👤I don't know how many gpss I have used on a motorcycle. I think it's around 10. The motorcycle specific Gps are the first I have tried and they are too small for my liking. I have had it for about a year. My actual use has been limited because of the lack of appeal to ride in our Florida heat and humidity. There are a few observations about the screen. Even in direct sunlight, it is bright and readable. It's better than any of the previous ones I've used. Big plus! The data fields are easy to read, and the speed indicator glows red when you are speeding. The screen on the gps is glove friendly. Maybe this year I will be able to escape from Florida. The screen is a perfect size. The last 3 gpss I used were massive trucks. Big, easy to read, and extremely competent, but bulky. The larger, dimmer screen on the others is not as bright as the brighter screen on this, and the smaller overall size fits into the dash area better. Another plus. The Zumo is impervious to rain. The automotive/truckGPSs I have been using were not up to date. It's nice to no longer worry about the gps getting wet. The standard 1” ball mount was used for the gps. There is no need for special cradles or adapters. I decided to use the previously installed Ram ball and a 6” arm I already had in a big box of extra Ram stuff instead of using the bar mount and arm. The included dock/mount seems to hold the gps in place. You can remove the gps in a split second if you push a button on the back. The cable stays with the mount. The rubber cover for the contacts is included when the gps is not installed. Installation is very fast. Simply clip it back on. It's great if you have a place to securely store the gps. Some people may think that a thief can push the same button and walk away with your gps. The wiring was easy to follow. You need a negative and positive wire. I don't have to worry about messing with the gps because my car is wired to a hot-all-the-time circuit. The map retains detail when you zoom in, which is something I believe will make this gps more useful than any of the newer gpss I have used. I don't follow a pre-determined route on the bike. On the bike, I usually wing it, with only a general idea of where I'm headed, using the gps more as an electronic road atlas than just blindly following a route. You can still see the secondary roads with the map detail turned all the way up. Secondary roads are usually disabled above.3 or.500 miles. If you want to know where that little road you are thinking of exploring goes to, you might be able to see by zooming out, instead of having to scroll around and lose perspective. I prefer to adjust the zoom level myself when underway. The auto zoom seems to work at a useful level so far. I will try it. Time will tell... I just set it manually because I got tired of it zooming in and out on it's own. For the first year that I had this gps, I had a problem with how it handled points of interest. For the uninitiated and non-geeks, custom points of interest are lists of locations that may be of interest to you that would not normally be included with a gps's factory installed POIs. They can be a collection of stores or a collection of stores. The lists can be downloaded from a website, or you can make your own if you want to. The custom POIs were only accessible by digging into the menu system on the Zumo XT. A top level search didn't include custom POIs. I could live with that, but the worst thing for me was that there was no way to make the custom POI icons on the map. It's always nice to look at the map and see if one is close to something. The unit started showing custom POIs after the system update. "Up ahead" in the map settings menu must be checked to show your POIs. This will show the system icons for fuel, restaurants, and motorcycle related POIs, and it can make the screen a little busy, but hey, I'll take it. Speaking of POIs. I have found the pre-loaded POIs to be very inaccurate and frustrating to use. They have sent me on wild goose chases to businesses that were either notexistent or somewhere else. A big deal in a large RV is a frustrating annoyance on a motorcycle. Because of this, I stopped using Garmin's POIs a couple of years ago and now use other alternatives when searching for food, fuel, or anything else. Really? They could be better now. I don't know. I have been burned so many times that it will be a while before I try to use them again. I let the gps show me the nearest gas station for the first time since I owned it, against my better judgement. We went after it was shown to be close to us. I passed a gas station on the way that the gps didn't know about, and it took me about 5 blocks further up the street to a run down old building that was probably a gas station in a previous life. We were checking out an RV park for a future trip later that day, and I let the gps search for nearby RV parks on my phone. It didn't know that the RV park was established. The bottom line. If you need to find a place, don't use the POIs. You can enter the address into the gps by searching for it on your cell phone. The weather radar is connected to your phone through a wireless connection. I haven't had any showers that chase me around yet, but it all seems to work if you have a good wireless data signal. This feature is really cool. I have only used it for short trips, but if it's like any of my other current ones, they will find the address and you can be pretty confident they will get you there eventually, but will also sometimes choose strange routes. Always take a quick look at the proposed route, and always choose common sense over what a gps tells you. This thing is expensive. It's very expensive. It is the most expensive non-marine gps I have ever purchased. I would buy it again in a second. I still think it's great and would not want to be without it. As time goes on, I will probably update this review.

👤I bought this for my mother because she has a difficult time with smart phones and she needed a gps. I needed something that was of decent quality but not very expensive and what I got was better than I had expected. Satellite acquisition and navigation are both accurate. You can enter where you want to go and just leave. Extra features include games, music player, video player and others. The internal battery in the box is charged when you take it off the mount, so you can bring it with you. A nice touch. The screen is accurate and the unit is touchscreen based. gps units like this are usually not good but this one is. I never had to touch a button more than once. It's better than the option built into my car dash. It has multiple voices to pick from in multiple languages. They are still easy to understand, they have a digital sound to them. I had a British female voice. This is a good unit for the price. The big screen is easy to read. 2d and 3d navigation modes and more. There is only one downside... The built in snake game was made by a person who had never played a snake before. Not really. I almost forgot. The packaging is pretty good. It comes in a nice box. Not the most important thing in the world. I like good packaging since most things come in a plain white box. I would buy it again. My mother likes it. She was routed around traffic and construction twice, and it kept her from getting lost.

👤The main reason I think this is a 2 star is 1. It takes time to charge... I left the plug in the wall for 2 days, and then quit because I found out the best way to charge it is to use the car charge it comes with. 2. It'sTTERY LIFE! Wow! If you're planning on going on a long road trip or just driving for a short time, don't worry, the battery will run out quickly and you can't just use the car charge. 3. I wanted something that told me where to go, so I tried to be more than just a gps. I'm pretty sure most of the people who bought this just wanted a gps device, and I believe there's even a option to watch movies on it. I can't recommend this for the price and the other problems I have with it, but I would give it a 1 star if I had to. There was no lag during driving. I gave it an extra point.

👤The little unit is bright. It works as advertised. It doesn't have smart guessing for address because it doesn't connect to the internet. It is easy after you put country and city. It's a great addition to your vehicles.

👤When I lost my cell phone service in Dallas for half a day, I needed aGPS back up. The screen is big and clear. It is easy to see where you need to go. Even if you don't have cell phone reception, it works. Highly recommended.

3. Garmin DriveSmart Traffic Hands Free Information

Garmin DriveSmart Traffic Hands Free Information

It's easy to use a gps navigator. The maps are easy to see. alternate routes are suggested by the traffic company. Yes, the backup camera is compatible with BC 30 or BC 40. Voice activated and ability to pair with a compatible phone. Notable historic sites and the U.S national parks directory are part of the HISTORY network. Without a computer, built in wi-fi for map and software updates.

Brand: Garmin

👤I used a cellphone as my primary navigation tool and purchased the DriveSmart 65. The cellphone navigation systems are great, but I didn't like the convenience of the stand-alone units. I didn't like the fact that the navigation apps weren't easy to see when I manually used the phone for a phone call. There are two more Unless you use a different app or download offline maps from the internet, there's no navigation when you don't have cellular coverage. There are 3 more I never found the offline maps to work for me, there was always a problem with resolution that I could not resolve. Offline mode was not always used to work in general. I tried some of the other free offline navigation apps, but they seemed to be behind in updates, and did not seem refined, leaving me with a slight but ever present apprehension in my mind. I didn't like the small screen size when in portrait mode, even though I had an iPhone Plus. There are five The navigation app on my cellphone ran in the background and was not visible to view. I didn't see all of the trip info functions that the vehicle navigators offered. The app navigators had the same trip info, but it was hard to see. The DriveSmart 65 was more expensive than the 55, but the extras screen real estate was worth a few extra dollars for me. It is hardware. The screen is beautiful! Great resolution and bright colors. The brightness is turned up all the way. The 6.9 inch is the perfect size for me since I like to have all of the trip data functions showing on the screen at all times while allowing for ample space for the map/ navigation which is the most important part. The screen seems to be made of glass, but I am not sure if it is scratch resistant. The frame has a minimal amount of bezel which adds to visual appeal but makes accidental touches easy when trying to adjust the postition/angle of the unit on the mount. The screen is responsive to touch and there is little lag navigating through the menus, as it should be for a device at this price point. The speaker is loud and clear. I don't know what processor is in the unit, but I hope it is an upgrade from last year's model. It is smart to get the best hardware within your means, especially if you plan on keeping the device for several years, to ensure it will be able to effectively run the software updates. I don't like the way the power cord plugs into the back of the device. It would be great if it was plugged into the side or bottom, because it would be easier to mount the device on a desk if the power cord was not sticking out. The mount is standard and works well for mounting on a window, but I have seen it fall off of a vehicle. I bought a friction dash mount from Garmin because it seems to work well for now. I can't state my findings because I haven't had the battery disconnected from a power source for that long. It is very easy to use the software. It seems that the years of production have allowed time for most bugs to be worked out. The high detail map option provides a lot of detail and is helpful in keeping the user oriented from a geographical perspective. When you zoom out with the intent to use it indefinitely, the unit will automatically zoom you back in to the default setting, even though it does not really want you to have full reign on the map. You can have phone notifications for email/text/etc to show on the unit if you sync your phone to it. The option to make and receive phone calls when you sync the device to your phone is available for those that may need it. The unit has the ability to update maps without a computer. After attempting to update the maps 4 times, I got error code each time and the device aborted the process. Maybe it is because my internet connection is not high-speed. It will be great to see if there is a similar issue among other people. The maps will have to be updated with a PC. Conclusions: The device performs well as expected. Excellent native route planning and accurate navigation. The screen is bright and high resolution. It's right in the sweet spot. I am not convinced that the features this unit offers are practical enough to justify the higher price. If the processor is better than last year's model, this is a good value. It was a factual decision. I don't have to use my phone as my main navigation when I have a stand-alone navigator. Happy with the purchase, even though I mentioned some things. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a navigator.

4. Navigation Display Broadcast Contains Lifetime

👤The manual of How to Turn theGPS On, Download, whatever it needs, has no instructions. I held the button at the top of the gps but nothing happened. I clicked on the USA maps link on the website and it took me to a zip archive of 4.26 gigabytes on my Mac hard drive. It took about 5 hours. What should I do with this zip archive? I have had my Mac plugged in for the last two hours and it just keeps flashing blue lights from left to right. The manual doesn't explain why this is happening or what to do if it happens. The gps didn't seem to have any maps loaded when I turned it on.

👤Works well and for a good price. The touch screen works well. Load times are not very long. The mount works well and stays where it should once it is tightened down. It is possible to use a micro sd card to play music or listen to radio. There are a few games and a calculator in it. It doesn't say street or highway names, instead it says things like "turn right in 100 feet" or "get off the highway in a quarter mile" which can be easier to follow. It can be used to find places you have been to before. The ability to change the route is one of my favorite features. It has the ability to adapt to any mode of transportation you have available. The screen is large and bright. The speaker is loud enough to hear music, but there is an option to plug it into the car stereo to hear it better, but I can hear it by myself. It has worked every time, so far it hasn't gotten confused about where I am.

👤There are a few bugs that you'll have to deal with if you get this device. There is no consistency to the back button. When it starts charging, this device only turns on. The only thing it has is a button. The device won't turn on if it's fully charged. You have to wait for the battery to drain before you can turn it on. It's a good thing this doesn't fully charge, because you may have to turn it off when you finish a trip, like when you finish a book. If you do that, you can turn it on again without waiting if you plug it in. Javascript has to be turned off to visit the website. Be sure to read directions for how to update it. The cups don't work. The device would fall down a minute or so later, most spots it didn't work at all, the spots I found that did work. The device might be too large for some people. I didn't find the turn by turn directions list. This is much faster than my old Garmin, which has a map that expired about 6 years ago. There are free lifetime updates. Some devices don't offer this. The stuff it advertises, of course, is your choice of road announcers, some of which can read the street names.

👤The garmin 78sc worked for a week, then got an error message that it couldn't unlocks maps, and then they said garmin knew about the problem and a fix was being worked on.

👤I have used this device extensively, including over a 47 day kayak trip from Anacortes, Washington to Petersburg, AK. It's an awesome tool when it's functioning correctly. There are some design defects that need to be fixed. 1. The rubber covers for the power andusb ports leak salt water and can cause problems. Positive enclosures that never leak are what my other IPX 7 devices have. 2. The device consumes more power when loaded with a lot of waypoints. I was able to see this over a long period of time as I deleted routes and waypoints. As data grows, it never gets to sleep because the software loop always evaluates everything rather than what's currently relevant. 3. The unit OFTEN was locked up. This would require removing the protective cover and restarting. It's not something you want to do in windy conditions. I stopped using this feature eventually. I love it when it works. Before paddling on salt water, I have coated protective covers with Aquaseal. I have to remove it before I can connect it to the computer. They are very close to a great design and I want to love it. Wouldn't it be great if they listened to their customers better? January 7, 2020. I would like to add to my review. Over 34 days, last summer, circumnavigated the island by kayak. I loaded my gpsMAP with a lot of data. While following tracks the battery never locked up. I think software changes have fixed my complaints. Poor design of port covers will leak.

👤I bought the product to replace my old handheld 76c. It was a workhorse and the maps were small. The device could be used with WP. I was disappointed that the charts had no detail, like buoy markings, when I purchased the 78sc. I only had a giant marker on the scale of a small scale chart, because making scale larger resulted in the loss of any useful landmarks. Tech support said to me "what do you expect with a handheld and limited memory?" Over a decade later? The 76c is not a replacement for the 78sc, which is a handheld marine chart. The screen size is smaller than the older model. I would not recommend this device for use in the water.

👤Over the years, I've used a number of Garmin handhelds. I bought this unit to replace the failed one. The 78sc was expected to be a decent replacement. This is not the case. The hardware seems very good, but the software is terrible, especially compared to the oldGPSMAP 76. After I downloaded my old routes and waypoints, I tried to use the unit on my sailboat for a race around the cans. After loading up a route consisting of A, B, C, and A, the unit did not flip to the next waypoint, once a waypoint is reached. I couldn't find a way to flip it. It's difficult to explain, but you will find it annoying. TheGPSMAP 76 was superior in this area. There are two more You can't tell on the navigation page what your next point is. Unlike the 76, it is not displayed. There are 3 more The "active route" page doesn't give any information about the route's waypoints, just the names. Again, unlike the 76. The points are listed in order of distance, not alphabetical. It is hard to find what you are looking for if you have a lot of waypoints. There are five When you are on a sailboat in moderate seas, the speed andvelocity made a good jump. The 76 allowed you to take averages for a longer period of time. The option is not available on the 78sc. The unit is hard to read when the backlight is off. The battery life is poor with the backlight on. The user interface of the 78sc was dumbed down by Garmin. A disappointment. The 78sc is almost useless for me.

👤It's pretty good for the price, and I got it mostly for the bigger screen. I wish the screen was a bit brighter during the day. It's not that bad. It's accurate in the roads and also in its estimates of distance and time. I traveled to another state and back and it did not let me down except for the battery life. Make sure you have the charging plug in.

👤1. It was a used one, but I bought it as new. 2. The signal from the satellite could not be connected to the gps. 3. The programming is not easy. 4. I don't trust the company that sent me a product that was opened, used, and not working. The frame of the gps is adorned with the mane of the companies. 6. I return the piece of S- to where it belongs. I am happy with the device I bought. There are 8. Spend a few dollars more and buy a good product. There are 9. The company should not be allowed on the US market. 10. Be careful when buying from China.

👤The humor faded and the annoyance rose after 30 miles of weirdly consistent misdirection. My wife and I shut it down. Initially, I thought the bad directions were derived from local map anomalies and my tolerance for including routes with dirt roads was selected. That explanation proved to be inadequate. Want some examples? Ms. Cargad demanded we turn onto a dirt lane because we were 50 yards short of joining a rural highway. She demanded that we turn back and follow the turn imperative for the next 5 miles. Our destination was on the left side of the road. She told us to turn right on every dirt road for 8 miles until we got to our left turn driveway, at which time she told us our destination was still 1,000 feet ahead. On the return trip, we set an easy destination on the second highway, which we would turn left in 14 miles. The projected route was mapped correctly and accepted. The Cargad lady began ordering right turns after 9 miles. Our patience ran out. I was really hoping for this. The removal of 43 US states to make room for reduced information on the remaining five made my initial experience with TomTom senility. The experience of my Garmin was a little better, but it was still consistent because I refused to upgrade it. The maps are a decade old. I was hoping for a cheap Chinese replacement and bells and whistles. I returned it several years ago for behavior similar to what I described in the CargadGPS, so I'll probably gamble again with the familiar bad domestic choices and hope for something better than the "refurbished" TomTom.

👤I got this for my son's birthday and he absolutely loves it. He was concerned about the power of it but happy about how well it works. He likes that it can have music on it as well. The touch screen makes things simpler. He absolutely loves this product.

👤The unit arrived on time. It was easy to set up. There are a lot of things to like about this. This unit is one of the few that can accommodate a car, RV and Truck. You can set it up for RV/truck and enter all the important information, including length, weight, and weight restricted bridges. It warned me that the bridge on my route II was well below my height restriction. It's very helpful when one encounters unforeseen detours. If you deviate from the units chosen route, it will quickly figure out that you chose a different route and it will calculate from that point. Unlike my car, that insists that you make a U turn and follow its stated route regardless of what you want. There is a Windows browser that will allow you to do internet searching on your phone. I haven't tested this. If you're interested, it plays music and videos. The only negatives I found are 1. Updating maps might be a problem for MacONLY users. I checked in with customer service to update my maps and received a nice response that made perfect sense and assured me that I had the latest maps. Customer service seems to work well. Well, but. I haven't tested it yet. The programing does not include a GO home button. It is possible to put your home into the Favorites, but in my case there was not enough room to enter the complete address, which makes it look incomplete. Adding a Proper GO HOME button would allow for a few more characters. This is a good deal when you compare it to units that cost more.

👤I bought this for my class. I like the features of the unit period. The map ware here is outdated and has been upgraded. Don't buy it because it's useless. Get a navigation device. Save yourself the stress. It has nice features. One site it directed me to was a free map upgrade site which turned out to be a major scam. Not happy.

👤I had to drive to Lakewood, CO for two weeks. The device arrived before the expected date. I was surprised by the features, updated maps, settings, on-road navigation, modifying routes, alternate directions, Facebook, cell phone connection, etc. Performance quality distinguishes performance in cutting through confusion and excel in tedious searches. The device was an important contributor to the success. I always try something new. A+.

👤The Ohrex gps was bought to replace the old one which could not be updated due to low memory. I was attracted to the large screen of the Ohrex model, and the reasonable price, and assumed that the electronics would be common between gps's these days... We followed the directions in the manual and went for a drive in our hometown after we received the Ohrex gps. The Ohrex was not as accurate as our old one. When traveling to large metropolitan freeway areas, we use our gps to help us negotiate large lanes of traffic that are full of other vehicles. During our initial test of the Ohrex, it missed our city hall address by 5 blocks and took us to the wrong side of the building due to one-way streets. We might have become lost if we had traveled in an unfamiliar city. I've never heard a voice say to take a "slight left turn" on the highway approach to a town. Left turn. What is a light left turn? When entering the town on a state highway, the Ohrex directed us off of that HW and routed us through a tight residential area. I didn't care for that at all. The clock wouldn't re-set to the correct local time even if I used a different time zone. I don't like to complain, but I wouldn't trust the gps to take me through an unfamiliar metro area. I just ordered a big name gps through Amazon, hoping it will be the same as the older one we can no longer use.

👤Get it, over the road trucker review. It is affordable and does everything the expensive gps does. I have owned this gps for about 2 months and it has not let me down. It tells you how fast you are going, how far from the next waypoint you are, and the time of arrival. Time zones are adjusted from Satelite. It is not worth paying $400 for a gps when you can buy a better one. It is good to know that if I do update it will be free. Just buy it! You can beat it for $70 bucks. 2 months owner!

👤I have been using the gps for two weeks. It was worth the money spent. I use it in my semi and it has taken me where I need to be. Great purchase.

👤I replaced my old gps with a big screen one and it works great! Offline maps help in a rural area but nothing compares to having a real gps device. I put the screen in the corner of the car because it doesn't interfere with driving and because it doesn't take up a lot of space in the window. There are so many options for navigation on the touchscreen that it is very sensitive. This size is better than the 5. Audio is clear and can focus on the road. It was a great GOS for the price and definitely recommend it.

👤This gps is not worth anything. The routes are so old that they are unreliable and trying to update the maps is a joke. The clock is not set to the correct time. The device turns itself off after 20 minutes of use. The cheap plastic sun visor is a joke, it doesn't fit together properly, and it snaps when you try to attack it with the gps. The money was wasted.

👤I had to use a magnifying glass to see the print and icons because the instructions for setup were poor. Adding to Favorite addresses was very confusing and I was only able to input two addresses with no names.

👤The product is inferior compared to the other products. Poor mapping doesn't allow high number addresses. I was impressed with the looks but not worth the money. I bought a new one after I sent my old one back.

👤I thought I should try it closer to home after purchasing this for a future trip. The cup wouldn't fit on my dashboard or the front window. I used an aftermarket holder. I was about halfway to my destination when it stopped. It won't turn back on after I messed with it. I should have given the money to charity.

👤I bought a gps for a trip to visit relatives. I'm not very tech savvy and it was hard to find alternative directions when I inputed my out-of-state address locations. My 35 year old tech savvy son had issues. If you have a map route to follow, the gps adjusts nicely to route changes along the way. Common sense tells you which way to go when you pull off the road for gas or a rest area, even though the gps only indicated the wrong direction in a couple of minor spots. I like the fact that it confirmed the road you were on, as the road signs were often not posted. It advises you of the correct speed limit. I plan to input the next address after I reach the destination, as it seems to pick up the town or route location on the gps just fine. The sun visor was too small. I would recommend this device.

9. Rand McNally TND750 Featuring Screen

Rand McNally TND750 Featuring Screen

The sixth-generation TND truck is called the TND 750. There is a new design inside and out.

Brand: Rand Mcnally

👤The gps is garbage. I'm returning it and going back to where I came from. The screen is so small that you can't see the icons or mileage in a glance. It can't say "speed warning", but it can say "peeed warning" and "beep warning". The route is terrible. It wants to make you do a U turn and go back, even though avoid U turns is activated. The 2.0 format is a big swing and miss.

👤After my 740 stopped holding a charge, I purchased the TND 750 on Amazon. I use the gps for two years and I like the motor carrier references on the screen. I rely on my gps and atlas to follow my routes. I assumed the 750 was the updated version and that the charging issues of the 740 had been solved by Rand McNally. No, no, no! The 750 lasted me for a day. It wouldn't charge at all, and I tried different cables and the plug provided in the package. It wouldn't work while plugged in, just kept flashing low battery and shutting off. I had to pay $425.00 for a 740 at the truck stop. I will be returning the junk to Amazon for a refund. Amazon's return policy is very easy to use. Stay away from the 750. JUNK!

👤I am running my 740 next to Gps so I can follow the trails that I have saved because I could not transfer my trail and address book because the 740 says the files are corrupted. My last two 740s were great, but only last 15 months before they stop working. The paper road atlas is a waste of money, and it should be returned to the TND730.

👤I wish I'd checked the reviews before buying it. I had a great little unit, the TND520, for 7 years before it started to get beat up. I thought it was time to retire. I said it was a piece of shit, so let's get the all new bigger model. The battery won't hold a charge, can barely hear the volume when it's talking. The first one I got was replaced by Amazon, but the second one had the same problems. I will not be buying R MCN again.

👤The hardware is still better than the previous model, but I don't trust it more. Routes on alternates are less than satisfactory. I have not run into any problems like others have. It is supposed to be an updated version of the 740. The magnet is a lot better than they said. I don't see it falling even if I hit it. I have been doing this differently and not leaving plugged in the entire time. I had to plug it back in after 7 hours. I still have my car. It is at the end of its life with the battery. I want to test the new one before I start running them. The 750 is more accurate than the 740. Since I don't want to use it's delay feature, I have had to adjust mentally with travels time a bit more. The navigation screen is the same. Unless I want to check for an update, I don't keep it connected to the internet. I have no idea about those features.

10. Garmin ETrex Rugged Handheld Navigator

Garmin ETrex Rugged Handheld Navigator

The handheld gps is reliable. The display has a sunlight-readable color and display size of 220 x 220. There are roads and trails for hiking and cycling in the Topo Active maps. Tracking in more challenging environments is possible with the support of gps and GLONASS satellite systems. There is 8 gigabytes of internal memory for map downloads. Up to 25 hours in the gps mode with 2 AA batteries.

Brand: Garmin

👤A lot of the negative reviewers didn't understand what they were buying when they ordered this. This isn't a replacement for your maps and it isn't intended to be. Some of the negatives are positive features. It was large. It's large, but it will take a lot more beating than a small smart phone. The shape makes it easier to hold in the hand. 2. There is no touchscreen. Have you ever tried to use your phone in the rain? Touchscreens are great in warm climates. It is designed for use in dirty environments. 3. The user interface is outdated. This sort of phone is similar to a 2008 cell phone. The layout is easy to set up and contributes to the battery life. 4. AA batteries. The eTrex doesn't have a rechargeable battery like every other electronic device. It's difficult to understand why they think this would be a good idea. If you're out on a long hike/camping/hunting trip for several days, it's unlikely that you'll have access to a charging port, which makes it easier to just pop in two new batteries when the old ones run out. 5. There is a memory capacity. The maps take up the entire integrated memory. You can buy a 32gb card for $6 and download as many maps as you want. There are lots of videos on how to do this. 6. There is no map detail. I haven't encountered any flaws with the maps, so unless you're trekking through Gates of the Arctic, you'll probably be covered on any state or local trails. 7. Inaccuracy of location. The registered location is close to where I'm actually standing. My cell phone is usually off by 50 to 100 feet. It's not the point of exactitude, it's to help you find your way back to your camp, etc. Being off by a few yards isn't a big deal if you're within sightline. There are 8. There are noroutable maps. It operates differently than your phone's map app. You type in the address and it takes you there. It's not clear why people think it won't. There are 9. The features and interface are confusing. I can't believe this one. There are lots of videos and articles on how to use features. I download AllTrails Pro trails into Basecamp and then export them onto the eTrex when I'm ready to go. I follow the trail on the device. There are two more When I go on a non-prepared trip, I use the eTrex to record my track and save it on the device, then I plug it into my computer and send it to Basecamp. Done. If you're outdoors a lot, you're willing to dedicate minimal time to understanding how to use it, and you understand that this sub-$200 gps that will last you for a decade is not intended to replace your $800+ cellphone.

👤The company is abysmal. The product they have created is straight out of the era of the Blackberry. They offer nothing in the handheld market that is close to a modern device. This piece of hardware and software is not good. I will return it. I didn't return the inferior Garmin that I have in my car, and it burns me up. Never again! The screen is tiny, and I have encountered other issues in my brief period of ownership. I need to hike in the desert. The screen is useless. My phone works in the same way with no glasses. - The best tech minds don't work for Garmin. - The screen gets bumped in your pocket and you lose battery life. You can't search for a location by state, it returns zero results. The method to change the order of items in the Main menu is different from the Route Planning menu. - The deleted tracks menu contains all the settings. What? There are no maps. The data is solid, so I give this 2 stars instead of 1 Since my return of this device, I have been using a solution. I wanted a dedicated device just for mapping, I hike extensively off trail. I bought a burner phone at a box store and it works without being activated. I disabled all the apps that I could. I bought and downloaded Gaia for mapping and route finding. You can download maps before you leave. You can get phone service if you don't have to download maps, but it will cost more. I made the device bulletproof by adding a protective case with a backpack clip and an external battery pack. The setup has been great. Gaia is awesome. There are maps on the screen. The hardware and software are easy to use. The accuracy is very good. I have access to a lot of maps. Finally, it's a cheaper option. It's shocking that the company that does this can't do it.

Brand: Navruf

👤It is large and easy to use, as you can see from the photos, it is around the size of my hand. More like a computer than a navigation device. Everything you can think of. There are games, radios, pictures, videos, and Sat Nav. I am very impressed by the price. The screen display is clear and never gets any trouble from the sun, even though the video might not do it justice. The gps navigation is very fast at loading.

👤Over the years, I've owned a lot of gps units. This is the best unit I have ever owned. The voice command feature can change the game. When you cross the centerline, the driver assist features alert you. This unit is great.

👤This project is disappointing to me. It's not learning routes very well. The most confusing way to get to my destinations is the most direct route. The large screen makes it easy to see on this product.

👤There was no paperwork in the package that I received the gps. I wanted to return the product but didn't have an address. Contacted Amazon, but they were unresponsive. What can I do?

👤Most cars will have a difficult time with this unit unless it is somewhere other than the windshield. Even though car is in the title, I think this unit is designed for larger vehicles. You may be looking for one for an RV as well. The unit is accurate and packed with features. Go through the settings before you go on your first trip to make sure you get the best use for your situation. This unit is a steal for drivers of trucks or RV's. I've used it in my car as a passenger side mount, like a police officer would have their computer. I drove by the voice commands. This can be in a better location if you are in a semi or RV. The speed limit alert is very accurate. It has games and media player capabilities for down time. The unit is a great price.

👤This gps is very good. I like it. The only problem I had was that the sticky didn't stick. Constantly falling. Didn't have any kind of glue. I usually don't put it on a window, but this time I had to. I had to glue the stand to the dashboard.

👤I thought I was buying a navigation device. I blame Amazon for this since I searched for it. My comparison is with my other unit. It takes forever to find the address and start directions for this brand. I can't read the street names because the screen size is too small. I don't like having to enter the city and then the street. If I prefer nuimer than street, I can travel from the correct city. I should have bought a device from the factory outlet. I kept this one because my daughter thought it was acceptable. The unit is cheaper at the store.

👤The display is clear and easy to use. The navigation is difficult. I entered searches for places like the Grand Tetons, but they were not found. It has to be returned because it doesn't support Map updates from the MAC. There isn't a detailed manual to find online, and the limited instructions it comes with indicates to work your support questions through Amazon. I need something that is easier to use and supports me.
