It's easy to use a gps navigator. The maps are easy to see. alternate routes are suggested by the traffic company. Yes, the backup camera is compatible with BC 30 or BC 40. Voice activated and ability to pair with a compatible phone. Notable historic sites and the U.S national parks directory are part of the HISTORY network. Without a computer, built in wi-fi for map and software updates.
👤I used a cellphone as my primary navigation tool and purchased the DriveSmart 65. The cellphone navigation systems are great, but I didn't like the convenience of the stand-alone units. I didn't like the fact that the navigation apps weren't easy to see when I manually used the phone for a phone call. There are two more Unless you use a different app or download offline maps from the internet, there's no navigation when you don't have cellular coverage. There are 3 more I never found the offline maps to work for me, there was always a problem with resolution that I could not resolve. Offline mode was not always used to work in general. I tried some of the other free offline navigation apps, but they seemed to be behind in updates, and did not seem refined, leaving me with a slight but ever present apprehension in my mind. I didn't like the small screen size when in portrait mode, even though I had an iPhone Plus. There are five The navigation app on my cellphone ran in the background and was not visible to view. I didn't see all of the trip info functions that the vehicle navigators offered. The app navigators had the same trip info, but it was hard to see. The DriveSmart 65 was more expensive than the 55, but the extras screen real estate was worth a few extra dollars for me. It is hardware. The screen is beautiful! Great resolution and bright colors. The brightness is turned up all the way. The 6.9 inch is the perfect size for me since I like to have all of the trip data functions showing on the screen at all times while allowing for ample space for the map/ navigation which is the most important part. The screen seems to be made of glass, but I am not sure if it is scratch resistant. The frame has a minimal amount of bezel which adds to visual appeal but makes accidental touches easy when trying to adjust the postition/angle of the unit on the mount. The screen is responsive to touch and there is little lag navigating through the menus, as it should be for a device at this price point. The speaker is loud and clear. I don't know what processor is in the unit, but I hope it is an upgrade from last year's model. It is smart to get the best hardware within your means, especially if you plan on keeping the device for several years, to ensure it will be able to effectively run the software updates. I don't like the way the power cord plugs into the back of the device. It would be great if it was plugged into the side or bottom, because it would be easier to mount the device on a desk if the power cord was not sticking out. The mount is standard and works well for mounting on a window, but I have seen it fall off of a vehicle. I bought a friction dash mount from Garmin because it seems to work well for now. I can't state my findings because I haven't had the battery disconnected from a power source for that long. It is very easy to use the software. It seems that the years of production have allowed time for most bugs to be worked out. The high detail map option provides a lot of detail and is helpful in keeping the user oriented from a geographical perspective. When you zoom out with the intent to use it indefinitely, the unit will automatically zoom you back in to the default setting, even though it does not really want you to have full reign on the map. You can have phone notifications for email/text/etc to show on the unit if you sync your phone to it. The option to make and receive phone calls when you sync the device to your phone is available for those that may need it. The unit has the ability to update maps without a computer. After attempting to update the maps 4 times, I got error code each time and the device aborted the process. Maybe it is because my internet connection is not high-speed. It will be great to see if there is a similar issue among other people. The maps will have to be updated with a PC. Conclusions: The device performs well as expected. Excellent native route planning and accurate navigation. The screen is bright and high resolution. It's right in the sweet spot. I am not convinced that the features this unit offers are practical enough to justify the higher price. If the processor is better than last year's model, this is a good value. It was a factual decision. I don't have to use my phone as my main navigation when I have a stand-alone navigator. Happy with the purchase, even though I mentioned some things. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a navigator.
The navigator has a dual-orientation display and map updates of North America. You can ask for directions to places you want to go with the help of the voice assist feature on your compatible phone. Road trip features include a HISTORY database of notable sites, a U.S. national parks directory, and millions of Foursquare POIs. School zones, sharp curves, and speed changes help encourage safer driving. You can access live traffic, fuel prices, weather, parking, and smart notifications when you pair this navigator with your compatible phone. Drivers should only use the function when they are safe to do so. You can ask to play music, listen to audiobooks, hear the news, and more while you keep your hands on the wheel and eyes on the road if you pair the Garmin Drive app with your compatible phone. Without a computer, map and software updates can be made. There is an extra charging port for phones, tablets or other electronics included.
👤I bought this for my job. I drive from site to site all day long. When you tap on the client site address buttons in the app, you will be taken to the maps app and the addresses will be automatically inserted. I wanted this gps to integrate with my phone so I wouldn't use it. A special team was working with the internet giant. You can share maps with the gps via the app. Great. I can easily shoot those addresses to the gps device. I thought so. That's fine and well, but it's the worst. Absolutely the worst. The drive to work in the morning was the first test. I was told to take all of these. I know how to get there. I used the gps to zoom out on my way to work. It was going to the ocean. The routes the gps received were all over the place. It never took me to the right place. I would fire everyone involved. If I abandoned the export-to-Drive method and just copied and pasted the addresses from Maps to the Drive app directly, it worked without issues at least 90% of the time. I still had issues with the gps search telling me that addresses don't exist manually. The same input is found on the maps. It took me 20 minutes to the northeast of town when the actual location was 5 minutes away, which was fine with the maps. The address was entered directly into the gps. I would advise you to double check all of your addresses and routes before you even start driving, because it will save you an hour and a half plus fuel costs. I gave it 3 stars because of my reason for buying. You only have one job to find addresses. If I enter a valid address and you can't find it, you failed at your job. The larger screen, the8", would be a good place to burn the extra cash. It's stopping for no reason. I've been within a few turns of my destination and the gps just stops. It shows the map, but not the navigation. The unit is completely frozen when I pull over. I have to power cycle it and then enter the address again. I'll stop at a gas station for gas and the unit will stay on 12v and I should be fine. Not always. The gps screen can be turned off. The power button does not do anything. The power button is not important. I have to plug the power back in and start navigation again after I have unplugged the power completely. There's still full current to the plug it's connected to. It's been just shy of a month since my last update. I had no freezing or unresponsiveness issues for about two weeks. I can only assume that the update has fixed something. When the power is cut, the device shuts off. If you hit the power button, it will be hard to turn it back on. Hold the button for a while and wait. It will turn on. It takes time to do it. There is a That's pretty conclusive for me. I think I'm done. Good luck with the way people drive.
The gps navigator has connected features and a bright display. There are maps of North America with free lifetime updates. Use their mount to secure nvi to a mount. The package only includes a mount. Live traffic and Live parking are available when using the free link app on your compatible phone. This device is compatible with Windows and Mac OS X. There are voice-activated navigation and smart notifications. The battery life is up to an hour. The display is built in with built-in wi-fi for easy map and software updates.
👤I have never owned a worse gps. The screen is fast and responsive, but where it really matters is navigation, and this gps is terrible. I just drove from Chicago to Seattle after it had the latest maps updated, and I was amazed at how poor its navigation guidance was, and how full of errors it was. It tells me to take pointless detours. It tells me I am going the wrong way when I am not. I am sent on goose chases for restaurants that don't exist. I've owned many of the Garmin units over the years, but this one is a dud. It's important to know that the gps is not traffic aware out of the box. It wants to be connected to your phone. If I have a data connection on my phone, why would I use a gps device?
👤I don't know if it's a software problem, but the DriveSmart gives bad directions. When I tested it out on my drive back home, I was sent in an unnecessary loop when I needed to make a left turn. There was no complex about the road. I've tested it on the highways and it sends me to the back alleys. It doesn't give me many alternate routes. I have an older version of Nuvi that does not have this issue. The screen is touch responsive and has internet. I want it to give me accurate directions. I used my old Nuvi 57 again after putting the DriveSmart in my trunk. Hopefully this is a software issue and can be fixed with an update. I should have listened to the previous reviews on Amazon.
👤I was hoping that a gps unit would give me everything G***** Maps has to offer when I am out of cell range. This is very close. It does voice commands well. I used it in Death Valley and on remote gravel roads in West Virginia, and it had the back roads in it's database. I would use it for hiking if they would offer topo maps for it because the screen size is better than my handheld and the operator interface is nicer. The DriveSmart 51 needs a better route preview feature to let me confirm which route it has chosen for me to take. If I want to confirm the route, I have to enter the destination into both G**** Maps on my phone and into the DriveSmart 51, and if the miles distance is the same, I can review it on my phone. This is not good. If I wanted to go to this trouble, I would just cache a bunch of maps on my phone, but this is also a time and data killer when traveling as much as I do. Dumping the accessory and providing the traffic-receiving car charging would be two improvements I would make. The screen is hard on the eyes when placed too far away. A $20 vent holder works better than a $20 phone holder, but they should decrease the thickness of the unit to make it more phone-like to fit in a vent holder. I got a Bestrixs one that works perfectly.
A built-in dash cam and powered magnetic mount make the all-in-one 7” truck navigator a must have. Alert for upcoming bridge heights, steep grades and more are included in the custom truck route. Live services, such as traffic and weather, can be accessed via the Smartphone Link app. Easy Break Planning with timely notifications and a Truck & Trailer Services directory, is a great way to plan a break. Control dzl cam with your voice, and enjoy hands-free calling, smart notifications, and built-in wi-fi for easy map and software updates without a computer.
👤This thing is better than my old one. Within a year, that broke. There are unknown causes. It's built strong. Good mount. I use my phone to get traffic and weather updates. The picture is perfect. The sounds are clear. This thing is highly recommended by me.
👤I'm a truck driver and this is the best gps I've ever seen.
👤This is my first truck version and I have owned many other products. I own a Rand McNally 540 and it is blowing away. You can only input it manually with my voice recognition. The Farmin has a car mode so it acts like a normal gps without the truck restrictions. This thing has a dash cam that can be used to add a wireless background check. I believe the normal cost is 499.00. I refurbished this for a third of its original price and it is in great shape.
👤The refurbished unit was several hundred less expensive than the new one. We added a 3 year warranty just in case. The unit is new, but you can see a few scratches on the connection. The camera came with Micro SD cards. The forward warning and lane assist features are useful. We use it in a van. The dash cam quality is decent, but not as good as a cheaper off brand dash cam that we have in another van. It's nice to have everything in one unit, it's nice to not have to clean up the ports. The gps has worked well and was updated to the latest maps. When you first turn it on occasionally, it will restart, but you can turn it off and on again. It works well for the rest of the day. The rebooting is what they do when they have a few of these. A nice big gps has some nice features. Sometimes you have to change a route because it's not a map from the internet. In the middle of no cell service, the gps will work where other data based devices will not. If you do service and need a way to track vehicles without monthly fees or just want a nice gps for use, then this will do the job.
👤This is something I will never do again. The gps is garbage. I can not say it differently. The screen was not working. It took me a couple of days to get the updates. The gps can't find Atlanta GA. I got both maps with the update. Both North America and Europe. There is a I was happy about it. There is a Nothing is working. I am a professional truck driver. I take this with me on the road. On the first day, it could find the address of the sender and the address of the receiver. I tried again the next night and nothing happened. I tried to enter my home address, but nothing came up. The only thing that worked was to get to the truck stop. There is a I said not entirely. After an hour or two, it stopped working. It will be great if you get a warning on the screen that you have to press and accept to move on to the next screen. After a while, it will turn off and ask you to confirm your vehicle information, and then it won't continue to stop at the truck stop that you have selected. I am so disappointed.

👤Huge fan! The screen is great. Very clear. It works so far. This has more functions than I need, but they are still cool. The price was so low that I expected more junk. I am very happy. I'm excited about figuring out all of these functions.
👤Unless you want to visit every off ramp on your journey, you don't want this navigation device. I was prompted to leave the highway at every exit on a major route. If you are off track, a gps device will prompt this, but it wasn't the case. I was on my way. The device was rendered useless if not just annoying. This device was unable to find any destinations I needed to travel to unless it was a major city. My first use was after the return window, so I am stuck with a $70 mistake. Take a hard pass on this item.
👤Where do I start? I bought this for Christmas. We tried to set it up today. We haven't been able to travel with the New England winter and the Pandemic. It is out of the return date now. The instruction manual is written by a person with a very loose grasp of the English language. There is no back arrow in the manual. It's beyond frustrating. I should have bought a Tom Tom. I bought this because it was an Amazon Choice. I made that mistake last time. I am not happy with Amazon. Don't buy if you're warned.
👤I bought this a month or so ago and will use it for a road trip this weekend. This thing takes you on some very strange routes and it was only because we knew where we were going that it was only an hour and a half away from where we were. I am out of the return policy so I will sell this on eBay for $5 and try another device with maps, as I can't return this now. Don't waste your time or money, just get a decent make. This is my first negative review.
👤I live in Florida. The product cannot be used from my home to my work. It can't navigate to my wife's work. It can't navigate to Disney World. I haven't found an address in the city. I don't like using my phone for navigation as I can't listen to music while driving, but my phone is accurate and I use it for maps.
👤The item under review is clearly out in front and it was clearly out in front when it was compared to its predecessors. I'm relieved that it arrived and installed, but I was also aware that it was going to rise like the sun on a new day, hurray!
👤75% of the update is not working. 59, 69, and now 78. All within a year. It is not all that. My phone was malfunctioning, so my story is that. All of them, including the maps on the internet. The company is taking over. My phone wouldn't work in traffic. So with bad scare instructions. I got going today. It was tested out on three trips. The voice was working after I unchecked the app. It needs to be more secure on the dashboard of the car. As a widow, I feel better to travel. I'm happy. I'm not interested in the other features. Yeah for it! Yeah for me! 50 bucks was worth it. I don't have a new car yet, but this is great. It's worth it if it lasts a year. &
The RV and camping enthusiast needs a navigator. RV navigator with high-resolution 6 95” edge-to-edge display. The size and weight of your RV are taken into account to find the best route for your vehicle. Always check the appropriateness of route suggestions and defer to the posted road signs. Road warnings to keep you aware of steep grades, sharp curves, weight limits and more. A directory of RV parks and services is included along with integrated content from Ultimate Public Campgrounds, Plan TripAdvisor, and more. Pair with your compatible phone to get access to hands-free calling and notifications, and also to have voice-activated navigation for convenience on the road. You can download the free app to access live traffic and weather.
👤This was what I needed after two nightmare trips up the East Coast of the USA using other map products and even a Truck gps on my phone. This thing is different from everything else I have tried because it allows you to define how much propane you have on board so that it is precise for tunnels. If you use the drive app, the traffic seems to be more accurate. I can't say the unit ever used the built in traffic feature, but it did an excellent job of calculated true time in traffic and actual arrival times. I liked the pictures of the lane and the street signs. I like the driver assistance alert, which is fun when the light is short and you are pulling 13k pounds, and the reminders to turn off propane due to state law. I haven't tried voice recognition yet because it asked me if I wanted to re-route to save 90 minutes when the unit alerted me of a traffic event. I said "yes" and it re-routed my voice. I found the up-ahead feature to be very useful, as it shows gas stations, rest areas and RV parks at every exit up ahead. It made me feel more confident that the truck would make it to the next fuel stop given how much fuel it uses while towing, and it was useful to keep the kids content so they knew when the next bathroom stop was. I can't use software like my built in phone navigation in the future. This is a life saver for an RV. It was well worth the price and saved me a lot of grief on my first road trip. Good job!
👤This is an upgrade from the nuvi 3597LMTHD. I use it to tow a travel trailer and also use it in a high-roof van conversion. The special features for RVs seemed to be a good reason to switch. It was disappointing initially. There are RV specific features and the screen is bigger, but not dual orientation. The user interface seems clumsy compared to the 3597 The internet link is useful, but limited since it only does the ocassional updates. Compatibility with the BaseCamp program is more important to me. I use BaseCamp on my laptop to combine scenic routes, gas stops and friend visits that are not possible with direct navigation. It can be done on the 780, but it's much easier in BaseCamp, where you can sit comfortably with a larger computer screen, access to a search engine and have no battery life limitations. I haven't thought about it yet, but having the link work for everything seems to be a great feature improvement. The RV780 is able to connect to the computer via the mini-usb/usb cable. It works with the Express. Waypoints are recognized by the BaseCamp program and can be transferred. Didn't transfer saved routes. I tried it with internal memory and it works well with the 3597, so I know the file is good. Before purchasing, I checked with Garmin Support and they said that it wouldn't be compatible. The agent I spoke with was knowledgeable. BaseCamp doesn't support the "Propane Tanks" setting in the RV780 vehicle profile, so those have to be deleted on the RV780 for the routes from BaseCamp to load. It's not a fix. The agent said that the propane tank can be re-applied after the routes are loaded. They have known about it since the RV770 does it, but don't have a real solution. The navigation, map, and feature search functions work well despite BaseCamp compatibility. The larger display makes it easier to read the map while driving and the extra resolution makes orientation ok, but the touchscreen seems not to be responsive as the 3597 is. The speaker is loud and clear. The unit is designed to be installed in the vehicle. It takes a counter-intuitive pull on the mount latch to remove it. It was designed to stay on the dash and do as much as possible without a computer. I can see how it's a good idea for a lot of people. I haven't used the app yet. I got a separate gps unit because I'm not dependent on cell phone coverage or data plan charges, but I may experiment and see how useful it is. Back on the road. As I learn more, there will be more updates.
CUBE will ring if you press find and use the app to show last known location on a map. If you leave something behind, there is a separation alarm. Free lifetime map updates and Live traffic are included with the 5.0” truck navigator. Alert for upcoming Bridge heights, weight limits, and custom truck route for the size and weight of your truck. The display resolution is 480 x272. There is an easy break plan with notifications for breaks and road signs to suggest nearby restaurants. Truck stops by brand and amenities are included in the truck and trailer services directory. Control dzl with your voice, and enjoy built-in wi-fi and hands-free calling. This device is compatible with Windows and Mac OS X.
👤I dislike this device. Disappointed with the navigation. 1. The designated Class truck routes are not shown. 2. It doesn't show the bridge heights. I need these two items in my gps device. The information is on my maps. The reviews of the gps manufacturers were not as good as the reviews of the other manufacturers, and I believe that the information and technology is not available with any gps manufacturers. The database will be very successful if a product is created with it. The fit and finish is what I like. Thank you, but you are disappointed.
👤The features are great, the display is great, and the main part is great. The navigation on garmins is terrible. It will usually bring you a longer way even with the shortest route applied. In truck mode, even with the size of the vehicle entered, it brings you down a lot of dead end roads. There is no need to purchase a separate unit for the better maps. This may be the case in Maine and New Hampshire, but not in other states.
👤The gps works well. I like that you can set it up for doubles and triples, I also like that it works better with my phone, and that it's easy to use with my phone. So far, it is very accurate.
👤This is a good tool for drivers. I was going to be delayed by 2 hours in Idaho due to construction. I was routed around it. It will warn you about accidents, construction, objects in the road, and other things that have been reported to it. The speed limits in Montana are not correct. It shows 70mph for back highways and 65 for freeways, but it has a state border off by about 4 miles. It needs some map updates. It will show you the weather in your route. A gps is not a rule. Use common sense and always read highway signs.
👤I would like to see a version of the maps for commercial trucks. The only way I could use a gps device was with my phone. The product does not recognize new roads or buildings. There is nothing in the new warehouses according to Garmin. That's where the maps come in. In Phoenix AZ, a new stretch of loop 202 going south is open since December, but not for Garmin. I wanted to get on I55 North from Damen Ave but my new $300 gps said "No trucks", which is not true. The navigation system should be less than $75. It is important for Garmin to keep its maps up to date. I spent $300 and updated my maps to be able to find a warehouse that was built more than a year ago. I'm planning to return the gps because it's not very accurate. I'll check out a Rand Mcnally, hopefully it's better than the other one.
👤This gps has gotten me in trouble with taking me down places. If I worked days I would be screwed at times from using this gps sent me down roads with cars parked on both side in residential areas.

👤This is a device that is designed for trucks. I use it in my car and frequently rent trucks. You can still use this model if you never drive a truck. When you start it, it asks which vehicle you are using it for. The start-up process is immediately happening. There could be a wait until it's ready to go. The key thing that makes this gps superior is that it knows how tall your truck is once you set it up. You can input the truck's weight and width. This is important when driving your truck into unknown territory, as the Garmin knows which overpasses you can't fit under. You don't want to follow the unit blindly if it's wrong about the height, so keep reading the clearance height signs. Lifetime map updates are free with this model.
👤I use a gps device for trucking. It is easy to use and accurate. The weather radar keeps me informed. It is nice to know that there is a scale ahead. There are rest areas, truck parking, fuel stops and more. The unit I bought was brand new. It took 4 hours to update from the internet. I got a 3 year trade in plan for 14 so I know if the unit fails. So far, it's been good, 5000+ miles and makes life less tiring.
👤The product is no longer working. It won't go on and it's fully charged. The return window is closed. Is there anything I can do to get a return on this product? We only had it for 5 months.
👤A winner. It took 5 seconds to get satellites out of the box. The longest was 20 seconds. The screen is easy to read in the sun. The auto-zoom can be turned off. You can use 2D or 3D. You can either see upcoming services or not on the map. I don't like the blue squares on the map because they cover up a lot of the map. When you tap your car icon in the center of the map, you will see a screen with information about your location, and on the right side, you can choose services such as gas, restaurants, or hospitals, and once you tap one, it will take you there. The left and right boxes show information, but the right one can be set to show freeway mile markers, estimated time of arrival, or elevation. I was surprised to see the mile markers on major US highways, like US 84 and US 231 here in Alabama. The map can be set for sparse, medium, or busy, and can have always-North orientation or turn with the vehicle. There is a small scale indicator that shows you how far away you are from the map. The green top ribbon on the display shows upcoming cross-streets and warnings for drops in speed limit, school zones, railroad crossing and sharp curves ahead. It warns on the red light cameras when you are on the freeway and the camera is on the street below, a bit of a startle to the first time I saw that. The unit has no lag. You can see the display at 30 mph, but you have to go past a cross street. It takes 2 seconds for the gps to show that the railroad crossing has passed. The icon can be set to different graphics. I chose the blue one. There is an arrowhead. It has a red tip on one of the rear fins, giving me the impression that this is the direction in which we are headed. You can't change the color of the triangle. There are trucks and vans. In my neighborhood there has been a lot of recent building and new roads, but the maps are up to date. Updating the map is easy if you take the unit out of the box. Plug the unit into the dash holder and then download garminexpress.exe, which will do all the rest for you. The update might take three hours, but mine took 15 minutes. When the power is on, the unit comes on automatically. The mount allows the unit to be pointed in any direction you want. There are no flimsy plastic parts that are just waiting to break. The 5-inch screen is large for me. An excellent unit with lots of ways to personalize. I haven't tried voice recognition.
There is an extra charging port for phones, tablets or other electronics included. GARMIN USA is authorized and includes a full warranty. This large navigator has a bright, high-resolution edge-to-edge display so you can easily see important information. RV 890 takes into account the size and weight of your RV, then suggests a route. You can save profiles for more than one vehicle. RV 890 includes: vehicle suction cup with powered magnetic mount, screw down mount, 1" ball adapter with AMPS plate, vehicle power cable, Documentation, and limited warranty. There is a bundle included. There is a hard shell case for tablets and gps. The dual DC12V 24V Electronic Multifunction Car Socket Cigarette Lighters have a Universal WeightedGPS Dash-Mount.
👤Went on our first trip with a gps navigator. The trip was to the Hill Country of Texas. On the first day, the RV was filled with gas and turned on. It had a clear picture and an easy to follow indicator. We were familiar with the area and started asking questions. We paid five hundred dollars for the thing and assumed it knew what it was doing. We passed the same gas station an hour later. We decided to travel a bit and give the Navigator a second chance because we knew the route to our destination. It was once again sending us to unknown places, and not in the direction we wanted to go. The Garmin was given another chance. We were completely dependent on the Navigator this time. After an hour of right and left turns, we were back where we started. That's all it took. We used a phone app to take us to where we were going. We decided to program the phone app. They were at odds immediately. We followed the phone app because of our lack of confidence in the Garmin. The phone app took us directly to where we wanted to go when the Garmin tried to take us on strange roads. The driver of the vehicle will never make it unless they use a similar device.
👤I like the large screen and the unit speaks clearly, usually getting the names of streets right. It does a good job of notifying people when there is a reduction in speed limit or a school crossing. It seems to work well as a gps, but it does not learn. I have been using it to drive to and from work. The route is the same every time. The most direct route is via city streets, but the RV-890 always directs me to the interstate highway. The RV-890 seems incapable of learning my habits, like the Tom Tom gps did. -- It takes a couple of minutes for it to fully load, but it boots up quickly. It acts more like a computer than a gps. When touching the screen, be careful to be still and precise. It is difficult in a vehicle. -- It is not possible to make a different vehicle meme. The cars are all blue. As my truck is red, I am using a red triangle as my car. I haven't used it with the trailer yet, so I can't comment on its usefulness.
👤Great product! It is easy to program. We got to and from our destination in a motor home. Our directions were correct. We have no issues going down roads or under bridges with our RV's height or width.
👤The gps is a 4.5 but the customer service and extras are a 1 so I had to give this a 3. The gps is very nice. There is a big screen with lots of information. The biggest complaint I have is it doesn't hold a charge very long which would not be a problem since you can use the gps while plugged in. I was able to use the phone charge that I had. The seller has not responded to my message about the car charge.

👤I assumed that this unit came pre- loaded with US maps, because I live in Alaska and it is in the United States. We've been a state since 1959. Look at the map. We are in the same area as the rest of the US. We are on the map because we aren't drawn to scale. There is a unit that includes Canada maps and costs more than the one that includes Alaska. Alaska is not in Canada. Alaska is not in Canada. I can't believe I have to tell you this. I don't have time to buy another unit when we leave for the trip. It's very disappointing to find that my gps is missing 18.2% of the US, even though it comes with US maps and lifetime updates. Yes, that's correct. The person said that it was the Garmin. Alaska is 18.2% of the United States and you expect me to pay more for Canada just to get the 18.2% that you failed to deliver. How do you get away with shorting your customers? Go to school with your navigator. Figure it out. I live in Alaska and I'm tired of being treated differently.
👤Three weeks ago, my husband had a stroke. I had to drive to strange cities in order to get him to his appointments. I never had a good sense of direction. My husband always took me places. I was forced to be the driver when the stroke happened. The gps device is a life saver for me. I don't know what I would do without it. If I hear that my husband has to go to such a place, I am no longer afraid to drive him because the gps device will tell me exactly where to go. I was afraid to drive because I didn't have a good sense of direction. I would be terrified if there was a detour. The device took the fear away from me and made me feel better. I am able to get my husband to the places he needs to go. I will not be without this device again.
👤I hope everyone that brought one of the gps's had better luck than I did. I put it away until this summer when I will be on vacation. If the car was turned off, it kept turning off. I plugged it in to the out so it wouldn't go out. I pushed the on/off button every time it came on, and it would go off again. The power wire may be short or the battery may be bad. Over the last ten years, I have brought four or five gps's from Amazon and had no issues with them. If you need to return it, make sure you check it out before you do so.
👤I bought the gps unit for my phone so I could have a backup for my trip from Illinois to California. I found myself using the gps device 99% of the time. I use 99% of the time without using maps from the internet. I like this more than the maps on the internet. The split screen was very informative, with large lane guidance in unfamiliar areas and upcoming stops displayed next to the map, without having to navigate away from the live map. It's not a problem with long stretches of roads, but in a city, the ability to show important stops like gas, food and rest stops without having to risk going away from the map and losing a turn is a problem. 2. The "Up next" info was the most useful feature for me, as it was the most important thing during a long trip. Next to the map are food, fuel and rest areas. If the next gas station was going to be 100 miles away, I could get fuel at the upcoming station. I ran out of fuel a couple of times in the middle of the AZ/NM/NV area. 3. The current speed limit was helpful and I found it was about 100 yards off from the posted speed limit signs. This is better than a map that doesn't have any information at all. 4. Offline navigation! I brought a dedicated gps unit because of this. I don't think it's right to not have navigation in the middle of Arizona/Utah because of the lack of phone coverage. After using a dedicated gps, I will say that I probably will use it for all my long distance driving, and leave my phone always connected to the charge. I still prefer to use the internet for inner city navigation.
