swap it between the two. It would not be difficult to permanently mount the unit if I used the same method I use to make it swappable between the boats. You can adjust the base to face any direction. The garmin had no problems in the rain. It held up well. If you don't need to use waypoints or use a fish finder for local lakes, this is probably overkill. If you're looking for a great gps and fish finder in one, this is a fantastic unit and I highly recommend it. A quick note about my setup, I built a battery box. I know there are premade battery boxes that are more compact and hardy than the one I built. You will need to explore power options and be able to wire the unit. I like the flexibility.

👤The interface is very easy to use. It works as I had hoped. There are two points that seem to be ignored. The unit has to be connected to a power supply that has a car battery in it. If you plan to use it in a kayak, you need a power source. The screen/keyboard unit is not water resistant. If there is a chance of rain or spray you need a bag or something to cover it.

👤The gps fish finder is very sensitive to depth reading with tenths of a foot accuracy, and it seems to be working well. The construction details indicate a limited lifetime is expected when compared to my last one which had a really tight screw on the connectors and was very small and soft. The pins are very small and they have a slight chamfer to indicate how to insert the two plugs. The way the "head" unit is attached to the base is very vulnerable. It is almost impossible to put the head unit into the base without the holder being out. These connections are easily disrupted or separated. The system allows for the head unit to be tipped in the base, but it is very easy to remove if any effort is made on the unit. It's very easy to be ripped off by a thief. The screen is invisible in the sunlight, which is not cool, and it disappears very easily. Without the shadow of a bimini, it would be hard to read the display in bright sunlight. My old display of back and white was a pleasure to read in any light. The unit works well, but I'm worried about its longevity.

👤I bought this unit to make my Solix 12 position information more accurate. It was mounted on a Ram D VHF antenna mount, which was perfect for my bass boat. There were no interference problems. I am using it to map the bottom of a historically significant bay. It allows me to run a parallel track with close spacing to make sure my DI and SI collections are fully covered.

👤Works as advertised. I put my Helix 12 SI up front. I now have a stationary heading indicator. The online video shows you how to program your Helix to use the external sensor instead of the internal one.

👤I mounted this unit on the rear deck. The chart is easy to navigate, and I am certain that the craft is going in a certain direction. It is worth owning. The only way to get there is with an antenna. I secured mine to the rear deck with a simple method. The satellites are able to see the antenna from several hundred miles above you. They can see over your shoulder.

👤I use my Helix 7 on my trolly motor to keep my heading on point.

👤Before drilling holes, be sure to try out the install location on your boat. The unit has a magnetic compass, so any motor, speaker or magnet will throw it off.

👤The accuracy is increased to within a few feet.

👤I have mounted this on my Polaris Ranger for ice fishing and will purchase a second for my boat. I was hoping for better accuracy in the gps, heading sensor, and speed areas.

👤Happy husband, happy wife, happy life? It was a good purchase. It is what it says it is. If you use Graphs to find the fish, you need one.

👤The product is authentic. Excellent price.
