👤I use my gps a lot. I replaced my 10 year old gps from the other major brand with the top-of-the-line gps from TomTom. In 3D view, roads had the same color, not differentiating between dirt and interstates. I saved hundreds of my stops in the previous gps, so I rely on that. It was difficult to save a location in the device. The idea of the agenda on the phone was great. It is difficult to connect through the Internet of Things. After a few days of confusion, the other major brand replaced the old TomTom with the new top-of-the-line gps.

👤I'm one of those people who don't like to use their phone to navigate. I don't want my navigator talking into the same speaker as Rslash, so I always have music or podcasts on in the car. It's hard to hear. I like having a dedicated gps with a speaker. I had a navigation device for a long time. I got this thing when I got my first car. The garmin lived a long, happy life until this winter and I only ever had one complaint about it, which was that it didn't have handsfree voice control. If I had to change a route, I would either have to risk an accident or pull over. A lot of these units come with voice control. Most of them are expensive. Tom wasn't. There is a reason for that. Look at the quirky gps peripheral units. They have always been. They probably will be. I'm pretty tolerant of their random quirks, but the "quirks" I've experienced from this idiotic bot and her clueless engineering team make this product nowhere near production-ready. It is almost laughable. It would be if I didn't have a missile at the same time. Such gems are included in Tom Tom's "Quirks". It doesn't understand what I'm saying. I've had the best luck with programming addresses in, giving her very simple names, and telling her to take me to the simple names. This works about half the time. 2. It knows what to do. No alternate version of those commands will ever be said. She won't know what you're talking about if she listens to "End Voice Instructions" and you say "Stop navigation" 3. There's no easy way to stop something from moving. I had to turn off the navigation. You have to dig around. You can turn voice instructions off, but she keeps going. After you get there, on your next drive. Also, etc. She's telling you you're going the wrong way until you figure out how to turn it off. It will be forever. I realize that putting a "stop navigating" button on the actual navigation screen isn't an intuitive feature. Why not try my crazy idea? 4. It might be a setting, but I don't know what time it is. There is no clock on the screen. What is that thing? I've done a lot of long haul driving. I want to know when I cross time zones without having to look at multiple screens. I asked her what time it was a couple of times, but she just said "Sorry, I don't understand", I'm not sure why I expected her to know... At this point, we have a navigation screen with no stop button, no time display, and a navigator who is just as useless as the dumb kid who eats paste. 5. This is where it gets really dangerous. She doesn't respect route preferences or avoidances. At the very least. I can't drive after dark. I can't see in the dark. I avoid the highway for shorter trips because I see double when I look over my left shoulder, which makes merging a question of mirrors. I have only one option, to avoid freeways. When I need it on, I set that to on. I don't use the fastest route and this idiotic thing has taken me on highways to find the fastest route. Sometimes she forgets she needs to avoid highways and puts me on a highway. The avoidance is still selected at the end of the trip. Again. A kid eats paste. Sensitivity and accuracy are acceptable. I gave it half of the star. Have you ever been in a car with a cranky senior citizen who has no idea how to get anywhere and can't hear anything you're screaming in their ear, and you're riding shotgun and doing the navigating? The Tom Tom Go experience is here. Listen, guys. Voice control is important if you want voice control.

2. Garmin Navigator Touchscreen Display Guidance

Garmin Navigator Touchscreen Display Guidance

The large, easy-to-read 7” touchscreen has a bright, crisp, high-resolution display. You can get a custom truck route based on the size and weight of your truck, and you can see upcoming bridge heights, sharp curves and more. You can view parking information along your route. You can use the Preloaded Truck & Trailer Services directory to find truck stops. Load-to-dock guidance shows potential loading zones or storage lots when approaching your destination. See popular routes used by fellow drivers. You can use the voice assistant to talk to the navigator while keeping your hands on the wheel. If you want to use the ELD for hours of service recording, you need to pair the eLog with the app on your phone or tablet. 👤This thing is a quality piece of hardware. It's durable, functional, boots up quickly and works well, unlike some gps units I've had. garmin's maps suck. This thing assures me that my maps are current and up-to-date, but they make mistakes all the time. It tries to send me to closed roads that no longer exist. The biggest flaw with this unit is that it doesn't have a "detour" button like previous garmin gps units. If it wants you to take a road that's closed for roadwork, it's as stubborn as a horse's ass, and will not change its mind. The only way to re-route is to manually enter a different route. garmin, bring back the detour button. It's better than not having a gps at all, but it still has some major flaws that will annoy you.

👤I own a lot of cars. I tried it for a week next to my maps and was not happy with the gps. Without the phone app it won't show traffic. When I received a phone call I didn't like the idea of connecting to my phone, it switched from my phone to the gps. That was making me nervous. I like to deal with maps on the internet for $400. It would be perfect if the bridge heights were known by the maps.

👤I took a few to get used to it. I like the fact that I don't need to hook up to a computer and go through a bunch of steps to update. I have been using for a month and it has been great. Don't leave your gps plugged in all the time, that's a tip I learned from the last one. You will shorten the life span of the battery by burning it up.

👤Can't find addresses on the screen.

👤The best gps I have had. It definitely could use improvement. It doesn't connect to a car, RV, or truck's stereo system to allow the sound of directions to be heard through the speaker system. Once you have downloaded the Garmin Drive app, you can use all of the features on it. The gps doesn't have an auxillary plug area. Sometimes it's hard to hear directions when driving. It's definitely better than my previous units. I would give it 4 stars if it was possible to play directions through the speakers.

👤The product was easy to setup. Sell asked about the item the same day. The service is top notch. Will buy from them again with hesitation.

👤Awesome! I needed a 7” screen. Can not go wrong.

👤I am happy with the device so far. It looks good and he is doing a good job. There is a job.

👤If I want to use this garmin, I have to plug it in all the time, and I don't think I'll buy any electronics from Amazon in the future.

👤Even after all the updates and settings have been set, I'm still being put on parkways and sent down roads with low bridges.

👤This gps will take you on roads where trucks do not belong, and it was bought in June of last year. Will take you to the parkways and back roads. I called customer service to inquire about the issue but they told me to update the gps even though it was up to date. I wouldn't recommend anyone to buy it. This is not a truck gps.

👤I was taken to a 12' underpass with no warning of the height restrictions. Weight limits have never been listed.

👤I bought this product to replace my old gps. I was very disappointed. The interface is easy to use. When the problems start, it's when you use it. This is the worst gps I have ever used. It was hard to use it in Northern Maine. The roads that I knew I could travel on were the ones that the gps said was a car only route. It would try to take me down roads I wasn't supposed to be on. I thought I set it up wrong. I called the place. They walked me through the process and said that I had set it up correctly. I am not happy with this purchase. The truck business should not have a partner like TomTom. It should be left to the pros.

👤When I use this gps, it takes me to the parkways that commercial trucks can't travel on. I wouldn't give it a rating. I only gave it one star because it wouldn't let me finish the review.

👤Was not like the older Tom Tom. I was off the route for over an hour and a half and the address wouldn't show up in the search engine. Tom Tom's design was poor. Not worth the money.

👤This could have been a great gps. If I had only created an account with the navigation device. You have to have an account to take advantage of the traffic, weather, and other updates. I decided to dump my gps because I was impressed with the trip planners that were on the market, and I was looking forward to using it and getting the planned trips to the gps. You have to have an account to use the app on your phone. I tried to create an account but it wouldn't let me, I already have an account. Password reset failed. I am stuck. There is no phone number or email address to send something to. It's back to me.

👤This gps will take you on the roads where trucks aren't allowed. Will take you to the parkways and back roads. The gps was up to date, but customer service suggested an update. I wouldn't recommend anyone to buy a lot of headaches. This is not a truck gps. I also called Amazon customer service. I told them the problem. They don't care. A discounted refund was offered. I accepted it because the gps is useless and not for trucks. I lost $45 because I didn't get a full refund. This is the second time that the description doesn't match the item. It wasn't my fault. Amazon didn't care about the price and only refunded 80% of it. If you don't want to lose money and be angry about wrong navigation, I don't recommend buying this gps. Maybe it's not bad for cars. You can find better gps for cars.

Brand: Tomtom

👤They don't mention that the manufacturer charges an additional $130.00 for the computer driver to update the maps. I needed a new gps because the manufacturer stopped updating the maps for that model, so I was replacing my current one. It's not worth the cost to own this device.

👤I've been a fan of the products of TomTom for over 20 years and have never been disappointed. The question of how is lifetime defined was raised last month when I learned that my "lifetime" maps were no longer supported. I assumed I'd gotten out of the device and found another similar to it, so I'd stick with the brand I've been loyal to. I bought the VIA 1525SE as it seemed to have all of the same qualities and received it quickly. I plugged it into the computer to update the maps after charging it. It required to update the NAV4 file. The initial update took over 10 hours to complete. The device started to update the maps. The first time, it gave an estimated download time. It began again after it was at 39%. Time out, rinse repeat. I gave up trying to complete the maps after spending an entire weekend trying to do so. No maps were installed. I searched for support on the website and was directed to the forums. The "submit" button only refreshed the screen when I tried to email through their site. I found a phone number and spoke to a woman who was not real. There is nothing in the way of support. I was able to get MyDriveConnect to briefly display "MyContent" and find the message that the drive is corrupt after I got it to not begin automatically updating. The "Repair" option was greyed out, as was the "Uninstall" option. There isn't enough file space to allow for a download. I was once again directed to the forums by Average Joe Blow, who could possibly give me the answer that the manufacturer could not. What kind of support is there? They don't have to use technical assist and just allow the keyboard warriors to take on the job for free, and if it fails, they've complete deniability. I have to find a new company that I can trust.

👤Brand new! The screen has frozen solid after being connected to my drive connect. It has been cold. Unable to use it. I tried all the fixes that Tom had suggested. Nothing has worked. Tomtom support is not available. The map is on the screen when you turn it on. I connected it to the app. I am out $120. It's useless. The product is a navigation device.

👤There is a large display. The problem is what you can't display. We like to use our gps to measure things. If you follow a programmed route, you can display your speed or speed limit. If you are just driving around and don't know where you are going, your speed and speed limit can't be displayed. This was confirmed by a call to the customer support. We had a navigation device. We had more display options and a better display format on a 5" display. I hope that Amazon will take this thing back and give me my money back. Generalizations provided in the user manual do not apply to this release.

👤The screen images are easy to see in the 7-inch size. It will be a great product. The setup is a bit confusing and the screens in their video are different from what I see on my device. Maybe I'm overestimating and everything will work out okay. There is an update on 12-20/2021. I took a trip to Venice Beach Florida and then to our hotel in Punta Gorda Florida using the Navpal. The screen would show the map and then go black about 10 seconds after you hit GO. I had to use the screen to get the map back up. You could only see the map for the brief periods when the voice was still there. This made it hard to visualize the places to turn and the best lane choice. The "Speeding" reminder is a feature that is annoying. It is not a gentle reminder. NavPal promised me a new gps when I contacted them after I returned from this trip. I had my new device three days later. It works perfectly after I tested it out. I want to change my rating to 5 stars because of their customer service.

👤It was easy to use. It held its own in a comparison against the other two navigation devices and was easy to use. The screen was not as bright, but clear and easy to read, and when I looked at it in the sun, it was very similar to the one on the TomTom. The TOMTOM had only a couple of voices that could read out the street addresses, and both of them were female. I already have a co-pilot that knows more than the gps. In the NAVPAL? My wife was fine with that because the man speak better and that was fine with me. The sound is not good, so only four stars. It is easier to use and has many features you would expect, like vehicle size, car, bus, taxi, or truck. It took a while for it to grab the Satellites, they were way over to the North East. I let it spin away and it worked great. It seemed that the other two were more complicated. This is the champion. I would buy it for a backup to the machines I already own, but we have yet to take it on the road, so an update will be coming. If the road test is as surprising as the living room test and learning cycle, then it could be the deal of the year. The sound quality is terrible. The speakers are terrible, but you can hear it. Guess what? It can be patched on your vehicle speakers. I will update after I return from a trip or two. This is a nice gps that is easy to use.

👤The product was purchased for my mother, she found it easy to see directions and needed a little help setting it up but she seems to get it at 80 years of age.

👤The Navpal has better reviews and has a life time map up dates. The American brand with Professional Technician teams in the USA was the selling point for me. English speaking customer support via phone or email, we understand our customers needs, and I like the easy touch screen on my old gps. I can find a gas station or store just by searching, I like the saerch featcher.

👤If you are reading this, you may be like me and prefer a stand alone gps device over a phone. That is out of the way. Having a great gps unit was important to me as I was in sales for many years. I've owned many things through the years. It had been my experience that most of my Garmins had better touch interface and screens than my TomToms. I always preferred TomTom for its better route and better traffic than Garmin. I still have a Drivesmart 55 and it really closed the gap on TomTom as to route, traffic. When I moved to a new state, the gps device put me on the wrong road, or exit numbers were way off, and traffic was never as good as the one on the right side. I decided to buy the latest and greatest new TomTom, Go Discover. This thing is huge and I take 1 star off. I ordered a 7 inch unit, but it still has a lot of size to it, unlike most of the other devices. In any case, the processor has caught up to the Garmins as to not needing to wait with every press of a button, and in any case, the great hi def screen has finally been added to the TomTom. It seems to find your route quicker than any other device. I have been pleased with it's superior ACCURATE route and traffic. It was a bit buggy when I first connected to it. I think the trick was to start the Go Discover first. It's getting traffic data as soon as the TomTom starts. I'm not getting the X that shows no connection to my phone. Live gas prices seem ok, but not sure of the point, as you need to be less than a block from the gas station. By the time you see the price of gas on the TomTom, you already passed the gas station that had the price on their own signs. This seems to be a very well made piece of hardware and it has a great screen. I think this should be at least $50 less, but if you want the best one... I think this is the one to get. Not happy with the use of a suction cup to mount this on a dashboard. The cups lose their grip. The advantage is for mounting the dashboard. I'm very happy with this Go Discover. My device is in a drawer.

👤The parking feature does not work in or around Los Angeles after several email exchanges. I would check to see if the service works in your market. It was difficult to review. It has a 7 inch display. There is one feature that I can't get to work that works well. The off-street and on-street parking features are there. I can see the lots, but no information on pricing or availability is being reproduced. I was told to try a reset, but it didn't work. I feel I need to mark the stars off because you are paying more for this item than the next model down with does not have the gas and parking features, and the other problem is that TomTom is one of those companies that make it impossible to call in to discuss your issues. You have to submit your question in writing. There is no one to walk you through other solutions if their suggestion doesn't work. It's not uncommon for businesses to make it next to impossible to reach someone in person. I want this feature for my trips to Los Angeles, so I'm hopeful I can resolve it. I live 45 minutes away. I'm wondering if I should just send it back and then order the next model.

7. Garmin Navigator Directions TripAdvisor Foursquare

Garmin Navigator Directions TripAdvisor Foursquare

Easy to use dedicated gps navigator with bright display. There are lifetime maps of the U.S. Driver warnings for dangerous curves, speed changes, speed cameras and more. Hotels, restaurants, and attractions have ratings on the website. The guides use recognizable landmarks, buildings and traffic lights.

👤I can't review Easy to Use because I'm over 80. I had to call at least three times, but the customer service was great. I was patiently walked through my problem by each rep. There was a problem that had nothing to do with me and I was able to resolve it. I know how to use the gps. You would never know it was refurbished when I bought it at a very good price. I am very happy with the product and recommend it to anyone.

👤It wouldn't turn on after about 2 months, but it worked great for a while. The cheapest option at the post office was $11, and I had to pay shipping to return it.

👤The quality of this unit is brand new, and it may have been a LMT unit in the past. The unit performs as it should. The software was very easy to use and it came up to speed very quickly. It's easy to update software on my PC. It was an easy decision to buy because of the good price. There are a couple of things that are not nice. The unit protests when you try to charge it with a non-garmin cable. The unit senses a data cable. It's really hard. This isn't necessary. A confirmation button should be used. Why do I think this is annoying? The place where I mounted this device in my car is about 8 inches away from the 12V sockets. I don't need a lot of cable. The same thing happens when you run off of a 120V charge. It's double UGH. I tried different cables and chargers. The next thing to be annoyed is the LCD's polarization. Has anyone tried to look at the screen with sunglasses? TheGPS operates in a horizontal mode. Why do you polarize the display in the diagonal? My 8 year old does the same thing. I haven't seen a similar problem in every new car with a build in display. I couldn't give this unit less than 4 stars because of the good price.

👤I decided to try it instead of using one I borrowed from a friend because I received this right before my trip for work. I had a few wrong directions due to not hooking it up to my computer to download the lifetime maps, but overall it worked great and I ran into one spot where the gps didn't know there was a new road. It has no battery life. I will always use it in the car plugged in, so I'm not worried about that. The large screen on it is what makes me happy.

👤It's been over 100 days since I purchased this gps. After it was purchased, it was used on a trip to Virginia. It was used again last week and the wife was almost stranded. I requested a refund because the renewed unit didn't work and was denied because it was past the 90 day guarantee, so I'm going to have to fix this one again. I won't buy from the seller or a renewed unit again.

👤I've been using the same gps provider for over 20 years. They lost me today. The best feature of my prior version was that it would alert me to delays on my route and re-route me around traffic issues. I didn't realize that the several different TomTom models I owned were extremely buggy and glitchy, and I had to sometimes pull out a map to find out where it had stranded me. This is the final insult. I just bought the GO 52 and found out you have to use a smart phone to get traffic information. For the last five years, my friends, colleagues, and my kids have made fun of me for using a gps device instead of a smart phone. Do you not know that your primary customer is a person who doesn't have a smart phone and doesn't want to use it for directions? Good. Bye forever.

👤Problem solved. This is my fourth Tom Tom gps and it had a major flaw. You are sent to the wrong place over and over again. None of the other units did this. I was sent to a cemetery by a trip to the store in East nah ston, NJ. I took a trip to the north of the mall. At times, it's difficult to figure out how to get to streets that don't exist. Some major streets were not recognized by it. On the second call, I got someone very knowledgeable that helped me fix the problem. It lost a star for sending me the wrong places.

👤The owner's manual that is available on the product page from Amazon is a crying shame as far as installation into your car is concerned. The document says that this is only a windshield mount. The document states that some of the products from TomTom have an "expanded memory slot with no explanation of how to get to it on the Go 52." Many people say that the TomTom does not have a memory card slot. I read the PDF file the same way they did. This is a device that has a memory card slot. The product is dash mountable. Use the instructions in the box. The mount boss can be clipped on to the back of the car and can be removed. There is a memory card slot underneath that piece. I had to ask myself if there were any instructions in that box that weren't in a 136-page PDF file on how to use this thing. I like to get text messages read aloud. On the other end of the phone is a message. I like that it tells you where to go. I was able to connect to my phone. Time will tell how the traffic and reroute systems work. The only voice that gives street names is a computer voice. There is a definite learning curve to using this one if you are a long time user.

👤I went to my car to set it up after receiving this device. When I tried to connect to my phone, it told me that I had to download thetomtom drive app first. The problem is that when I tried to download the app in red letters, it told me that it wasn't available in my country. I went to the app store on my computer and saw that it could be installed. I installed it there. I tried to use the voice to speak to it, but it didn't get what I was saying right. I had it completely quiet and it wasn't because of background noise. I chose to get this navigation system because of that, so it appears to be pointless so far. I will use it for my job. I'll update this review after I use it, especially compared to Garmin. I took it to work, and I'll stick with it. There are new roads which are shown by the company. The roads are there, even though it isn't showing the names yet. The roads aren't there even with the newest map updates. I returned it and kept with it.

👤After a trip through Europe, we purchased this item as a replacement for a Tomtom Via, which was a replacement for another Via which could not hold a memory expansion card. We didn't have an opportunity to try out most of the features since the item failed in a couple of basic ways, but the GO 620 has many desirable features. It was a challenge to download maps and system updates, which you are requested to do immediately, and which you will probably need to install a memory expansion micro-sd card to complete. The updates are to be done on a computer. I took 1/2 day to successfully download maps from the US, Canada and Mexico. I was never able to download maps from Europe using either method. Something went wrong. Please try again. After many attempts, a case was initiated with tomtom tech support, who have been unresponsive for 3 days now. We tested the GO 620 on a trip from our home in NM to a restaurant in El Paso, along a route we were familiar with. We used our older device to compare. The Tomtom was trying to take us on really strange routes. We traveled 45 miles from El Paso to NM on I-10. We set the gps preferences to take us along the fastest route. The GO 620 tried to take us off I-10 onto some farm roads, and then back onto it. Go figger! You can't get what you paid for if you can't download your maps, can't get reliable route guidance, and can't get responsive tech support. The third Tomtom product is going back to Amazon. It was very disappointing.

👤This is a nightmare. I tried to upgrade from my old tomtom 1400. The gps starts fast and has a nice screen, but that's all. I tried it in different places. It always finds the destination address and gives a global trip map. It does nothing for 15 minutes. Instructions on turns, no street view, and nothing else. I tried to wait. Nothing. After you drive for a while, it starts to appear in the street view. It's off the current road half the time. Completely useless. I bought a navigation device.

👤I bought a gps device for my trip to France. I tried to update the software after I received the product. After four days of trying multiple websites, I was unable to get a response, even though I tried to reset my password, download software updates, and find out how to download European maps. I held on to the phone for 25 minutes and tried two different customer service phone numbers. I did a search on the internet for customer complaints. Before you buy this product, please do this search.

👤The Tomtom 520 is a great platform for daily use, but it comes up short in some important areas. The first thing they want you to do is load the software. The MyDrive app is not real. The app never shuts off and spends the day burning up your phone battery and watching you. It was finally removed from my phone. This would have made this a great product, but corporate greed for customer's personal data drives their company paradigm. I drive a few short miles a day. Even though it senses that it is no longer connected to the device, the app is still on. Not just a small "stub" to sense when it's near the device and connect, but I mean fully on watching you, listening, tracking communications with others, and robbing as much data as it possibly can. The device's user interface is one of the most important areas. Their GUI is not intuitive. If you want it to stop telling you how to get there, you have to look through three menus. There is a button on the screen that you can use to report a traffic camera. I wanted to add the location I was at to my favorite destinations, rather than typing in a bunch of information. I haven't been able to find a way to do it. Tomtom's online help doesn't apply to my model. I don't know how to do that. There is a lot of great things about this device, but corporate greed and poor user interface design ruin that. I can't recommend this item.

👤This is a product review. I've been using the gps units for a long time and was interested in testing the new unit from the TomTom company. The Go Comfort is a gps device. The unit was in the box with a micro-USB charging cable, a single port 12vusb charging wart, a dashboard puck, and a QuickStart Guide. The dashboard puck has a 3M circle on it, but I never attach that sort of thing in my vehicles so I don't look at the capability of the dashboard puck. The unit came with enough charge in it to accomplish initial configuration, and since it charges via standardusb cable, finding a place to plug it in while working through the intial configuration was very convenient and simple to do. The system expects you to know to go into the Menu to do anything, and on initial power-up, the 4-dot indicator wasn't labeled. The Getting Started Guide was easy to understand, as it was clear that it was necessary to open the menu. The Getting Started Guide is multi-language, but I don't like the format where it mixes 2 languages on each page. I like to read the manual in one language and the other in another, as it makes getting through the steps easier. There were more than 2GB of updates applied to the system. This is a feature I have not used on a Garmin unit, but it is interesting. I was able to download the system and map updates directly to the unit after I joined the system to my network and created a TomTom account. The updates took about 40 minutes to apply. There isn't anything that leads you to believe there is something to do before the unit starts. You can use the unit right out of the box and put a destination into the system when it finds satellites. The first issue I had was this one. It took a long time to find satellites. That meant that the time wasn't correct and it didn't know where I was. The time it took to find satellites was more difficult for the TomTom than it was for me. I had to move the TomTom into a window in order to register it, so that it could easily be found on the same desk. After getting my preferences set up, I tested this several times and never saw a change in behavior. The finding of satellites did not improve after applying the system updates. It took 40 minutes to find the satellites. The finding of satellites in the car was much better than in the house. The unit holds the satellite connections very well once found. You are encouraged to use the MyDrive app to connect to the gps. The user experience was less than stellar. You need to connect to the MyDrive app on your phone to get the traffic data. It was one of the most difficult combinations I've ever encountered. 5 attempts, 2 uninstalls of the app, and a factory reset of the gps unit are what it took to make a simple pair. I had to enable tethering before the gps would connect for the data connection to work. Until the tethering function was enabled, nothing else would work except for the connection for phone functions. I'm not new at connecting devices to my phone, and I'm running a fully updated version of the phone's operating system. The traditional method of connecting a device to a computer is not used in the pairing process. This is the source of the problems. I didn't like the other piece of this. If I wanted to use my phone as a navigation device, and to get the most help from a gps, I would use a map service like Google Maps. This is a major flaw of the setup. If I have to drain my phone battery and open an app in order to get traffic data, the device will be worthless. The first flaw in the MyDrive app is the fundamental premise. The idea of using your phone for route planning might sound nice to some, but you can do the same thing from the gps unit, so it isn't clear what advantage this approach has. The Getting Started Guide doesn't discuss the app, so it doesn't help clarify the situation. The app doesn't have a way to save routes or places you look up in it, but it syncs to your account. It's strange that you wouldn't see this inside the app, if it's a multi-screen synchronized ecosystem. The routes built on the phone won't sync to the gps if the link isn't working properly, even when you log into your account on the gps unit. The app only adds to the equation by grabbing traffic information, and doesn't add anything else. I was able to test the accuracy of my current maps on a road trip. Even though I had to have my phone connected to see the issue, the device performed perfectly, even though we ran into a major accident on the way home. The same issue was seen by the second phone running the maps and the first one, and it was the same as the one that the TomTom suggested. The re-pathing was very logical and fast. The time to destination was re-calculated and it was very accurate. You can save your home address to make a one-step route plan. There are buttons for finding parking lots and gas stations. There is a'safety camera' recording capability that feeds a data stream to other drivers about where red light and speed trap cameras are located across the country. The Go Comfort is a good gps unit. It is suffering from a flawed and seemingly unnecessary app. Getting from point A to point B is easy once you get past those issues. Paying for a separate unit for traffic data is questionable when it's included in free maps.

👤I used a cellphone as my primary navigation tool and purchased the DriveSmart 65. The cellphone navigation systems are great, but I didn't like the convenience of the stand-alone units. I didn't like the fact that the navigation apps weren't easy to see when I manually used the phone for a phone call. There are two more Unless you use a different app or download offline maps from the internet, there's no navigation when you don't have cellular coverage. There are 3 more I never found the offline maps to work for me, there was always a problem with resolution that I could not resolve. Offline mode was not always used to work in general. I tried some of the other free offline navigation apps, but they seemed to be behind in updates, and did not seem refined, leaving me with a slight but ever present apprehension in my mind. I didn't like the small screen size when in portrait mode, even though I had an iPhone Plus. There are five The navigation app on my cellphone ran in the background and was not visible to view. I didn't see all of the trip info functions that the vehicle navigators offered. The app navigators had the same trip info, but it was hard to see. The DriveSmart 65 was more expensive than the 55, but the extras screen real estate was worth a few extra dollars for me. It is hardware. The screen is beautiful! Great resolution and bright colors. The brightness is turned up all the way. The 6.9 inch is the perfect size for me since I like to have all of the trip data functions showing on the screen at all times while allowing for ample space for the map/ navigation which is the most important part. The screen seems to be made of glass, but I am not sure if it is scratch resistant. The frame has a minimal amount of bezel which adds to visual appeal but makes accidental touches easy when trying to adjust the postition/angle of the unit on the mount. The screen is responsive to touch and there is little lag navigating through the menus, as it should be for a device at this price point. The speaker is loud and clear. I don't know what processor is in the unit, but I hope it is an upgrade from last year's model. It is smart to get the best hardware within your means, especially if you plan on keeping the device for several years, to ensure it will be able to effectively run the software updates. I don't like the way the power cord plugs into the back of the device. It would be great if it was plugged into the side or bottom, because it would be easier to mount the device on a desk if the power cord was not sticking out. The mount is standard and works well for mounting on a window, but I have seen it fall off of a vehicle. I bought a friction dash mount from Garmin because it seems to work well for now. I can't state my findings because I haven't had the battery disconnected from a power source for that long. It is very easy to use the software. It seems that the years of production have allowed time for most bugs to be worked out. The high detail map option provides a lot of detail and is helpful in keeping the user oriented from a geographical perspective. When you zoom out with the intent to use it indefinitely, the unit will automatically zoom you back in to the default setting, even though it does not really want you to have full reign on the map. You can have phone notifications for email/text/etc to show on the unit if you sync your phone to it. The option to make and receive phone calls when you sync the device to your phone is available for those that may need it. The unit has the ability to update maps without a computer. After attempting to update the maps 4 times, I got error code each time and the device aborted the process. Maybe it is because my internet connection is not high-speed. It will be great to see if there is a similar issue among other people. The maps will have to be updated with a PC. Conclusions: The device performs well as expected. Excellent native route planning and accurate navigation. The screen is bright and high resolution. It's right in the sweet spot. I am not convinced that the features this unit offers are practical enough to justify the higher price. If the processor is better than last year's model, this is a good value. It was a factual decision. I don't have to use my phone as my main navigation when I have a stand-alone navigator. Happy with the purchase, even though I mentioned some things. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a navigator.
