The RuggedGPS watch is built to endure the toughest environments. It was manufactured to US Military Standard 810 G for thermal, shock and water resistance. Multiple satellite global navigation systems help keep track of more difficult environments than justGPS. Train with activity profiles and monitor your heart rate. Stay connected with smart notifications and automatic data uploads to the online fitness community.
👤One of the buttons on my watch stopped working after less than a year. The button on the bottom left that I use everyday will no longer depress. I don't use this watch as much as an average person, I'm not running marathons with it. There is a I live at sea level and the altimeter doesn't work correctly. The way the barometer reacts with the pressure at sea level can't be accurately read. I got this because of it. There is a altimeter feature. I was ok to let that one go. I have not prompted it to do so, but I find it bringing itself to power save mode often. There is a Although I am not a marathon runner, I still spent the money on this watch because of its notification features, altimeter and durability. It does not push text notifications from my phone. It handles third party notifications without a problem. I can not see a preview of a regular text message. It tells the time, heart rate, steps, moon cycle, and the date with relative accuracy. You need to have the garmin app connected to your computer so you can get weather or music control. The stair counter is the same as the altimeter. I will randomly get my 10 stair goal notification after not climbing a single staircase in a day. There is a chance that one of the buttons will stop working and that you may not be able to use it how it is advertised. It looks rugged but I can't return it because the buttons can't live up to the name and I have a broken $150 watch in my drawer. Get a G-shock, it will tell the time and last for years with no issues.
👤If you don't like smart watches, you will love this watch, it's my favorite watch ever, and the battery lasts about a week without charge.
👤I've owned a number of vehicles, including the Instinct. The price of the Fenix 5 or 6 series was not something I could commit to. They did not offer enough features to upgrade my watch. Most of the features I would never use were there. I am a hiker who loves being in the woods. The Instinct was the perfect upgrade because of the Explore app. I can use the Explore app on my phone to view a detailed topographic map, even though the Instinct does not have maps. Send a waypoint to my watch. The Instinct is so light it's almost 888-270-6611 It's much easier to wear all day. It's on you. The button is not pressed accidentally. I put my pack on with the Fenix 3 and it accidentally got the gps button. Either stop my current activity or start one when it isn't wanted.
Features a button-operated, dog-focused design for quick and easy adjustments, and a 3.5” touch screen. Set up and monitor up to 20 dogs with additional dog devices sold separately from up to 9 miles away, and use multiple global navigation satellite systems (GPS and Galileo) with a 2.5 second update rate. You can keep inactive dogs in the system for easier setup. There is a built-in 3-axis compass and barometric altimeter in the device. The battery can last up to 20 hours. There are 18 levels of correction. Transfer location data between compatible devices so you can keep your Alpha devices.
The dog tracker and navigator have improved internet connections. Pairs with a gps dog system to navigate and track your dogs. 6.0 W x 3.5 H inch (15.2 x 8.9 cm); 62.95 inch diag (17.7 cm) are the display sizes. You can get a 1-year Birdseye satellite imagery subscription with the purchase of a hunt view map. There are detailed road maps of North America. Updating maps and software can be done with wi-fi. Two devices must be in 250 feet of each other to use the wireless technology.
👤The alpha 100 and tracking collar work for me. You can use the trackers while charging if they run out of power. They go into a power saver mode if the power is low. I can see exactly where my dogs are with this display and the tracker plugged in after a restart. The screen is important for that purpose. The resolution is fantastic and it is big and bright. The screen of the gps is the best. I can't say it is all that good, but I would like to use it to an auto gps. There is no other option. punching in an address. Store addresses in advance or use the voice commands which work well. It can take a long time to find an address. Final thoughts. I use an external ham 146 mhz antenna which is slightly below the working frequencies of the dog trackers, and I use an SMA to BNC adapter. This screen and an external antenna are being used by the alpha tracker. I have a system to chase after the two dogs I have. At some point I will no longer need to use the trainer to train them.
👤Western state big game and bird hunting can be used. You can only view 2d topo when you have an onyx maps chip in the unit. They sell another subscription. I currently use onyx and Garmin in reach. Maybe it is a user error. I can't get a good track line on the device. The only fix is to run your dog collar in the sxs and have your handheld go the whole time. If it would track my route the whole ride it would work well. It would be an amazing unit if I could back track easier. The track line is a thin red dash that gets lost easily on the screen. If I figure it out, I will change to 5 stars. I was hoping that this would be a lot of fun. You have to treat it like a map. Most of the marked trails and property lines can be found with the onyx chip.
👤If you sit in your truck all day, this is a good dog tracker. There are a lot of features that are useless to me. It's difficult to set up and you can't put "way-points" on your map. It's not a good idea to use a gps device for traveling. If you put in a destination, it shows a line in the direction of your destination, but it doesn't give you a road map or verbal directions.
👤Connection is loosened randomly and often. garmin's product was expected to be better. I kept the gps. Wouldn't buy again.
👤I use it to keep an eye on the dogs. It works well.
👤The husband loved it. The garmin Astro 100 and tt15 collars are a perfect companion.
👤200 miles from no where, screen turned so dim you couldn't see anything, unplugged it, screen turned bright for 2 seconds, then back to dim. There was no difference between left and right charging. My last navigation device! I'm going to use an iPad instead of a tablet.
Two lengths of insulated contact points are included for reliable performance in wet conditions and extended comfort for any coat length. BarkLimiter is built-in with advanced Bark Correction Technology. 0.75 inch is compatible with the collar. The range is 1 mile with 27MHz radio frequencies for PRO 70 and PRO 550. There is a dog device, a red collar strap, a charging clip, and a contact point set. 60 hours is the battery life.
👤I decided to spend the money on a nicer bark collar after trying many cheap ones. It could be used with the remote or BarkLimiter mode. An automatic bark/shock collar. The product seemed to shock a few people on Amazon, but I bought it anyway. I observed a few times that other people didn't get the impression that BarkLimiter worked. I was walking my two dogs and one of them grewled as we passed another person walking a dog. No barking at all. It took me 15-20 seconds to get the collar off of her as she received multiple shocks in a matter of minutes, and she started to cry in pain. The other dog started getting shocks after the first dog, and also started getting shocks multiple times. The feedback loop was created by the pain and it kept shocking them. I don't know how long this would have lasted if I hadn't taken off their collars. The dogs were shocked 12 and 11 times when I saw on the counter that I had just turned on the collar. I will probably return to Amazon since I'm still in my 30-day return window, but there is no way I am putting these back on my dogs in BarkLimiter mode. This is an extremely well made product, so it's a shame. I read the manual and had the units in place. These work well in remote mode, but something needs to be worked on for BarkLimiter mode.
👤I like the features of this collar. The "headlight" is a great feature. It's great to be able to remotely turn on the light at night. It is easier to tell that the collar is on and working with audible sound. You had to put your ear next to the collar to hear it, even though the dog could hear it. The collar is cheap and not as robust as the previous version. The old remote would last for a long time on a 9-volt battery, even though I like the fact that the remote is able to be charged. The remote and unit are cheap and light. The previous version of the collar would last anywhere between 4 to 7 days with continuous use, but the new version only lasts a day or two. The previous version came with a re-charging cradle, while the new one is just a wire with a plug. The garbage collar material is the worst part of the whole deal. The previous version had a very solid plastic or rubber collar, but the new one is junk. It looks like cardboard that is encased in plastic. The end of the collar is getting more and more damaged and will need to be replaced quickly. I am not a photographer. After only 6 months of use, you can see that it is getting worse. When we retired the older Tri-Tronics collar material, it was still in perfect condition. Overall- The original Tri-Tronics version of the headlight feature is better than the new one. I hope this is helpful.
Alpha 100 has a 3-Inch glove-friendly color touchscreen. Track and train a combination of twenty dog devices from up to 9 miles away. The map includes terrain, topo elevations, summits, parks, coastlines, rivers, lakes and more. There is optional map data that supports it. A built-in barometric altimeter and electronic compass.
👤I use this for hiking. It gives me a good idea of what's going on. There are lots of places to take your dog hiking off leash in Seattle. My dog and I enjoy the freedom of hiking. My dog likes to hunt for rodents in the forest while we hike. She gets more exercise and stimulation if she is on a leash. She is in great shape because of it. She knows where I am when we hike and rarely goes off more than a few hundred feet. If she sees a deer, she goes for up to 5 minutes. After the chase, she was able to find me until she got lost. She ran after a deer and I kept hiking, thinking that she would find me as usual. She headed in the wrong direction because she couldn't find me. I was worried that I would never see her again after searching for her for an hour. It's a really bad feeling. I found her waiting next to my car at the trailhead, 2 miles from where we separated. I decided to invest in the Alpha after that traumatic experience. It has been great. Even though she is not always in my line of site, I can still keep track of my dog. If I can't hear or see her, I no longer have anxiety. She is not called out to make sure she is by. She keeps track of where I'm located by not calling out to her. She could hear me from further away if I called out to her. She has not gotten lost since I started using the Alpha nine months ago. I don't hike without it. I gave it 4 stars because it takes a while to lock on to a signal when you first turn it on. The screen should be a bit larger and the hand held part is bulky. The technology seems to be a bit old fashioned. The handheld and collar are waterproof. I'm not sure what the range is. I tested it in my neighborhood and it tracked up to 2 miles. The 9 mile estimate is only possible in ideal conditions where there are no trees, buildings or hills between you and the dog.
👤The older Astro that I owned for 3 seasons broke, but I still own it. The Alpha was bought a few months ago by me. I use it for upland game hunting. The measurement of elevation gained for my own hiking was incorrect, overstating the amount of climb that I hiked on a typical day. The system worked well, tracked the dog well, and the shock function was adequate, but occasionally my pointer would ignore it even at the highest setting. The locator sound on the Dogtra collar is what makes me use both collars. The dog on point feature stopped giving me an alert when the dog first went on point, but then stopped showing the dog's position even if it was on point. It created a lot of confusion because I didn't know if my dog was on point or not. The GO TO wouldn't lead me back to my truck after the malfunction. I was stuck in a zoom out mode that made it impossible for me to zoom in to see myself and my truck on the map. I couldn't navigate to my truck. I found my way back using landmarks and memory. After 3 months of use, I decided to return it to Amazon. This was outside of the 2 month return policy, but Amazon honored the return. I liked the unit so much that I wanted to buy a new one. I will update after I use it.
The RuggedGPS watch is built to endure the toughest environments. The standard for thermal, shock and water resistance is U.S. Military standard 810G. Multiple global navigation satellite systems (GPS, Glonass and Galileo) support helps track in more challenging environments. Train with activity profiles and monitor your heart rate. Silicone is the material of the strap. Automatic data uploads to the online fitness community and smart notifications with a compatible phone are some of the things you can do to stay connected. Use the trackback feature to navigate the same route back to your starting point, and use the explore website and app to plan your trips in advance. Up to 14 days in the watch mode, up to 16 hours in the gps mode, and up to 40 hours in the Ultratrac battery saver mode.
👤I have been on a frustrating activity tracker and smart watch journey. I was looking for something that didn't seem right. I like to hunt, hike, bike, and occasionally run. An accurate altimeter, barometer, andGPS are things that are very important to me. The first thing I bought was the Fenix 3 HR. I thought I had found the one that was impressive in the beginning. The issue was the altimeter. It wasn't accurate. I waited for the Fenix 5. Same issue. It was worse than the 3. I was told to put the watch in warm soapy water. I continued to experience the same issue even after this seemed to reset it back to normal. I decided not to put my watch in a warm glass of soapy water every night. The 5 plus appeared to solve the issues. But then, garmin made a change to the Instinct. This watch has caught my eye so far. It is light and comfortable. The Fenix watches are large and heavy to wear. You forget you are wearing a watch. The features are great. It has everything I need. I don't care about some of the measurements the Fenix gives you. Some people have commented on the display. I don't agree. It would be similar to E Ink from a book. It is a pleasure to look at and readable. It is black and white. The keys are easy to use. The menus are very fast. You can use the settings to get where you want. The buttons are very good and I have not accidentally pressed one while bending my wrist. The accuracy of the ABC sensors is still being tested but so far it is looking great. I can not say enough about this watch. It seems like a great model from Garmin that will fit in with the niche hunting/outdoors market. I will give an update in a month. I have had this watch for a few weeks and have taken it on several hunting trips. I am very impressed with this watch. This watch is light and comfortable. I think I forgot how nice it is to wear a watch that you forget is attached to your wrist, because I have been wearing heavier watches over the years. I didn't like wearing my watches to bed. I would get into my wrist because it was too bulky. Tracking seems to be accurate. When you are tracking an activity, the attitude has been accurate. What I like about this watch is it is comfortable. It is lightweight and responsive. Menus and screen. The buttons arecessed to avoid Accidental Presses. I only have a few complaints and suggestions to improve the watch. When you lock the keys, you can hold any button for a short time in order tounlock the watch. The amount of time it takes to hold the button is too long. It takes about half a second for it to be unlocked currently. This is a small complaint. The screen is a proprietary material. I would like it to be a display made of sapphires. You can't tell if there is a screen protector on the face because I put one on it. The battery indicator should show a percentage as opposed to the 5 bars in a battery indicator. It would be nice if they changed that. Please ask me questions. I would be happy to answer. Over the years, I've done a lot of research on these watches and believe I have finally found the perfect watch for my needs. I've used all of the watches. This is my favorite watch. An absolutely great watch is still available. Every single day, this watch is on my wrist. It is still very comfortable. I have had a couple issues that I will address. It is a button on the watch. The watch was still under warranty. The watch was replaced quickly. They received an A+ for their customer service. I would be SOL if it had gone out after the warranty period. I think it is a one year warranty. I use this watch a lot. It is always worn. It has held up very well. I still think it is an amazing watch for the price. The lock feature on the watch is one of the issues I stated in the review. You can lock the screen. It is very easy to get it unlocked by bending your wrist and hitting a button. This could be a simple fix. The amount of time required to press a button is not a problem. It doesn't happen very often. It can be very frustrating if it does during an activity. This will be my last update. I will buy another watch whenever this one dies because it has been an amazing watch for me. I hope the watch continues to be improved. All the boxes are checked for my needs.
Two lengths of insulated contact points are included for reliable performance in wet conditions and extended comfort for any coat length. BarkLimiter has advanced Bark Correction Technology. The range is 1 mile with 27MHz radio frequencies for PRO 70 and PRO 550. Includes a dog device, a blue collar strap, an AC adapter, and a contact point set. 60 hours battery life. 0.75 inch is compatible with the collar.
👤I wish I'd bought these collars right off the bat, instead of spending 2x the money on cheap poorly made collars for years before I switched to Garmin. Two 60lb dogs that wrestle, swim, sprint, and chase balls until you can't throw anymore have been using this collar. The Anti-Bark auto-rise feature on the newer models of the Garmin collars allow for simultaneous use of the feature with the normal beep-vibrate-shock correction feature. This collar is either one mode or the other. If you have a coonhound like we do that barks the songs of his people for everyone that walks by the front door, then this collar will be fine for you and your dog.
👤I was going to give it a 1. The sales rep was very nice. This add is not accurate. They don't tell you. You have to pay another $600 for the charger. The collar costs $160 and the $600 you need for the charger is covered by that. I wanted to give a 1 again. The sales rep was very nice. I wouldn't buy. The ad doesn't say you have to pay more. If you buy a car, you should get 4 tires. I would assume you would buy milk if you bought cereals.
👤My dog was wild before we got this collar. We were going to give him up. He was the worst behaved dog. Stealing the entire roast from the counter, digging up the yard, and eating the bark off the trees. This was even with daily walks and sled/bike runs. Ben is a yellow lab. Ben isn't the world's most well behaved dog. But he is not far away from where he was. He is well trained now. This collar isn't a cure for bad behavior. It takes time and patience. This training unit has many features. The collar has bright lights on it. Will illuminate your path. We live in the Northwest Territories in Northern Canada and have a good night's sleep in the winter. The add on collar was a nice feature. After a few months of training, we now rarely use the shock on our dog. Pressing the green button on the remote will stop the negative behavior. I am not a trainer. I've watched videos and read books. Do you know if this is a good training method for your dog? If you are a dog trainer, you will love this collar. We want our dog to be a hunting dog. The unit has worked well for us. The pro 550 is a good choice.
👤For years, we have used this particular collar on our two Boykin Spaniels. There are many great features. The light that we can turn on is something we love. After they go 20 feet out at night, you can't see them. I don't need to worry about them wandering our large property because I can always see them. We have never used it because our dogs stay close, but we love that it has gps capabilities. They are very durable and can be used for duck hunting in swamps and pheasant hunting in the field. The battery is something we don't like. We have to replace these every couple of years. We can send commands to both dogs because they are so incredible.
A compact design with multi-GNSS tracking and training. Up to 20 dogs can be tracked with the T 5 and T 15 dog devices, and additional dog devices can be purchased separately up to 9 miles. Each dog will be trained with 18 levels of stimulation and tone. To view your dog's location from a vehicle, connect to a drive track gps navigator. It's compatible with select Garmin watches.
👤The little unit was great. I use to hunt and hike with my dogs. You and your dogs are tracked through the app. You can see where you are on the map.
👤It takes a little getting used toggling back and forth.
Track up to 20 dogs with the 2.6” color display and T 9 dog devices for a range of up to 5 miles. When dogs are on the run, the update rate provides a faster location tracking. The ability to track in more challenging environments with high-sensitivity gps and satellite reception. There is a free 1-year Birdseye Satellite Imagery subscription for better location awareness. Dog data from Hunt Metrics can be used to review and train more effectively.
👤I researched all the collars before choosing this one. Blocks of land are about 2 miles away from where I live. There are no roads leading into the blocks of pine plantations, hardwood forest and cutover land. During hunting season, I wanted to keep my dogs at home. Redbone coonhounds are hard to keep up with because they are a natural hunter. The first day, the three collars paid off. The dogs came out on the road after a 1.5 mile chase. I could see on the unit where they were, how fast they were closing the distance and waiting in the road when the deer came out behind them. If I had not caught them, they would have been 2 miles away. I can't tell you the range they work in but they worked well in the brush. The phone reception in this area is pretty bad, but the gps product does not depend on it. It will take me awhile to figure it out but the unit does what I need it to do. Tell me where the dogs are. Setting up a border lets you know when a dog is leaving so you can stop them before they get far away. The unit and collar are well made and worth the money.
👤It was very easy to use and I was happy that I did not have to learn how to use it. I don't hunt, but I have a dog that loves to wander far in the woods and this makes me feel better if we're hiking away from our home.
👤It works well for keeping track of our dog.
👤The Astro 900 is malfunctioning. The unit will not start.
👤This is a great product that I use to keep track of my husky when I am at work. He is tracked by a few feet with a ten mile range. I have to charge the coller every night because of how I am using it. I am really happy with the product.
👤Amigos equipos. Un nueva forma de la cacera.
The long/SHORT contact points include long and short changeable/replaceable contact points. There are fertility levels. There are 18 levels of momentary and continuous stimulation. The 1/2 mile range gives you the ability to correct your dog's behavior in the field. Training configurations include Train 1, 2 or 3 dogs, settable on the handheld and additional dog devices. DURABILITY. The dog device has a water rating of IPX 71. Yes, IPX7.
👤Not impressed. I bought this system in June of last year. I found out last week that it will only transmit 50 yards when I work the dog at greater distances. The varification was caused by having my wife operate the handheld while I paced off distance until we lost the signal, this was on the road straight line of sight and no obstacles. Tone, vibrate, continous or momentary are the only modes that have any function. I tried their chat support line and was unsuccessful, so I requested an RMA to return for the warranty. The charging sockets on my first Delta collar fell out after 2 years. I think I will look into Dogtra.
👤I was expecting much more for a $300+ training collar. Both of my dogs are heavy and ignored the training collar at the highest level. For the time being, we switched back to our cheapo collar. It feels better in the hand than many others I've tried, and it's great. I tried to get in touch with Garmin to see if they could help. The first time I called, I was hung up on by the representative, who never called back. When I called the support line again, the wait was even longer, so I gave up. Don't bother with this if you have big dogs. There are other brands that are worth trying for less.
👤A golden retriever was being bullied for being 9 months old. Over the last 3 months, this product has helped us greatly. The idea of a shock collar was not something we were enamored with. He is much more responsive to commands now that he knows his place in the family. It's a rare setting where we need anything beyond our own voice and vibration. He's about 75 lbs when we shock, and it's usually on a very low setting. There have been no issues with this collar. It plays biting battles with the neighbor's dogs in mud and snow. It's reliable, easy to use, and has plenty of battery life.
👤It's a waste of money. Junk, junk, junk. The battery life of the item was too late to return, so I am upset. It worked for my rescue who is on a leash. So, bought another. I didn't hold charge, return and get another to think it was faulty. Nope! The battery in the warehouse is dead, so they might have been sitting there for a long time. Never again! I said 100. There is a dollar piece of junk.
👤A 1.5 year old dog mix has a great personality, but is very energetic and strong. He is a hunter. He wanted to decide when an off-leash walk should end and how far he could go, which was too far away from us. I can't compare this unit to others, as I have never used an e-collar before, but we are thrilled and I have owned dogs for over 20 years. After a week of training using static electricity stimulation, we now rarely have to press buttons, and when we do, it's just the tone. He now responds to voice commands. When we did the initial testing, our dog did not respond to the stimulation until level 12 and we never went higher than 14 during the training. I put the collar on our dog after trying it on myself. We didn't find the need for the more expensive units to offer the more advanced steps. It seems like the battery life is good. We need to replenish the collar unit every few days. The control unit holds a charge for a longer time after the initial training week.
The range is 1 mile and the radio frequencies for PRO 550 are 27MHz. The built-in BarkLimiter has 21 levels of stimulation and can be used to control the levels on the handheld. The vibrating pro adds a vibration control option for training. The accessory for the Upland Beeper is called the UPLAND BEEPER PRO 550. The PRO 550 handheld, dog device, black collar strap, AC adapter, charging clip, contact point set, and manual are included. The design is classic and rugged. Train with stimulation and tone.
👤Very pleased with the results. I have 2 Dogo Argentinos, one male and one female. They play hard. Rolling around in a rocky desert environment that has destroyed several collar attachment. I like the idea of a training collar that is durable and functional. I need vibrate mode to recall the female. The male is very strong willed and responds well to light stimulation occasionally. It depends on the distraction. The tone is used for praise along with petting and verbal praise. It seems to reinforce what you are doing. I had a less expensive training collar that took forever to replenish. It seems that the charge of the Garmin will last forever. Even when the lights are on! It is very quick to charge them. Never more than 2 hours. It takes a little getting used to finding the right button or switch. The stimulation level is hard to see in low light. The click method was used to choose the correct setting. Count the clicks clockwise to select the stim level. It would be great to have a preset for each dog. When both dogs are on the run, going from one to the other can be difficult. I don't use them for hunting because we have a lot of wildlife around that they like to chase. I ordered a second one that looked the same as the first one. It doesn't matter how well it stays on. If you put them on correctly. They work well. I am very satisfied with this product. Many people think that the collar your dog is wearing is cruel. I want my dogs to experience a life as free as I can make it for them, and I love them so much that I want them to run, play and experience a life as free as possible. It's important to use the product correctly.
👤I have set my mind not to use the shock feature unless I absolutely had to. I give a sound and then vibrate. These features alone can help us train our two pitbull/husky mix dogs. The "V" for vibrate is set by turning the intensity dial to zero. The dial reads v1234. If you have to turn the device up to give a shock, you must turn it back down. I would like to see the vibrate have its own button. I like the bark limiter but it's not something I need right now. I had to put the longer probes on for the dog with the shorter hair because it didn't make sense. After 4 or 5 weeks, everyone is very happy.
👤I have had this unit for 3 years and a third replacement battery. Sometimes the remote doesn't start working, but I get about a year before that. The light on top of the remote is red when this happens. A test with garmin shows a battery issue. My father's version of the same collar has been in his possession for 20 years. I was told by the person on the phone that there was a different battery used for the Garmin version. I have received conflicting instructions from the company. When the unit dies, some say to charge. The batteries always seem to fall out regardless of my charging technique. If you're looking for a long haul unit, go for a different one.
Gps dog tracker garmin products from Amazon Renewed. In this article about gps dog tracker garmin you can see why people choose the product. [brand2] and [brand3] are also good brands to look for when you are finding gps dog tracker garmin.
