Brand: Sportdog Brand

👤I bought this device because of the excellent customer service and easy replacement of the 9V battery. I was told that I would have to purchase a new battery for the extra collar because they stopped manufacturing it. I have a lot of devices with dead batteries in my closet. I bought the current model and would have preferred the 9v option. I ordered 2000 feet of 14 gauge wire because SportDog said it could be used. The edger I rented included a spool to feed the wire into the mini-trench. It took one day to bury the wire and another day to finish the places where the wire popped out of curves. As we pulled, we should have provided more slack. I don't think 20 g wire could have stood up to the tension, but maybe it was the way the machine was set up. The gel-filled capsule that I provided worked great. I used 14 g single strand dog wire. The cheap terminal connections were the most frustrating thing about the installation. They wouldn't hold the 14 g wire. The surge protector I bought had similar terminals. I understand space restrictions on the surge protector, but why not allow screw terminals on the transmitter? I used a strand of 16 g stranded speaker wire to connect to the surge protectors. I had to use clothespins to hold the wire and keep the tension on the springs. I have come to the conclusion that the whole device is made as cheaply as possible, and the manufacturer is making a lot of money. I will forgive the hefty price for good customer service. There is a The two manual that came with the product were very helpful. Five stars for documentation. I have 1500 feet of wire underground, solid connections and flags every ten feet. One dog is getting used to wearing a collar for the first time. We will start with lessons tomorrow. I am positive. The training remote and the containment will be updated in a few weeks. It is now a month later. The dog was wearing a collar for a while. The module was attached to the collar. We had to cut and re-sew the strap, but it was very easy to remove the strap and attach the module to the clip-on. The first day I activated the system, I set the collar at contain and train strength #2. A few minutes of training worked well. The dog failed to react when my daughter did a training session. I tightened the collar after I decided it was too loose. The learning by the dog was quick and effective. The flag was the same as the previous day. A dog is on a leash. I pulled her back when she pointed to the flag. We walked to another flag. Same process. Same reaction. She was more cautious. We walked another 100 feet. She pulled the leash out of my hand when she ran across the line. She ran right back to me after she heard the shock. I pointed to something. The dog has not come within five feet of the flags without the collar on. Training is complete! It is amazing. * For the training remote. The dog is a nine-month old rescued dog. We have been with her for two months. She was described as too much dog by previous owners. She wants to bite like a puppy. We had rescued a smaller dog that was only 8 weeks old before we got the nine-month old dog. A puppy. As she grows, she wants to play with her big, mouthy companion. The training remote has aided in teaching the bigger dog how to play. The older dog is playing with toys. I usually leave it in "V/T" mode. The dog associates the tone with the shock of the containment line, so all I need to do is "tone" her. She tests our patience and we vibrate the collar to get the results. I have spent many hours teaching her verbal commands and trying to use the training remote to supplement; however, no amount of verbal seems to keep the dogs from engaging in puppy biting and play. The older dog can't harm the younger dog if it has a training remote. Two people hold leashes and I remind the bigger dog to be gentle when necessary, as there is tremendous progress with both dogs. The flimsy construction of the terminals made my review four stars. I rate the training at Five Stars on the practical side. * The module is large and heavy. I would like it to be smaller. I would like to see a variation for smaller dogs. I have not used a collar on my puppy because she is only 7 pounds, but she wants to go hunting now that she is almost four months old. I try to make her respect the flags that are still up by keeping her on a leash. If there was a training collar for small dogs, she would be able to respect the boundary very quickly. * I am very happy with the purchase. I believe the Sport Dog contain + train unit has helped me with my difficult dog.

3. PetSafe Instant Fence Transmitter IF 100

PetSafe Instant Fence Transmitter IF 100

Add an additional half an Acre to your dog's Stay and Play Wireless Fence. Completely portable. The extra unit can expand your coverage. Up 1/2 acre (180 feet in diameter) is a circular area. It can be portable for vacations or other locations.

Brand: Petsafe

👤Just plugged in the unit and was happy to hear the warning. The dog is a golden retriever. He works with rabbits and cats. Our dog would wonder off when the under ground fence wouldn't work because of heavy snowfalls, but this perimeter fence works better than the one we had years ago.

👤I bought the 1/2 and 1/2 so my dog could have more yard. No need to go past setting 4. The flags should be left as long as possible. My 5 month old Rottweiler loves the freedom and recognizes the flags. No digging. For maximum footage, a couple of hours is set up.

👤Works well. The original Petsafe Instant Fence transmitter was a set with the collar and was replaced by this Petsafe Instant Fence transmitter. The original collar worked so we only needed the transmitter. It is what we needed.

👤This is the new unit that I bought. There were no issues with the existing collars. The generic boxing and lack of instructions were the only thing that worried me. The lack of instructions was not an issue since I already knew the product. Product looked brand new and works great.

👤The product came in on time. It works great with the fence and collar we had. It's perfect to have as a replacement.

👤This item doesn't work. It doesn't work at all. I will return.

👤Our dog is contained to the property.

4. PetSafe Wireless Containment System Receiver

PetSafe Wireless Containment System Receiver

The neck sizes are 6-28 inches. There are 5 levels of static correction. It is designed for dogs over 8 pounds. The collar is waterproof up to 5 feet. The Stay+Play Wireless Fence is compatible with the PetSafe Wireless Pet Containment System.

Brand: Petsafe

👤I have been using the petsafe wireless system for years without any issues. We had a new dog and I had to buy a collar. We were able to set it up despite the weak instructions, because we were able to find the parts we were looking for. I have a Dutch shepherd on this collar that is new to having an open space and we set it on a setting of 5 because she ran straight through the fence at anything below 4. This wasn't the problem, but a small annoyance to learn and try again. The real issue is that she has been shocked a few times before she hits her boundary, and our other dog can go out further with his collar. She is getting shocked when she is laying in our living room just feet away from the box. She doesn't trust her boundaries and sometimes she's scared to leave the porch because she has had false shocks so many times. I can't use the other collar on her because it's already cut in a way to fit our other dog that's been wearing it for years. We missed our window to come back by two days, so I will have to call the warranty number to get them to replace it. Our other collar has never had an issue.

👤Two dogs use these collars. We have had this system for a long time. People drive too fast on our street. Our jack russell used to get past us even if we tried hard. We didn't want him to get run over and we couldn't catch him when he escaped. I don't know if you're familiar with this breed, but they are fast. He got shocked twice on the first time he wore this collar. He ran past me the next day. He went back inside the house after his collar sounded. I would like these collars to come in different colors and widths. Our other dog is a pit bull and he has a collar on. Sometimes I would like to switch colors. I usually get a regular collar for the jack russell because they are a little wide. It would be easier if there were more options.

👤I have a containment system for my doggo, but he chewed up the collar that was in the house. I bought this one as a replacement and it didn't work. The light didn't turn on after I turned the battery on. I replaced the batteries but they still didn't work. I went outside to test the level of static after I clicked on the button to set it. Nothing! I returned it the next day. It was too expensive to not work. I was not going to leave it on my dog without knowing that it was working. I will buy it at the local store or manufacturer's website.

👤I bought 4 of them. All for small dogs. The collar is too heavy for a small dog. The dog is a chihuahua, terrier and rat terrier. The wireless monitor needs a smaller band and battery. It fits their neck sizes 6 and up, but it's too small for a small dog to wear.

5. PetSafe Rechargeable Waterproof Receiver Correction

PetSafe Rechargeable Waterproof Receiver Correction

It is possible to create a custom area for your pets to play in. Up to 1/3 of an Acre is up to be purchased with additional wires and flags. The waterproof receiver COLLAR can be charged in 2 hours or less with each charge lasting up to 2 months. YardMax Rechargeable In-Ground Fence Receiver Collar is not compatible with the system. The audible receiver collar is designed to fit pets with neck sizes 6 to 26 inches. The purchase of compatible PetSafe In-Ground receiver collars will add unrestricted pets. Surge protectors help protect your transmitter from lightning strikes. They are available Monday through Saturday to answer your questions at PetSafe.

Brand: Petsafe

👤Not happy with the collar. The PetSafe fence had to be replaced several times. The first product was easy to clean and didn't fall apart. The first collar had a louder tone for the dogs to hear. After only 8 months of use, one of the contact points on our boy's receiver collar fell out. We tightened it after putting it back in. The collar is the only thing left after he comes inside. The receiver is in the yard after the contact points came out. It's a warm 6 degrees and trapesing around the 3 acres out back is not fun. If we don't find the receiver, we will have to purchase another one for $120. The alternative is to purchase a brand fence which would cost $300 or more, and this is smart on the part of PetSafe. It isn't something that the manufacturer considered, so it's a good idea to keep the receiver attached to the collar. Maybe it was and that's how they sell more collars. The collar is still not ok. It has been in use for a year and the contact is broken. The portion that screws into the receive is severed from the portion that makes contact with the dog. I can't replace it with a new one because it's still in the receiver.

👤I bought the entire system and an additional collar. It worked well for the first couple weeks. My dogs were smarter than the sytem. The system is not functioning at all. I'm left with "call customer service and trouble shoot some more" after a number of emails with petsafe, doing everything they said to fix it, and my own test of running a new line. One of the collars became sensitive than the other and now neither collar works. I'm not getting upset. I can't use a system that costs big bucks. Would not suggest wasting money.

👤The collar holds a charge for about a week, which is acceptable, and it works just like it should for the price. The all weather 18 AWG wire is cheap and thin and could easily break from ground shift, so I bought a heavier duty wire. I buried my 18 AWG wire because I had no problems with it breaking. I have had to replace the main transmitter unit and two of the PetSafe collar because of the broken tips. I guarantee you will end up paying the same amount or more in the end if you go with a DogWatch system. PetSafe equipment is cheap in my opinion.

👤I got this to replace my dog's heavy SportDog electric fence collar, which I thought was too heavy for my cockapoo mix. This is better and lighter, and it has a blinking light that makes it easier to find in the dark. The online support and chat help that I got from Sport Dog was amazing. I learned that this model works with my electric fence and is a lot cheaper than the Sport Dog model, which wasn't even in stock.

Brand: Bhcey

👤Even though I can see some improvements that could be made, it works well for the price and I shared that with manufacturers. We live on almost 2 acres and I was able to get it to cover our property and the surrounding woods. I like to keep the collar loose and allow the dog to just hear and feel, as I think shock level 1 is too strong. The signal is affected by walls hills but the bottom line is it still works and creates a boundary. It takes a lot of walking and listening for beep to figure out what setting works for your property, but once you get it figured out it serves its purpose well! I think it's a good training collar, but there's room for improvement. It is definitely worth the cost compared to similar products.

👤It vibrates but doesn't shock. My dog keeps running until it gets out of range. Will return the item.

👤The wireless fence was not perfect. The collar would stop working. Even though he was standing next to the transmitter, my dog got shocked. Absolutely ridiculous that they would sell something that was so dangerous. Would not recommend.

👤This invisible fence and dog training collar is something I am very happy to have. I was attracted by the fact that it could be hung on the wall of our house or placed on the desk. The wireless system is using a better signal than the WIFI signal. When I hang the transmitter inside my house, the signal is still very strong and can penetrate through the walls, even though the seller told us that it is better to use an open area. It's very easy to set up, just test the range and put the collar on the dog. The Western Highland dog that we have is 2 years old and has learned to stay in her safety area instead of running outside on the road. The customer services advised me to loosen the collar to avoid my dog being shocked. She will run back when she hears the beeps. When my dog is playing outside, she seems to enjoy a new freedom and peace of mind. Our dog wears the collar all day long and we charge it once a week, it is good because it is a good size for different dogs. When the battery of the transmitter box is running out, the receiver collar will sound. It could be charged while using. The system has everything we could have hoped for and we love it. Plug in and press the button to change the size of the range, this product doesn't need installation, digging, or buried lines in the ground. If you register your product by email, it will be extended to two years. Highly recommended!

👤I tried to like this product because I needed it, my dogs chase vehicles and go into other peoples yards. I want them to stay here. It was nice to hear that it set up a wireless fence, but it was also a remote and you could change it back and forth. The wireless fence would allow me to leave them outside while I was not at home and they would stay in the yard. The first setting is supposed to be at least 30 feet and it wouldn't let them go past 5 feet without being yelled at. I tried to turn up the setting to see if I could make it a further distance. I tried to change the distance but they stayed the same spot. I would have to turn it off if they were walking next to me because I wanted my dog to be able to see me. I hated it because I had to hurry up and get it turned off before it started shocking them. I had the remote above the ground and followed all the directions. It would not be a good idea.

Brand: Dogtra

👤A 50 pound pit/Shepard/Heinz dog that was a rescue from the city loves to explore and run. We live in the woods and he has a lot of room to roam. He wanders to far at times and is a bother to his neighbors. We were afraid of installing an underground fence, but felt we had to do something else. We bought the supplies for the underground 1500' fence on Amazon after coming up with a plan. The late spring weather did not allow us to bury the fence kit. I was worried that it would not work out for us. A friend of mine told me that his friend had bought a dogtra collar and was very happy with it. I decided to send the underground stuff back to Amazon after a few hours of research. The path of the underground fence was going to cost more to install than the Dogtra collar. I had a good idea how to use the product after watching several videos on the internet. "Brock" was already familiar with wearing a training collar, but the cheaper collar only worked in a close proximity so when he got out of sight he knew it." He is a very stubborn dog and has no fear of anything. He knows when the collar is on when he gets a tiny bit of juice. We let him outside to test drive the new collar after we setup it. I set up the area around a year ago. The lines are close to the neighbors to the west and east and parallel to the road. We watched his live path as he traveled around and the maps on the internet are amazing. I got an alert on the phone and yelled at him to retreat when he got close to the fence. Brock knows what will come after the beep if he is still wrong. The neighbors to the east are ok with him playing with their dogs. We had to keep him home. He went out of the fence last night. I can see that and call him back. I gave him a mild tickle after he ignored the call, but he came back on a dead run. We work with him every day and the training gets better. The unit is a great alternative to underground fence. The long range is up to 9 miles. The unit will perform well within a couple miles of our woods, but I don't expect that. The app and collar work perfectly with no issues found as of yet and would recommend searching out videos on the internet to learn more.

👤If you're like me, you might be wondering if this collar could possibly be worth $400, and if it works for all that. I am here to tell you that it is worth it. Every time. A penny. I have a German Shorthair Pointer that I want to be able to find when I'm working, but I also want him to be able to wander my fields without being seen, and have the peace of mind that he wasn't going onto roads or other people's property The range works exactly as advertised, the battery life is great, and the shock delivery works from miles away. Everything works offline when I'm out of range of cell service. This collar has made it possible for me to be in my house and not worry about what my son is doing. It was just brilliant. I wish I'd gotten the collar sooner. There are a few notes. The dog statuses can be a little oversensitive, as I have found that 20%- 30% of the alerts for 'pointing' and 'treed' have been inaccurate while directly observing Jeager. I've learned to look for "clusters" of status alert to let me know if he's really located something. 2. This is a sophisticated set-up but as long as you skim the manual, it's pretty easy to use. Don't be a moron like me and throw the manual away because you don't like getting snowed with papers every time you buy something. 3. The "geo-fence" feature can't shock or play a tone when the dog leaves, but you can get an alert if the dog leaves. This has been perfect for me. If you want to teach your dog where the new boundaries are, take your dog for a walk around the perimeters of your fence. If he breaks the boundary, I keep my phone handy and send a push notification.

Brand: Ttpet

👤The wire was tiny. It seems to be working well so far. When our dogs run off when we aren't looking, we hear a lot of crying and low moans, and one of them tried to cross it. I don't think we will have any more problems after that. Customer service has been excellent. They offered a used kit to send us for free, so we could buy another one. We will be waiting for that. I'm pretty happy.

👤The setup was easy, but the testing was confusing because the system didn't detect the collar every time. The wire is very thin and snapped twice. I'm not very pleased that I put the collar on my dogs. The system was set at 30 then 10 and never worked again. At one point my dog sat on the wire. I will return the product if I get the same results with the new wire I already have.

👤We wanted an alternative for our old dog to be able to be in the front yard with us, but she tends to wander off. Since our deed restriction doesn't allow fences in front yards, this is a great way to do that. It was easy to set up after a rain storm. The charge stays for a long time and the shock does not hurt her. I like that it has two collars so we can always have one ready for her. She is in the yard with us as we relax.

👤Product worked well for me. I used a twisted wire to get my dogs to walk over it and a heavier wire to finish the last 100 ft. The supplied wire is thinner and cheaper than the ones I used. The fence is buried under 750 feet. At the side of my house and along the road, I created a loop in the shape of an L. The green light blinks when I turn the collars off. The red light blinks. It will be okay, but I saw it a little backwards.

👤So far, so good. It was very easy to setup. We have had it for a couple of weeks and it works great. The 95 lbs Labrabull won't go near the wood fence that he has been jumping on. He is breaking our fence. I love it!

👤It was very easy to install. I have been using for a week without any issues with my fence jumping pups. The wire has held up well for the price. I charge the collars after 3 days. When the dogs are let out periodically during the day, they are taken off when inside. I had a problem with the kit's adapter that was supposed to be used for both collars and the transmitter. After contacting the sellers, they offered a used kit to solve the problem and were quick to respond to messages. Customer service is the most helpful I've ever experienced. The used kit arrived today and is pictured. It has taken awhile, but it is definitely true.

Brand: Blingbling Petsfun

👤A Western Highland puppy is notorious for getting into trouble. A puppy that likes to run and is nearly impossible to catch is very problematic for a home where fencing is not allowed. We were at our wits end after several incidents of him escaping. I purchased this device in desperation and we couldn't be more pleased. When we put the collar on him, he is aware of his freedom and is happy to be outside. Our hope is that we can take the collar off and he will stay in the area. This device has been everything we could have hoped for and we love it. Plug in and use the dial to change the size of your circle, without digging or installing a real 888-353-1299 I warn you to be careful with your pet with the device on. I took our puppy into the garage and front yard and when my wife came home he jumped into her car to greet our girls. I think the metal and mass of the car blocked the device, and he got a little shock, even though he was within the permitted area. If you are patient, this device will work with any size dog and you and your pet will find new freedom and peace when your pet is running free.

👤Our lab is 16 months old and I bought this collar for him. She would run through the standard collar correction as soon as the kids played outside of the area set up for her and would "take the punishment" until the collar timed out. She would run away for an hour at a time and cause problems in the neighborhood. The collar has worked well. She has only been corrected a couple of times and she has yet to stand up to it. The Rechargeable option is better than the standard batteries.

👤My puppy was always going and trashing their flower bed. I was not sure about wireless containment systems as my pup is too young, and I couldn't lay down a fence. I saw this product in my friend's home and was so impressed with his dog that I ordered this the very next day. The strap could be adjusted to fit my small dog and the warning tone was enough to stop him from wandering far away.

👤If you don't want to mess with burying the wire, this is a great alternative. I trained my golden retriever in less than two weeks. Within an hour, I had this setup and operational, which included setting the desired range and placing the flags. Keep that in mind when you decide between a wired system and this. It was easy to take this along on a weekend trip and use it in a strange location for my puppy. I can't comment on the battery life yet, but if your dog does not test the boundary and the collar is not activated, the battery seems to last a lot longer. There is a Most people were very skeptical about this product. I am very happy with the decision to try it.

10. Educator PF 1000 BK Underground Containment Installed

Educator PF 1000 BK Underground Containment Installed

👤Customer service was good and responded to email quickly. After trying to program the collars 3 or 4 more times, they started working correctly. Other reviewers said that you can't hear the audible tone. I can hear the tone when I hold them in my hand and approach the fence. It's a loud sound. If they are working correctly, you should be able to hear the chirps. The programming issue has led to me being upgraded to 3 stars. We did the same programming process many times and it was obvious when they started working right that it wasn't responding correctly. Not very pleased with the product. We bought a second collar. The system has two problems. We returned the second collar because it didn't work correctly, and bought a new one. The replacement has the same problem. When it is close to the wire, it emits a loud chirp. It makes the same sound when you put it on the transmitter. The first collar does not make a sound. The second collar doesn't seem to be programmed. We put it on a small dog. The first collar was tested at this level and it was barely noticeable. My dog got a shock when she approached the fence. The shock level was very strong after we checked it. It gave a very strong shock when we set it to 0, which should be no shock. We know we are programming it correctly because it works with the first collar. The "tone" is not audible to humans. I don't know if it's emitting a tone or not, and I can't time my verbal reinforcement to coincide with it because I can't hear it.

👤The first fence system we put in was not well received by my young Springer. His body responded to the stimulation in a complete rush. It would cause him to fly through the yard jumping at us, biting us and everything in his path. He was too sensitive and we needed to find a better way to adjust him. We found that with the fence system. You can adjust the stimulation on a scale of 1 to 30 for your dog, containment field width, and size. It made a difference. We started him at level one and adjusted his level to six out of 30, which is perfect for him and his temperament.

👤When my Invi$ible Fence system died of old-age, I bought this system and collar. The cost is very good compared to the fence. You can install this system if you have half of a chestnut in your brain. I have 3 large breed/high drive dogs. There are Collars that can be programmed for stimulation level and other items. The dogs do not break through the fence, I had a collar issue and they said "sounds like a battery, we will send you a new one", other companies soak you on batteries.

👤My dog is happy because he knows his boundaries and has the freedom to roam. It's the best system I've found. It's easy to turn off the control box and take him over the line. The collar lasts over 4 weeks. While learning the boundaries, there are lots of adjustments to increase correction. It is easy to install. I highly recommend it. It's worth it.

👤The dogs will wear the collar consistently and sometimes they can walk over the wire and not be shocked. I don't trust the system as much as I should, and it's frustrating when we make sure the loop is on aND high, but on the other hand the line is close to our garage and the house. I will use it and test it to see if it works. It was bought in December of last year. I can't put my faith in the system when I know my dog's life is at risk living near major roads. It will never be sure if it will work.

👤Customer service made me tighten the collars even more. They had to care for the holes in their neck for weeks. I went to work on the area after buying some wooden stakes from Home Depot. I staked out the entire area I wanted to fence in. I put the wire around the stakes. I plugged the flags in and put the collar on. It worked for three months. My dog was always out of the yard. I bought new batteries after I ran out. Nope. Tightened the collar. Nope. Upped the strength. Nope. Everything looks good. There were no breaks in the wire. When I test it, the collar emits a sound. My dogs are no longer allowed in the yard. It stops working after three months. I am going to call customer service tomorrow to see if they can give me any advice, but I am sick and this happened during a holiday week.

👤I live on 3 acres in the Sierra foot hills and have had a fence for about 5 years. It recently gave me indigestion and has been fixed with a new transmitter. It really made financial sense to change systems with 3 collars investment. I have a take on the system and some hints. 1) Dogs are not the same. The huskies are persistent with their thigh prey response. Maybe the collars work 80%. Although costly, the gps collar has proven helpful. The Golden/Chow is fence compliant. The wire loop is a weak point for water penetration. Securing wire tightly to other fences can cause stress if less rigid structures are used. You can afford the heaviest wire. Shrink tubing can be used for solders, but mostly not. A wrap of tape holds up wire nuts. After 5 years, the Petsafe supplied caps begin to degrade. These were not reliable. Animals break the wires when buried or tied to fence wire. Settling earth can cause buried wire to be under a driveway. Allow some slack in the wire by placing it in a conduit. The 1/2” Irrigation tube protects the garden areas where you might be digging around. The collar unit is waterproof but has a heavier collar. The plastic snap is broken by dogs. It's hard to find the collar when it comes off. There are four The Model 300-1310 transmitter is my third replacement. The original was destroyed by a lightning strike. They didn't design in surge protection and fuses for this unit. Petsafe cost for a surge protection unit is ridiculous. The aftermarket has worked well. The second unit seems to have an electronic failure. A real pain to fix, even with an electronic tester, because you have to physically inspect thousands of feet of wire and splices with escaped dogs. Reliability and product robustness are only part of the story. Depending on your dogs, it works well. The start-up can be expensive and it can take a long time to fix it. Replacement batteries, lost collars and failed transmitters are maintenance costs. Some relief is offered by aftermarket suppliers. Petsafe could offer more help. Petsafe has always been quick to reply when I have contacted them for customer support. It's not so much replacing reasonably priced replacement parts. It is functional and no better alternative than I have found. It offers some measure of insurance, rather than having to think about replacing lost, stolen or fatally injured pets.
