👤It has not been installed for a while. The range of correction strength adjustment is absolutely necessary. The old fence controller was highly advertised and I could test it by walking to the fence line with my fingers on the prongs. I set the strength to 5 because I wanted to avoid the reactive jerk, which nearly tore my arm off. An elephant would be stopped by a 5 setting. Even for a dumb dog who uses his fingers as a test device, 3 is more than enough. It hasn't bee in that long, so we can't testify about longevity. Will know in a year or so.
👤This is a rare product that is well designed, built and documented. The installation instructions were very good. They need to be because this is an electronic system that will only work if it's installed correctly. If you read and follow the instructions carefully, you will end up with a system that works great. I had to create a border around 3 acres. I also bought a second PetSafe receiver collar and PetSafe wires. My plan was to just lay the wire down on the ground, because digging a 1500-foot trench is a lot of work. Two spots were chewed on through the insulation, and the wire was moved to another spot. We dug a shallow trench and buried it. The project took a long time. I was a little worried that twisting the wires together would not work, but it worked perfectly and the collar won't go off even an inch away from the twisted pair. This will allow you to get from the controller to the property line. The trick they suggest is to use a drill to twist the wires together. soldering and heat-shrink-insulating connections between wires were the only deviations from the instructions. I'm more confident in my approach, even though they provide a solderless way to do it. Does it work? Yes! My two dogs were wandering away at least daily before. The mildest shock is set to Level 2. I'm a fan of PetSafe, but I'm not affiliated with them.
👤I am very happy with PetSafe. The collar that you use is a 9 V battery and it will keep its charge longer than the older one we had. My 10 month old Weim/Lab mix would not stop jumping on the door and opening it, so we chose the "stubborn dog" model. It was so annoying that we tried everything to stop him, but we decided he needed a good zap to stop him. Immediately, he respected the boundary. If he gets too close, there is a warning sound and a zap. The collar can be used to control how much strength the dog has. We kept the dog away from the chickens and ran a wire around the yard, and now he doesn't even think twice about it. Do you have a stubborn dog? If you want to control your dog, you should get a system.
👤PetSafe is the way to go if you're a do-it-yourself person. I've tried many brands. Problem solved! The main box is easy to use and works great. The collar stays on the dogs and they work through all the rough play. Know how heavy a gaged wire you will need. Do you have a "STUBBORN" sports dog? Pits, Labs, and Short hairs. There is a wire made for Petsafe. Purchase that with the "petsafe" system. It's a tip. Change batteries every 3 days. Change weekly.
The 2nd Generation eXtreme Dog Fence STANDARD GRADE Kit covers up to 6 acres. The updated electronics are designed to work with new collar options. 3 Antennas, 12x battery check. Most other inground dog fence systems claim to be water resistant. The eXtreme Dog Fence can be submerged up to 10' deep. Your dog can swim with the collar on. The standard fence kit includes 20 gauge high tensile boundary wire with heavy protective jacket, digital transmitter, collar receiver, training flags and Splice kits. This dog fence has a one year warranty. Your warranty lasts for 5 years when you register your fence. This fence has been manufactured for more than 25 years and has a reputation for reliability and performance. The electric fence for dogs are manufactured in the United States of America. They are standing by to help you set up your fence, train your dogs and puppies, or deal with any issue that comes up.
👤The Extreme Dog Fence system took about 4 hours to install, but I am happy with the results for my mastiff. I was a little worried about the training, and made several calls for reassurance to the manufacturer, who I must say was absolutely amazing, even answering the phone on a Sunday and showing a lot of patience, and Johnny Allen who gave me amazing advice and instructions. It took about 10 minutes for him to understand the dog fence flags and Johnny told me not to let him off the leash until he was conditioned. We now let Brutus out for 4 to 5 hours a day, and he likes to chase squirrels, he is a big dog, and it is nice to see him lying in the sun and enjoying life. Many of my friends told me that it was cruel to leave a dog chained up in the house all day and that the electric dog fence was cruel. I have dealt with customer support overseas, where I spend a lot of time on the phone and rarely get my problem solved, and I feel less confident with the support I am given. It was refreshing to get American based customer support and an American made product. I researched many different products on the internet but chose extreme because of the reviews I found and the company who would support me during the selection, installation, training and long term support. I am confident that this won't be an issue, because I have received a high level of service so far. There are some highlights from my experience. Customer service and support are outstanding. Product 3 was very well made. 7 days a week phone support. I can honestly say that I don't know how I lived without this system after using it. My friends will be told about my experience. Team Extreme...you guys are awesome. The family is called the Blanchards.
👤When shopping for a product on Amazon, I rely on customers' reviews. The company will give a 1-year free supply of batteries to customers if they get a 5 star review. That may explain the high rating this product is receiving. This product is not more effective than the PetSafe invisible fence and is more expensive than other products. I bought dog leashes for my dogs. I could not use the collar to train my dog. I did not receive the promised number of flags. The size of the batteries is not standard, so you need to buy them from the company for twice the price of similar batteries. The batteries are always used even when the system is not connected to the electricity because the collar does not have a switch on/off. Everything else is similar to PetSafe and not unique to this company. The product keeps my dogs within the parameters. The company and customers who accepted the bribe were dishonest.
👤I did a lot of research before making a decision. My German Shephard mix is a very smart dog and she was able to get underneath the chain link fence and visit the neighbors at our new house. The chain link fence was never going to cut it with a houdini dog, so I decided to purchase a better deterrent. I chose this brand because of: 1. The price was competitive. 2. The thicker wire and lightening protectors were included instead of the nickel-and-diming ones. 3. The strength of the correction on the collar is very strong. 4. It was very convenient to have twisted wire. I was surprised at how easy it was to set it up. I separated the front and back yards by running it along the bottom of the chain link fence. This resulted in a slightly wider boundary from the fence than the rest of the yard, which did not bother me because this was the section of fence my dog kept digging under and pushing up. The programming was easy to understand and the electronics were easy to set up. My houdini dog has not escaped the yard since I installed this system a month ago. I was impressed by the company that called and followed me to see how the installation went. Great customer service.
The SportDOG Brand Rechargeable In-Ground Fence System only works with the Collar Receiver. Not compatible with the Contain + Train or the In-Ground Fence. The collar is waterproof and has one to two-month battery life. Contain an unlimited number of dogs with more than one collar. The receiver is without a strap. Before moving to one of the seven static stimulation levels, a collar should be used to give tone and vibration warnings.
👤Don't expect the dog to learn on their own. The dog will learn quickly if you put it on a fence. If you put it in the yard, it's confusing to the dogs and they might not use the full area. Don't use 24/7. Instructions say to not use more than 12 hours a day. If you don't take these off, the dog's neck will get sores and you'll be out of use until they heal. We know from experience. We try to give them more nights without them than with them, but we don't always take them off at night. They get a break. I'm sure they don't land on the same spot when we put them back on. Our dogs come into the garage at night. If you use a shock collar, I recommend you consider the same plan. There are many settings. If you don't know how to use these, you may return them thinking they don't work. How to turn them on, how to set the shock intensity, and how to set the boundary space are some of the things to learn. Depending on your yard size and dog attitude, you'll want to find the right setting for those things. When I need to charge it, I like the flashing green light and red light. The batteries last a long time. We're very happy with our purchase. We have two big dogs that work great at less than 12 the intensity. If you get these, read the instructions and start at the lowest level. My dog jumps up in the air and barks at level 4. Don't assume your dog needs full intensity, it's not the highest setting. These are great. The older version is better for size and functions, but they are smaller.
👤An 18 month old Doberman requires a lot of exercise. It has been a challenge to prevent him from disappearing into the woods. We take him to the dog park to blow off steam, but that's not always an option. We'd like to provide him with a lot of free space, but it's expensive. I ordered this product after researching the invisible fence. Installation was easy. The yard is large and surrounded by woods. We used up all the wiring. I picked up another 500' of invisible fence wire from the store. We looped 1500 feet of wire around the yard. We had a crack running across the driveway at around the halfway point between the house and the road that we filled with driveway repair goop. I used the edger attachment on my weed whacker to cut trenches and bury the wire in the rest of the yard. We used landscaping staple to secure the wire under the bushes and around the perimeter. Nature should do the rest. I used a drill to twist the wires that cross through the containment area and put them in the garage. The collar was set to be triggered by the transmitter at 5' away from the wire. The collar is set to the lowest level, which my wife and I tried on our arms to see what it felt like. It was time to train after everything was tested. We walked the dog around the perimeter. We would stop at random flags and say "no!", walk past them and then walk close enough to the wire to cause the static. That's all it took. I thought we'd be following the training guide for a month but he won't go near any of the flags if he's chasing birds, rabbits, balls, the kids or our other dog. He's on a leash. We get close to the flags and he stops and lays down. We couldn't recommend this more because it's a game-changer for us and our active boy.

👤I had originally given this product 5 stars. A picture of my cat wearing a product was posted. Within 2 weeks, the tracker stopped giving me the right area at the right time to find and secure my pet. At one point, the tracker showed my cat was 4 miles away. I was trying to find him in the dark woods. He was in the yard. I almost had an attack of hyperventilation. I called customer service after trying to reset. None. I sent it back to Amazon after having 3 events like this within a few days. Get this! You can't cancel the subscription when you send it back. A whole 114 dollars was gone. They won't refunds. Don't purchase before you think. Thank you for reading. I hope this helps someone else.
👤It's a waste of money. The live tracking is useless, our dog ran off and it displayed where he had been but not where he was real time as it claims. I used email to contact customer service. I'm on day 6 waiting for a reply, I think I should get a refund for this product, it's not good, but I'll see if I get one.
👤We bought this for our cat. My goal was to keep an eye on where he goes and how often he crosses a busy street so we can decide if he should stay. We might use this tracker permanently going forward, since it was not the original plan. You can set a very precise digital fence. It was important to me to know when he crosses the street on our block. I was surprised that I could drag the fence lines up to the sidewalk. You can set any shape along any road or property line you need. You can see a heat map of where he went during the last 24 hours, and see where he spent less time. It's funny. I use this to find out how often he goes into areas that are less safe. See the picture. Live tracking works well if he's in a wooded area, but you get notifications when he enters/exits the digital fence. If I'm trying to bring him inside and need to know where to look for him, this helps. I don't worry about the physical tracker coming off because it has a secure connection piece to his collar. It is easy to charge, and I find it lasts a few days. I let my cat in and out. I can check the battery life before I let him out. If your cat has a door to come and go, I can see the battery life being a little annoying to monitor. The app sends a notification if the charge is low, so I think battery life and charging work well here. It's easy to use and gives me the information I need. His position doesn't always update for 30-40 minutes. I have to turn on Live Tracking to get a more current read if I check on where he is. I don't know if the app would have known if he crossed the fence. I worry I might not be able to call him back when he's crossing the road. The app doesn't seem to have gaps on his position when I look at his historical heat map. The tracker is big for a cat. I was worried that it was too heavy for his neck, but eventually I was comfortable connecting it to his collar. He doesn't seem to care about it anymore. My cat is about 12 pounds. See the picture. The activity/exercise tracking features are not necessary for an animal. I only use historical heat map features. When he went into a treed area, I lost signal for 45 minutes. It took me an hour to realize he was off the grid because the app didn't tell me a signal had been lost. I panicked because live tracking wouldn't work, since it hadn't happened before. After I walked the block calling for him, he popped out on the app close to home after ignoring my calls. I don't think that area is "heavily wooded." I have a lot of evergreen trees and mature landscaping on the block. If you live among a lot of trees, you could lose signal often. There was a gap in his historical heat map tracking for that period. I don't like paying for gps tracking. I'm willing to pay for it because the app works well and I get a precise location on him to solve my problem. The tracker's up front cost was low enough to cover the ongoing cost.
Purchase additional wire to fence in up to 5 acres to secure a 1/3 Acre Yard. There are four levels of correction. If you have more than one pet, you should buy as many collars as you need. The PetSafe In-Ground Fence receiver collar will work with this fence system, you can purchase different style collars for every pet in the family. Their pet product experts can help.
👤The dogs will wear the collar consistently and sometimes they can walk over the wire and not be shocked. I don't trust the system as much as I should, and it's frustrating when we make sure the loop is on aND high, but on the other hand the line is close to our garage and the house. I will use it and test it to see if it works. It was bought in December of last year. I can't put my faith in the system when I know my dog's life is at risk living near major roads. It will never be sure if it will work.
👤Customer service made me tighten the collars even more. They had to care for the holes in their neck for weeks. I went to work on the area after buying some wooden stakes from Home Depot. I staked out the entire area I wanted to fence in. I put the wire around the stakes. I plugged the flags in and put the collar on. It worked for three months. My dog was always out of the yard. I bought new batteries after I ran out. Nope. Tightened the collar. Nope. Upped the strength. Nope. Everything looks good. There were no breaks in the wire. When I test it, the collar emits a sound. My dogs are no longer allowed in the yard. It stops working after three months. I am going to call customer service tomorrow to see if they can give me any advice, but I am sick and this happened during a holiday week.
👤I live on 3 acres in the Sierra foot hills and have had a fence for about 5 years. It recently gave me indigestion and has been fixed with a new transmitter. It really made financial sense to change systems with 3 collars investment. I have a take on the system and some hints. 1) Dogs are not the same. The huskies are persistent with their thigh prey response. Maybe the collars work 80%. Although costly, the gps collar has proven helpful. The Golden/Chow is fence compliant. The wire loop is a weak point for water penetration. Securing wire tightly to other fences can cause stress if less rigid structures are used. You can afford the heaviest wire. Shrink tubing can be used for solders, but mostly not. A wrap of tape holds up wire nuts. After 5 years, the Petsafe supplied caps begin to degrade. These were not reliable. Animals break the wires when buried or tied to fence wire. Settling earth can cause buried wire to be under a driveway. Allow some slack in the wire by placing it in a conduit. The 1/2” Irrigation tube protects the garden areas where you might be digging around. The collar unit is waterproof but has a heavier collar. The plastic snap is broken by dogs. It's hard to find the collar when it comes off. There are four The Model 300-1310 transmitter is my third replacement. The original was destroyed by a lightning strike. They didn't design in surge protection and fuses for this unit. Petsafe cost for a surge protection unit is ridiculous. The aftermarket has worked well. The second unit seems to have an electronic failure. A real pain to fix, even with an electronic tester, because you have to physically inspect thousands of feet of wire and splices with escaped dogs. Reliability and product robustness are only part of the story. Depending on your dogs, it works well. The start-up can be expensive and it can take a long time to fix it. Replacement batteries, lost collars and failed transmitters are maintenance costs. Some relief is offered by aftermarket suppliers. Petsafe could offer more help. Petsafe has always been quick to reply when I have contacted them for customer support. It's not so much replacing reasonably priced replacement parts. It is functional and no better alternative than I have found. It offers some measure of insurance, rather than having to think about replacing lost, stolen or fatally injured pets.

👤A Western Highland puppy is notorious for getting into trouble. A puppy that likes to run and is nearly impossible to catch is very problematic for a home where fencing is not allowed. We were at our wits end after several incidents of him escaping. I purchased this device in desperation and we couldn't be more pleased. When we put the collar on him, he is aware of his freedom and is happy to be outside. Our hope is that we can take the collar off and he will stay in the area. This device has been everything we could have hoped for and we love it. Plug in and use the dial to change the size of your circle, without digging or installing a real 888-353-1299 I warn you to be careful with your pet with the device on. I took our puppy into the garage and front yard and when my wife came home he jumped into her car to greet our girls. I think the metal and mass of the car blocked the device, and he got a little shock, even though he was within the permitted area. If you are patient, this device will work with any size dog and you and your pet will find new freedom and peace when your pet is running free.
👤Our lab is 16 months old and I bought this collar for him. She would run through the standard collar correction as soon as the kids played outside of the area set up for her and would "take the punishment" until the collar timed out. She would run away for an hour at a time and cause problems in the neighborhood. The collar has worked well. She has only been corrected a couple of times and she has yet to stand up to it. The Rechargeable option is better than the standard batteries.
👤My puppy was always going and trashing their flower bed. I was not sure about wireless containment systems as my pup is too young, and I couldn't lay down a fence. I saw this product in my friend's home and was so impressed with his dog that I ordered this the very next day. The strap could be adjusted to fit my small dog and the warning tone was enough to stop him from wandering far away.
👤If you don't want to mess with burying the wire, this is a great alternative. I trained my golden retriever in less than two weeks. Within an hour, I had this setup and operational, which included setting the desired range and placing the flags. Keep that in mind when you decide between a wired system and this. It was easy to take this along on a weekend trip and use it in a strange location for my puppy. I can't comment on the battery life yet, but if your dog does not test the boundary and the collar is not activated, the battery seems to last a lot longer. There is a Most people were very skeptical about this product. I am very happy with the decision to try it.

👤I wish I had found this a year ago. A great dog fence system. It works as described. I was worried because we moved to a new house with no fence and I have a high-energy boxer mix. I read the reviews before I install or train. The fence took me a few hours to set up, I set the receiver and measured the boundary holding a collar. It only took a couple of times going beyond the boundary for them to figure it out. We are on our third day of training and I take them outside 3-4 times a day and walk the boundary to praise them. They are a little freaked out after being shocked a couple of times, but I've been feeding them cheese while we are outside and they seem happy and stick close to me. I hope they will relax a bit more when in the yard. I don't have to mess with leashes when I take them out to do their business. I said "no" loudly and my big dog stopped short of the flags without getting shocked after he barked at his neighbor. I'm very happy with the dog fence system.
👤I have never bought a wireless dog fence system. We used to have an electronic dog fence system that was cheaper than this one. My baby is too smart to keep by a piece of Boundary wire. She learned that crossing the boundary wire by a fast speed will not cause her to be pulished but will allow her to avoid a lot of shocks. The dog fence system was useless to her. She will be pulished when she closes to the boundary and crosses over. She can't run away. Having my baby run away and have an incident is not a good thing.
👤Our dogs, one a mixed breed and the other a rottie, would always run when we let them out. The mutt would chase animals and the other would just like to explore. We love to let our dogs out to get fresh air and do their business in our neighborhood. The first night I showed them the perimeter. They understood their boundaries. I had to reset it for some reason because it was hard to set it up at the beginning. Everything was set to normal after I reset their collars. It is one of the best investments I have made.
👤I bought this unit for my golden retriever. I don't want to fence the 1 acres on the edge of town. I couldn't get him to show them the flags and the collar when on learn mode. It sat for a while because I couldn't get anyone to help train them. I said to let the dogs figure it out and put the collars on the first position that shocks them. It works great after they did it. I use it for a while and my dogs don't run off when I put on the collar, they are not scared of it. They love the freedom. This product is recommended by me.
Their wireless dog fence is more reliable and accurate than traditional ones. You don't have to worry about your dog getting hurt. There are three kinds of stimuli for training. When your dog goes out of the safe area, the system will startStimulus. The range of the radio can be adjusted. The range can be adjusted by pressing the M key. Your dog can play outside. It can work through only one collar receiver without additional cables or transmitters. You can start using it after a few minutes. Don't worry about your dog getting lost. All dogs over 10Lbs can use the waterproof dog fence. If you encounter a problem, please feel free to contact them.
👤I have used others, but they are of better quality. It's easier to tear because it's a little bit thicker. I bought it. I'm happy to have it. Excellent product to recommend.
ACRE OF CIRCULAR COVERAGE: Up to 1/3-acre of coverage can be achieved from the placement of the portable indoor transmitter. There is no wire toBURY. A wireless boundary is a great way to protect your pets without having to bury wires. Stubborn dogs can be used. The system has a tone-only mode and 5 levels of static correction that can be adjusted to match the temperament of the most persistent pets. If your pet passes the boundary, static-free return allows your pet to return home. A dog stays and plays. The system comes with a waterproof, rechargeable receiver collar that fits dogs up to 5 lbs and adjusts to fit neck sizes 6-28 inches. Set up your new fence in 1-2 hours. Each receiver collar charge lasts 3 weeks. You can take this portable fence with you when you go camping or travel in your RV.
👤My dog was saved by a collar. I tried to call my dog into the house after a black bear came into our yard. The bear passed us as we ran to the door and my dog chased it. She only wanted the bear, I couldn't call her back. The only thing that stopped her from getting tangled with the Maine black bear was the collar. I took a picture of the bear on my camera. You just need to turn the collar on to connect it and the battery will last a long time. Before using, read the directions and test them. I didn't like the way my dog was treated and now we are both happy and playing in the yard that is her own. She wouldn't come in the house when she was called, so I lowered the perimeter and she came in once it woke up. The neighbor is not showing up with his dog anymore because of the training device. I had to write a review after the bear incident. I took her to my parents beach. I was able to plug the base in so she could swim and play around it. She couldn't go up on the busy street by the house. I took the dog and collar to a friend's house. The collar needs to be reset next to the base. The dogs can play on the same signal if you go.
👤Two years have passed since we got the pet system, and both of our dogs are breaking through the perimeter. We had purchased the PetSafe Stay & Play Wireless Fence for Stubborn Dogs Collar and we fully charged the collar, and I walked up to the perimeter and it told me it was working. My neighbor told me that our dog was hit by a truck and died in the road. My dog died because of a false advertisement.
👤The Giant Schnauzer has the same energy level as the Tasmanian devil and is like the size of a horse. I had to spend the money on this collar after having multiple encounters with our neighbors from her roaming through their garden and playing with their chickens. It was our final option. I wish I would have done it sooner. I started training her for 30 minutes a day. She was on a leash when she wasn't training so she couldn't run outside. I started out with the beeping tone and it didn't seem to bother her. After working with her, I turned the shock level to 2 and then 3. I found that level 4 was perfect for her since she is so stubborn and large. I didn't have to go any higher. She ran back to the house after going past the perimeter a few times. She did not like it. She is acting better now that she won't go close anymore. She is listening and respecting our commands. Positive enforcement is a must while training. No more tension with neighbors and no more stress.
The highest level of static correction is available. The battery is 9V alkaline and ideal for training hearing-impaired dogs. The waterproof receiver has a low battery indicator. Keep as many pets as you need safe in your yard with this add-a-dog receiver collar. YardMax and UltraSmart are not compatible with all PetSafe In-Ground Systems. AJUSTABLE COLLAR: Pets with neck sizes 6 to 28 inches are suited. Long battery life. The battery in the collar is not included.
👤If you enjoy being on hold while waiting to talk to someone, then buy this if you love having to make immediate trips to your local hardware store, spending Saturdays working on a project that you've already worked on and know that any results of your labor will likely be lost within a few I wasted a lot of time and money trying to make this system work, and I am so frustrated that I am not going to do anything else. There is a background. I grew up in the house we live in. An invisible fence was installed by a local company when we were young. It worked well for over 15 years. There were occasional breaks when we would dig a hole or aerate the yard. Those were easy to fix. No "partial break" issues. I can't find the collar from the old system when we get a dog. I decided to give it a try because buying a new collar was more expensive than the whole PetSafe system. It worked well for about 6 months, then we started having issues with the loop light going off. Sometimes it would turn back to normal by itself. I would turn off the power occasionally. It would work again. Sometimes I would have to plug in the "Break Locator" and after that it wouldn't work again, but only for a while. A new transmitter has been received. For a few months, I worked. Same issues as before. PetSafe told me that it must be a partial break again. There was no way to see any breaks because the wire was buried. PetSafe's break could not pick up any breaks. The signal was strong around the whole loop. I replaced the wire in our yard. I pulled up the old sections. We got a 3rd transmitter in January. The random beeping started last week. I came home and it was loud. I switched the power on/off for the first time. But again, it was beeped. The person on the phone with PetSafe still thinks it's a partial break. We haven't worked on the yard. I don't understand how a wire can break randomly in 3 months. It could be that the wire is wrapped too tight or not tight enough. Really? Why would it work for 3 months and then go out? I don't have anything left to deal with this. I'm looking for an alternative and would love a recommendation.
👤It worked well for the first week. Our dog ran and walked through it without being shocked. Everything was set up without a shock or a beep. It was too unreliable and disappointing.
👤Have a dog. Doesn't work with him. He doesn't care about the shock at level 5. He ignores it after it worked for 1/2 a day.
👤I bought this in June. The battery connections are not the same. The things should last more than 4 months with what they cost.
👤I paid $80 for a collar that didn't have a battery, but I haven't used it yet.
2 hours of charge provides about two weeks of battery life. Independent correction levels can be used on most dogs. Minimum of 34 feet in diamete or 17 feet in radius is needed to cover a circular area up to 1/3 of an acre. Multiple transmitters combined create a larger coverage area and can be installed within 15 minutes.
👤The fence is performing better than I anticipated. I live on 2.5 acres. Roughly 1.5 of it is wooded. I put one in the front of the house and one in the back to make a larger figure eight for the dogs. I assumed the wooded areas wouldn't work well, but they do! I'm not sure if it's as good of a signal as back in there, but it works into the woods. I would recommend this fence. A senior wirehaired pointinggriffon is set to beep only, but he is well aware of what the fence is all about. We have a 6 month old Am Staff/American Bulldog/Neo Mastiff mix set to Level 4 and she respects the fence as well. She stopped running when she started chasing one of our chickens. She stopped if she actually got to the boundary.
👤I wasn't sure if this would work, but I was pleasantly surprised. After moving the base around the house, we were able to find a spot that the dogs could run in, 45 feet up the street and to the backyard bushes. When placing the flags, it's not an exact science, but finding most spots correctly and then adding many flags in between to make a clear boundary worked well. The dogs were shocked twice when learning, but with continued walking on a leash towards the white flags, they quickly learned to stay away. I used a white oil-based pastel crayon to draw a white line because it was impossible to put flags in our driveway. They caught on. We charged the necklaces for our two dogs once, but have owned the product for a month and a half. Our quality of life has improved greatly. When the front door is open, the dogs run in and out without fear of running away.
👤There is an update! Don't buy it! My dog has been shocked at random. I was shocked when I picked the collar up. Amazon, please stop selling this product! If you have a steep incline, this product won't work. The collar unit is easy to charge, but it's difficult to put the plug in. I had a hard time hearing the beep when I was setting the boundaries. The instructions say to hold it at your dog's height, but I wouldn't be able to walk up and down the hill with my hand over my dog's head. The first time I was alone with my dog, he lost it. It's hard to find, wish it had a neon color so it could be seen. Maybe I could have found a remote control to make it sound better. I couldn't return it because I didn't have all the pieces, and I wouldn't spend another $150 for another collar unit. My two dog system is a one dog system because it is hard to switch the programming. My older schnauzer did better training than the one year old Australian did. The Aussie would get excited by something outside the boundary and then take off when she was shocked. The system doesn't seem to work on one side of the property, the Aussie figured it out right away. She can't get there because the boundary has been reduced. The reason I chose this system was because it would cover 1/3 of an acre and we are not able to get that much space because of the steep drop off. It is easy to reduce the boundary with the 16 different options and the dogs seem to like it.
