👤Don't buy this product, you will get the shaft twice. The device I received did not charge. It wouldn't work if plugged in. I wanted to swap it for a new one. The seller wants me to pay back the shipping for a bad product. There is an update. I didn't take my own advice. I bought a second one and it stopped working in 4 months. I had the same issue when I first got it. The model is terrible. This model should be embarrassed by the company.

👤I have a second device. I was very happy with the device when I first got it. It has become unreliable after several map and software updates. It will route you through weird loops and ignore obvious routes. It added a 25 - 50 mile loop after one recalculation that was out of the way of the original route. The only way to keep it from doing weird things to the route is to put edit points all along the route. Why don't you have a unit that lets you plot your own route? It does not calculate remaining distance accurately. You will be 11 miles from your next turn and then it will change to 18 miles from your next turn and suddenly show you have 7 miles to go and then switch to showing you have 300 feet to go. Sometimes when you get back on the freeway, you can drive right onto the ramp, but it will want to go across the bridge to the other side, so you have to do a weird U-turn and go back to the freeway. When I first bought it, it wasn't doing this. I felt I could rely on it. I don't trust it and that leads to a problem. Even if it's only a 1 or 2 megabyte download, this device won't let you do updates unless it's connected to a power source. This is ridiculous, what is the point of having internet if you can't download anything? I don't think you need to use the software when you are driving in the real world.

👤There is a curve ahead. The screen will keep telling you that there are lots and lots of them. This would be useful in cars that do not have a mirror, the rest of us can just look ahead and know that all roads are not straight. No? The display will fill with a Can We Find parking screen and it will not go away unless you hit the touch screen and it will come back with each recalculation ensuring you need to take your eyes off the road to address it. Do you like hearing "please drive to the highlighted route" when you start a journey? You can't turn off the curve warnings or parking warnings because you can't turn off this. "When possible, please make a U-turn" will be repeated about every 5 seconds if you want to pull down a side street. Don't bother if you want to take a look at alternative routes if you are driving that winding country road with all the curves and curve warnings. As you zoom out, the map will suppress road views. It will only show the road you are driving in isolated areas. This is what you get after a long time.

👤I assumed that this unit came pre- loaded with US maps, because I live in Alaska and it is in the United States. We've been a state since 1959. Look at the map. We are in the same area as the rest of the US. We are on the map because we aren't drawn to scale. There is a unit that includes Canada maps and costs more than the one that includes Alaska. Alaska is not in Canada. Alaska is not in Canada. I can't believe I have to tell you this. I don't have time to buy another unit when we leave for the trip. It's very disappointing to find that my gps is missing 18.2% of the US, even though it comes with US maps and lifetime updates. Yes, that's correct. The person said that it was the Garmin. Alaska is 18.2% of the United States and you expect me to pay more for Canada just to get the 18.2% that you failed to deliver. How do you get away with shorting your customers? Go to school with your navigator. Figure it out. I live in Alaska and I'm tired of being treated differently.

👤Three weeks ago, my husband had a stroke. I had to drive to strange cities in order to get him to his appointments. I never had a good sense of direction. My husband always took me places. I was forced to be the driver when the stroke happened. The gps device is a life saver for me. I don't know what I would do without it. If I hear that my husband has to go to such a place, I am no longer afraid to drive him because the gps device will tell me exactly where to go. I was afraid to drive because I didn't have a good sense of direction. I would be terrified if there was a detour. The device took the fear away from me and made me feel better. I am able to get my husband to the places he needs to go. I will not be without this device again.

👤I hope everyone that brought one of the gps's had better luck than I did. I put it away until this summer when I will be on vacation. If the car was turned off, it kept turning off. I plugged it in to the out so it wouldn't go out. I pushed the on/off button every time it came on, and it would go off again. The power wire may be short or the battery may be bad. Over the last ten years, I have brought four or five gps's from Amazon and had no issues with them. If you need to return it, make sure you check it out before you do so.

👤I bought the gps unit for my phone so I could have a backup for my trip from Illinois to California. I found myself using the gps device 99% of the time. I use 99% of the time without using maps from the internet. I like this more than the maps on the internet. The split screen was very informative, with large lane guidance in unfamiliar areas and upcoming stops displayed next to the map, without having to navigate away from the live map. It's not a problem with long stretches of roads, but in a city, the ability to show important stops like gas, food and rest stops without having to risk going away from the map and losing a turn is a problem. 2. The "Up next" info was the most useful feature for me, as it was the most important thing during a long trip. Next to the map are food, fuel and rest areas. If the next gas station was going to be 100 miles away, I could get fuel at the upcoming station. I ran out of fuel a couple of times in the middle of the AZ/NM/NV area. 3. The current speed limit was helpful and I found it was about 100 yards off from the posted speed limit signs. This is better than a map that doesn't have any information at all. 4. Offline navigation! I brought a dedicated gps unit because of this. I don't think it's right to not have navigation in the middle of Arizona/Utah because of the lack of phone coverage. After using a dedicated gps, I will say that I probably will use it for all my long distance driving, and leave my phone always connected to the charge. I still prefer to use the internet for inner city navigation.

👤The voice command capabilities of this particular gps were purchased by me. Everything was fine until the first update. We would get error messages when we tried to do things. I tried to do the updates again. I was dismayed when I saw the same complaints over and over again. I tried some of the suggested solutions, such as hard reset, re-installing language files, and ensuring text and voice languages were compatible. Nothing worked. I contacted a company. The agent told me that the only way to fix it was to buy a blank card and install the maps again. This is a well-known, documented issue, and I find that unacceptable. Even though it knows that devices will fail, it continues to sell them. It expects you to spend more money to fix it. Really? I think it's a rather unethical business practice. As a buyer beware, I'm putting this review out there. As soon as you perform your first update, this device will fail. Definitely not. Don't expect your satisfaction to be taken seriously by the company. You should be prepared to purchase an SD card.

👤The description said that it already came with international and europe maps. It couldn't get a signal when I set it up in my car at the airport in Italy. I had a car rental with a built in gps system that I used to use, and it never got a signal anywhere I went. This was a deceptive attempt to market it with built-in maps. This marketplace has low grade products for sale. I need info on how to contact the manufacturer. You lose credibility when you don't work on your customers' behalf.

👤I have been using this gps for over a year and have come to depend on its amazing features. It has a graphical representation of the road with arrows that show exactly which lane to be in and how to maneuver during tricky exits. It displays speed limits, but it always lists school zones as 20 mph even when school is not in session. The device also tells you how close to a turn you are, and what to look for, such as "Turn right after the McDonalds." The routes that it chooses are almost always the fastest, but it can get confused by recent construction. The internal storage of the gps is small enough to hold only a small amount of new maps for the 50 US states. It is still inconvenient even though these sections are large.

👤I love garmin nuvi. They have the best gps mapping system. After getting a vehicle with a gps system, it would take longer routes and different routes than the garmin nuvi would take. I said I was getting a new garmin nuvi because I couldn't stand it. It's funny. I start seeing where the system is not working when I run them together. I feel like I can count on my garmin nuvi when I'm traveling. I know a lot of people who like the garmin nuvi more than the gps systems. The screen is large and easy to use, it shows you the road you are on, and it is easy to figure out where to turn. It was a really difficult area for me to navigate. It also takes into account where you are turning better than my gps. It comes with free lifetime maps, which is an added bonus. It is a shame that this brand was not built into my car.

4. Garmin Navigator Touchscreen Display Guidance

Garmin Navigator Touchscreen Display Guidance

The large, easy-to-read 7” touchscreen has a bright, crisp, high-resolution display. You can get a custom truck route based on the size and weight of your truck, and you can see upcoming bridge heights, sharp curves and more. You can view parking information along your route. You can use the Preloaded Truck & Trailer Services directory to find truck stops. Load-to-dock guidance shows potential loading zones or storage lots when approaching your destination. See popular routes used by fellow drivers. You can use the voice assistant to talk to the navigator while keeping your hands on the wheel. If you want to use the ELD for hours of service recording, you need to pair the eLog with the app on your phone or tablet. If you want to use the ELD for hours of service recording, you need to pair the eLog with the app on your phone or tablet.

Brand: Amazon Renewed

👤This thing is a quality piece of hardware. It's durable, functional, boots up quickly and works well, unlike some gps units I've had. garmin's maps suck. This thing assures me that my maps are current and up-to-date, but they make mistakes all the time. It tries to send me to closed roads that no longer exist. The biggest flaw with this unit is that it doesn't have a "detour" button like previous garmin gps units. If it wants you to take a road that's closed for roadwork, it's as stubborn as a horse's ass, and will not change its mind. The only way to re-route is to manually enter a different route. garmin, bring back the detour button. It's better than not having a gps at all, but it still has some major flaws that will annoy you.

👤I own a lot of cars. I tried it for a week next to my maps and was not happy with the gps. Without the phone app it won't show traffic. When I received a phone call I didn't like the idea of connecting to my phone, it switched from my phone to the gps. That was making me nervous. I like to deal with maps on the internet for $400. It would be perfect if the bridge heights were known by the maps.

👤I took a few to get used to it. I like the fact that I don't need to hook up to a computer and go through a bunch of steps to update. I have been using for a month and it has been great. Don't leave your gps plugged in all the time, that's a tip I learned from the last one. You will shorten the life span of the battery by burning it up.

👤Can't find addresses on the screen.

👤The best gps I have had. It definitely could use improvement. It doesn't connect to a car, RV, or truck's stereo system to allow the sound of directions to be heard through the speaker system. Once you have downloaded the Garmin Drive app, you can use all of the features on it. The gps doesn't have an auxillary plug area. Sometimes it's hard to hear directions when driving. It's definitely better than my previous units. I would give it 4 stars if it was possible to play directions through the speakers.

👤The product was easy to setup. Sell asked about the item the same day. The service is top notch. Will buy from them again with hesitation.

👤Awesome! I needed a 7” screen. Can not go wrong.

👤I am happy with the device so far. It looks good and he is doing a good job. There is a job.

👤If I want to use this garmin, I have to plug it in all the time, and I don't think I'll buy any electronics from Amazon in the future.

5. Garmin DriveSmart Traffic Hands Free Information

Garmin DriveSmart Traffic Hands Free Information

It's easy to use a gps navigator. The maps are easy to see. alternate routes are suggested by the traffic company. Yes, the backup camera is compatible with BC 30 or BC 40. Voice activated and ability to pair with a compatible phone. Notable historic sites and the U.S national parks directory are part of the HISTORY network. Without a computer, built in wi-fi for map and software updates.

Brand: Garmin

👤I used a cellphone as my primary navigation tool and purchased the DriveSmart 65. The cellphone navigation systems are great, but I didn't like the convenience of the stand-alone units. I didn't like the fact that the navigation apps weren't easy to see when I manually used the phone for a phone call. There are two more Unless you use a different app or download offline maps from the internet, there's no navigation when you don't have cellular coverage. There are 3 more I never found the offline maps to work for me, there was always a problem with resolution that I could not resolve. Offline mode was not always used to work in general. I tried some of the other free offline navigation apps, but they seemed to be behind in updates, and did not seem refined, leaving me with a slight but ever present apprehension in my mind. I didn't like the small screen size when in portrait mode, even though I had an iPhone Plus. There are five The navigation app on my cellphone ran in the background and was not visible to view. I didn't see all of the trip info functions that the vehicle navigators offered. The app navigators had the same trip info, but it was hard to see. The DriveSmart 65 was more expensive than the 55, but the extras screen real estate was worth a few extra dollars for me. It is hardware. The screen is beautiful! Great resolution and bright colors. The brightness is turned up all the way. The 6.9 inch is the perfect size for me since I like to have all of the trip data functions showing on the screen at all times while allowing for ample space for the map/ navigation which is the most important part. The screen seems to be made of glass, but I am not sure if it is scratch resistant. The frame has a minimal amount of bezel which adds to visual appeal but makes accidental touches easy when trying to adjust the postition/angle of the unit on the mount. The screen is responsive to touch and there is little lag navigating through the menus, as it should be for a device at this price point. The speaker is loud and clear. I don't know what processor is in the unit, but I hope it is an upgrade from last year's model. It is smart to get the best hardware within your means, especially if you plan on keeping the device for several years, to ensure it will be able to effectively run the software updates. I don't like the way the power cord plugs into the back of the device. It would be great if it was plugged into the side or bottom, because it would be easier to mount the device on a desk if the power cord was not sticking out. The mount is standard and works well for mounting on a window, but I have seen it fall off of a vehicle. I bought a friction dash mount from Garmin because it seems to work well for now. I can't state my findings because I haven't had the battery disconnected from a power source for that long. It is very easy to use the software. It seems that the years of production have allowed time for most bugs to be worked out. The high detail map option provides a lot of detail and is helpful in keeping the user oriented from a geographical perspective. When you zoom out with the intent to use it indefinitely, the unit will automatically zoom you back in to the default setting, even though it does not really want you to have full reign on the map. You can have phone notifications for email/text/etc to show on the unit if you sync your phone to it. The option to make and receive phone calls when you sync the device to your phone is available for those that may need it. The unit has the ability to update maps without a computer. After attempting to update the maps 4 times, I got error code each time and the device aborted the process. Maybe it is because my internet connection is not high-speed. It will be great to see if there is a similar issue among other people. The maps will have to be updated with a PC. Conclusions: The device performs well as expected. Excellent native route planning and accurate navigation. The screen is bright and high resolution. It's right in the sweet spot. I am not convinced that the features this unit offers are practical enough to justify the higher price. If the processor is better than last year's model, this is a good value. It was a factual decision. I don't have to use my phone as my main navigation when I have a stand-alone navigator. Happy with the purchase, even though I mentioned some things. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a navigator.

Brand: Baseus

👤Works great, except when no audio is output. When it isn't playing any sounds, there is a mild hiss. When listening to music, you'll never notice the pauses that happen, but when listening to an audio book, it's a bit annoying.

👤The audio quality is excellent. The gps app crashes when I use it in my car. This can happen with both maps. I can get rid of this by playing music in the background, and it seems that the instability of the system is due to the intermittency of sound from gps navigation. I'm not sure if this is unique to my phone or not. It's something to think about before buying. It's great if you're going to use it as a music tool. If it's important to you, look elsewhere.

👤After 2 weeks, there was no light. The door nail was dead. I used it at least five times. I had trouble with it plugged into a cigarette lighter on my boat. Would not allow me to charge my phone. I'm streaming music and my phone is dying. Does not help me. It's hard to read that in the manual. I need to take a picture with my phone because the printing is so small. The paper the print on is printed on is white and the color of the print is sand, which is a few shades off from white. You can see my frustration.

👤The gem works well. Reliable and sound quality are good. I need to increase the volume on the phone and the car audio to hear anything. I would buy this device again.

👤Baseus Car is complete rubbish, I bought it. I returned it quickly and got MaedHawk. It has an excellent sound for $12, and the most important thing for me is that there is no static noise before, during, or after each song. When I turn on the key, it connects to my phone. I like this small thing.

👤It looks like an expensive item and performs better than I anticipated. My car plays my music from the phone and it has sound quality that is better than a plugged system.

👤This is a great accessory for my car. It needs to be plugged in. My ports are in arm rest so the adapter is out of sight. My phone works quickly when I enter my car. This thing sounds great and there is no drop in sound quality. 10/10 would be good.

👤I can finally use my phone in my car, but I can't make phone calls because I sound distant. To hear my music, I have to increase the volume to almost the max. There is a sharp whistling static sound that comes out when there is a brief pause/no music.

7. Garmin Navigator Display Lifetime Updates

Truck stops by brand and amenities are included in the truck and trailer services directory. Control dzl with your voice, and enjoy built-in wi-fi and hands-free calling. This device is compatible with Windows and Mac OS X.

Brand: Garmin

👤I dislike this device. Disappointed with the navigation. 1. The designated Class truck routes are not shown. 2. It doesn't show the bridge heights. I need these two items in my gps device. The information is on my maps. The reviews of the gps manufacturers were not as good as the reviews of the other manufacturers, and I believe that the information and technology is not available with any gps manufacturers. The database will be very successful if a product is created with it. The fit and finish is what I like. Thank you, but you are disappointed.

👤The features are great, the display is great, and the main part is great. The navigation on garmins is terrible. It will usually bring you a longer way even with the shortest route applied. In truck mode, even with the size of the vehicle entered, it brings you down a lot of dead end roads. There is no need to purchase a separate unit for the better maps. This may be the case in Maine and New Hampshire, but not in other states.

👤The gps works well. I like that you can set it up for doubles and triples, I also like that it works better with my phone, and that it's easy to use with my phone. So far, it is very accurate.

👤This is a good tool for drivers. I was going to be delayed by 2 hours in Idaho due to construction. I was routed around it. It will warn you about accidents, construction, objects in the road, and other things that have been reported to it. The speed limits in Montana are not correct. It shows 70mph for back highways and 65 for freeways, but it has a state border off by about 4 miles. It needs some map updates. It will show you the weather in your route. A gps is not a rule. Use common sense and always read highway signs.

👤I would like to see a version of the maps for commercial trucks. The only way I could use a gps device was with my phone. The product does not recognize new roads or buildings. There is nothing in the new warehouses according to Garmin. That's where the maps come in. In Phoenix AZ, a new stretch of loop 202 going south is open since December, but not for Garmin. I wanted to get on I55 North from Damen Ave but my new $300 gps said "No trucks", which is not true. The navigation system should be less than $75. It is important for Garmin to keep its maps up to date. I spent $300 and updated my maps to be able to find a warehouse that was built more than a year ago. I'm planning to return the gps because it's not very accurate. I'll check out a Rand Mcnally, hopefully it's better than the other one.

👤This gps has gotten me in trouble with taking me down places. If I worked days I would be screwed at times from using this gps sent me down roads with cars parked on both side in residential areas.

8. Garmin 2589LMT America Lifetime Avoidance

Garmin 2589LMT America Lifetime Avoidance

The display has a pinch to zoom function. Find more restaurants, shops and more with the app. Direct Access simplifies the process of navigating to complex destinations. Businesses are open and close. There are new roads. The latest map data is available. Lifetime traffic avoidance is free, without ads or subscription fees. Voice activated navigation and a link to a phone.

Brand: Garmin

👤The misconception is that everything you need for traffic is in the box. The product manual does not make it clear that it does not come with a car charging accessory. The seller must have seen other reviews. Shame on the seller for not making it clear. The "TA10" is packaged with many units, straight from the manufacturer. The nuvi 2589 is almost the same as the nuvi 2589, but there is no HD Traffic. It works with theTA10 I rigged the car and swapped the cables because I suspected a bad receiver. The non-HD traffic 2589 worked with both the TA10 and the HD traffic. The HD traffic 2599 gave the same message to both of the charging points. I am upset. The correct car charging accessory is not listed in the manual. The Gtm60 is a car charger that will allow HD traffic to function. The manufacturer and the seller are both irresponsible.

👤Don't buy this gps device from Amazon. Apparently they received a lot of faulty devices. I spoke to a representative of the company. The product is known to be faulty yet neither Amazon nor Garmin did anything about it. Instead of pulling the devices, they just keep selling them. Many functions of the gps device are non-operational because the power supply cable does not work properly. Again, do not buy this product. This product should be removed from the product line by Amazon. Several other Garmin devices had the same issue, as was also rattled off by the Garmin Rep. It's a sad day. I have held the company in the highest regard, but this has changed my opinion. Any company that doesn't do anything about a faulty product is wrong. It's so much for company integrity... Both Amazon and Garmin are failing in that area.

👤Another person is dead on arrival. I've ordered a unit from sellers before on Amazon. All three were excellent. According to the advertising, the first two were not new. Both of those arrived in shipping boxes with no padding or cushion in them to make the journey easier. Both units were returned after neither would awaken after charging or showing any sign of life. When the third unit arrived, it was the same packing as the last two, but it was telling me that the software was corrupted, even though it showed some sign of life after charging it. The cord supplied with the unit was "charGING", not a "DATA" cord, and the unit couldn't be updated through the express program. You can buy a data cord. The unit showed a sign of life, downloaded and such, but then all data vanished and the unit wouldn't leave the entry screen. If you're in the middle of the Arizona mountains, it's not a good thing. If you get one of these, you will need to buy a data cord if you want to register and update the maps.

👤We traveled 2500 miles across 4 states on a two week trip. The 2589 lmt did a great job during the trip. It is the perfect screen size for a vehicle gps. It's big enough to give you a lot of information. Not large enough to be in the way. The glare from the screen was mentioned by other reviewers. I didn't think this was an issue. The reflection from the screen did not affect what I could see or do with the Nuvi. I almost let the reflection issue affect my decision on whether to buy this one or one with a non-reflective screen.

9. Garmin 010 N2036 06 Refurbished Automotive Canada

Garmin 010 N2036 06 Refurbished Automotive Canada

The navigator is easy to use. Menus and maps are easy to see. Notable historic sites and the U S National parks directory are included in the history database. The driver is helpful. Pre-made street maps for the U S and Canada were included in the map updates. Lifetime Map Upgrades are free. The Quick Start Manual was included.

Brand: Garmin

👤I knew I was going to get a new product when I ordered this unit. They are new to me. Once they are proven to function for a few days, they will probably last a decade or more, or they will last until the new technology makes this unit boring. My cars have in-dash gps systems, but I use a different system when I go out. It works for me because I use the program. It's easy to plan a trip on my computer, and I like to save maps. I have a refurbished Nuvi 55. This is an old model. I bought this unit because it was cheap. I wanted to make my driving experience better. I like my new car. For the next 10 years, I will enjoy my new gps. It's a good thing. I don't use my real home address as "My Home" on my gps in case someone takes it. They will have my home address if they know I am not at home. I live at the nearest fire station address.

👤The gps works well. I just took it out of the box and plugged it in. I have never used a better gps device.

👤The box had a manual, a power cord that is long enough, and aGPS. As I am one of those who takes the manual and tosses it out the window, I put it on my weighted mount, plugged it in, and it already had enough satellites to function. I set a location and did a basic configuration. Initially it only showed the road name, but as I turned the numbers started to show up. I noticed that I had enabled a tracking function so I could see where I was. When I hit my first destination, I plugged my home address in and wanted to add Wal-mart to the trip, but I didn't know how to navigate the GUI yet. It was a done deal when I figured out how to do a multistop trip and I was at Wal-mart. The overall size of this gps is what I like the most. It is light and compact, and it was easy to put on my device pad for my dashboard. The photos show that it fits nicely on a pad for a 7" gps. The GUI is very confusing for an average user who doesn't know how to use it, unless you use the arrows on the left side of the screen, or have a very steady finger, and the legacyusb port is the biggest downfall of this gps. I like this gps because it serves its purpose, it is easy to use, and it is a referb so it won't end up as scrap. It was worth the money personally. I had to do a factory reset on the gps to fix some of the issues. It requires you to manually add your own route to circumvent the issue of it preferring major roads over anything else.

👤The Drive 52 unit is a replacement for the 1350 unit. I'd had Nuvi for a long time. This model is a big improvement, and it's smarter than the old one, and it's easy to use. A display with information can be tailored for your needs. Very nice.

👤I like the drive 52. Our new car doesn't have a navigation system and I used to use Onstar. I downloaded the instructions from the internet and found them very user friendly. I had several questions about the unit and they were answered quickly. I would definitely recommend this company. I received Prime service from Amazon within a week.

👤If you want to use a gps device, you should get this one. I had this up and running in no time at all. The map updates are easy, unlike my previous Magellan that took hours. I love it and will stay with it.

👤This is the new unit that died. This one is easy to use and works well. The lifetime map updates are a major benefit. The software and maps were updated. It took a while but it was easy. I can't get the route shaping feature to work correctly, that's one of the two downsides that I see at the moment. It adds loops and segments to the route when I try to get it to use a particular street. I didn't have this feature on my original unit so I'm used to not having it. I miss having interesting voices to choose from. There are only two American English voices. It's a good deal for the cost compared to the more expensive units.

👤The newer Garmin can be used with car play or an auto. I bought this as a backup, and it has map updates. It does what I wanted it to do.

👤This is the second device I have purchased. The first one died a long time ago. The case contained 2cables. One cable connected it to a computer. The other cable is for a cigarette lighter in a car, but the other end is too wide to fit the gps device. There was no A/C plug in cord. There is no way to charge the device or keep it running.

👤After the first use of this gps unit, I felt like I was in a bad place. It doesn't do a good job at voice recognition, it's not modeled for normal everyday speech. You can't search for a simple name and city with a search engine, you only get the results you want. This isn't the unit I need, it's a different one.

👤After updating maps and copying locations from my old device, the new gps wouldn't power on and was returned. This is a common problem according to reviews.

👤This was a smaller navigation device. I bought this. The larger screen was a plus. The road layout is correct. It works better than the GM product in my car. I will no longer use that one. I know I can rely on this one.

👤I don't know how many gpss I have used on a motorcycle. I think it's around 10. The motorcycle specific Gps are the first I have tried and they are too small for my liking. I have had it for about a year. My actual use has been limited because of the lack of appeal to ride in our Florida heat and humidity. There are a few observations about the screen. Even in direct sunlight, it is bright and readable. It's better than any of the previous ones I've used. Big plus! The data fields are easy to read, and the speed indicator glows red when you are speeding. The screen on the gps is glove friendly. Maybe this year I will be able to escape from Florida. The screen is a perfect size. The last 3 gpss I used were massive trucks. Big, easy to read, and extremely competent, but bulky. The larger, dimmer screen on the others is not as bright as the brighter screen on this, and the smaller overall size fits into the dash area better. Another plus. The Zumo is impervious to rain. The automotive/truckGPSs I have been using were not up to date. It's nice to no longer worry about the gps getting wet. The standard 1” ball mount was used for the gps. There is no need for special cradles or adapters. I decided to use the previously installed Ram ball and a 6” arm I already had in a big box of extra Ram stuff instead of using the bar mount and arm. The included dock/mount seems to hold the gps in place. You can remove the gps in a split second if you push a button on the back. The cable stays with the mount. The rubber cover for the contacts is included when the gps is not installed. Installation is very fast. Simply clip it back on. It's great if you have a place to securely store the gps. Some people may think that a thief can push the same button and walk away with your gps. The wiring was easy to follow. You need a negative and positive wire. I don't have to worry about messing with the gps because my car is wired to a hot-all-the-time circuit. The map retains detail when you zoom in, which is something I believe will make this gps more useful than any of the newer gpss I have used. I don't follow a pre-determined route on the bike. On the bike, I usually wing it, with only a general idea of where I'm headed, using the gps more as an electronic road atlas than just blindly following a route. You can still see the secondary roads with the map detail turned all the way up. Secondary roads are usually disabled above.3 or.500 miles. If you want to know where that little road you are thinking of exploring goes to, you might be able to see by zooming out, instead of having to scroll around and lose perspective. I prefer to adjust the zoom level myself when underway. The auto zoom seems to work at a useful level so far. I will try it. Time will tell... I just set it manually because I got tired of it zooming in and out on it's own. For the first year that I had this gps, I had a problem with how it handled points of interest. For the uninitiated and non-geeks, custom points of interest are lists of locations that may be of interest to you that would not normally be included with a gps's factory installed POIs. They can be a collection of stores or a collection of stores. The lists can be downloaded from a website, or you can make your own if you want to. The custom POIs were only accessible by digging into the menu system on the Zumo XT. A top level search didn't include custom POIs. I could live with that, but the worst thing for me was that there was no way to make the custom POI icons on the map. It's always nice to look at the map and see if one is close to something. The unit started showing custom POIs after the system update. "Up ahead" in the map settings menu must be checked to show your POIs. This will show the system icons for fuel, restaurants, and motorcycle related POIs, and it can make the screen a little busy, but hey, I'll take it. Speaking of POIs. I have found the pre-loaded POIs to be very inaccurate and frustrating to use. They have sent me on wild goose chases to businesses that were either notexistent or somewhere else. A big deal in a large RV is a frustrating annoyance on a motorcycle. Because of this, I stopped using Garmin's POIs a couple of years ago and now use other alternatives when searching for food, fuel, or anything else. Really? They could be better now. I don't know. I have been burned so many times that it will be a while before I try to use them again. I let the gps show me the nearest gas station for the first time since I owned it, against my better judgement. We went after it was shown to be close to us. I passed a gas station on the way that the gps didn't know about, and it took me about 5 blocks further up the street to a run down old building that was probably a gas station in a previous life. We were checking out an RV park for a future trip later that day, and I let the gps search for nearby RV parks on my phone. It didn't know that the RV park was established. The bottom line. If you need to find a place, don't use the POIs. You can enter the address into the gps by searching for it on your cell phone. The weather radar is connected to your phone through a wireless connection. I haven't had any showers that chase me around yet, but it all seems to work if you have a good wireless data signal. This feature is really cool. I have only used it for short trips, but if it's like any of my other current ones, they will find the address and you can be pretty confident they will get you there eventually, but will also sometimes choose strange routes. Always take a quick look at the proposed route, and always choose common sense over what a gps tells you. This thing is expensive. It's very expensive. It is the most expensive non-marine gps I have ever purchased. I would buy it again in a second. I still think it's great and would not want to be without it. As time goes on, I will probably update this review.
