1. Globalstar Satellite Tracking Theft Alert Technology

Globalstar Satellite Tracking Theft Alert Technology

Tracking is done online in near real-time. Receive a notification when the SPOT Trace's vibration sensor discovers asset movement. Track an asset that is mostly stored on the water with the DOCK MODE. Receive a daily alert if SPOT Trace is powered off, or a notification if it is. Receive a notification when the batteries are low.

Brand: Spot X

👤I've been using the Spot unit for two years. The unit doesn't tell me that it has moved when it rains. The Spot is in a dry place, but the weather seems to confuse it. The first year of service was cheap. Spot automatically renewed my service for a second year. I had an expired credit card on file. The new year of service was billed at $164. Spot sent out an e-mail that said they would add a network fee to all accounts, which would push my single Spot subscription to almost $200 per year. I had to call them to cancel my service because I log on to cancel before they auto- bill. The constant increasing prices have made me warn others off of this device and service until they can be more up front and consistent with the prices.

👤Don't buy this product. A classic bait and switch scam. I paid $100 for the spot trace and $100 for the first year of service, but the rate was raised to $164 after 11 months. If this was a perfect device, I would consider that jump, but it's pretty bad. Look up the app in the app store and check out the reviews. They're terrible, I'll let you know. The tracker works. It depletes batteries like nobody's business. I get about 3 months at the 5 minute increment which is nowhere near what they claim. You need a glasses size screwdriver and you need to keep track of 4 black screws that hold the back on when you change the batteries. When you get into the new price of their service, there are many other options. Thanks for nothing.

👤We were robbed at a construction site a few times. I ordered a few but they didn't arrive in time for the last theft. or so I thought. They hit us again last night after a month of quiet. They stole my $15,000 tractor and my $2100 attachment, as well as some other tools. I wish I had a tracker on those, but I didn't think people stole them. I just bought a replacement tiller, just an 18 inch walk behind self powered one, waiting on the insurance for the big stuff. I put a spot trace on it. We're hit again because it has been up there less than a week. My builder called me at 7:30 pm to say that they had gotten into his office trailer and stole a bunch of tools, as well as security cameras and personal stuff. I'm excited because they stole my tiller. I check the app on my phone and I'm not finding what I'm looking for, the screen is too small, so I go out to my computer and look at the website, and see that they first moved my tiller at 9:16 pm, then messed around for 3 hours They probably broke into the trailer at that time. They drove away from their house on a dead end road. I used a county tax map that is online that I often use, and I called the police because Spot Trace didn't tell me the address. It took 5 minutes from being told it was stolen to finding the address of the thieves. The police needed a detective. It took some time. I guess the plan was for the detective to go and ask for a search and if they denied permission to wait on a warrant. The pickup truck was parked out in the open still loaded with stuff, an armed felon was unloading it, another thief took off on a motorcycle, and it was a bit pointless. A meth lab was inside the house, the truck was stolen from another party, and the guy who came by to make the meth ingredient delivery was also arrested. I think they are going to try and catch more meth heads tonight. We got my tiller back, but not the stuff that was stolen in June. I think it was these same criminals who probably sold the stuff or something. It's not cheap, but with Moore's law hopefully it will get cheaper, it's really great insurance. I own 3 now, so that was a $600 investment, and the tiller I recovered was $800. Had it been on my $15,000 tractor, that's not great math. $200 to put some scumbags behind bars is worth it when you add in the thefts, the firearms, and the meth, he won't be getting out anytime soon. This is a much better option than TrackR or Tile. If someone uses the app on their phone, they can walk by your lost item. The battery life is great, and the device can pick up a cell signal, so it's a true gps tracker. If your equipment is stolen, you should write down your serial numbers, brands, and model numbers so that you can give the police the information they need. It might be good for tracking teenagers. They come with a bunch of things to mount them. I don't like those options, I wouldn't put this anywhere that is easily accessed by a drill or screwdriver, it needs to be tucked up under something, hidden, and the glue isn't that reliable looking. I like to put it in a place that you can't see, for instance, if you put a bike in a water bottle, it could be inside the seat bottom. I've used industrial strength velcro which is really good and it's not a big commitment, I could remove it one day. For a permanent mount, I use a mixture of epoxy and Weld Steel Reinforced to permanently adhere the brackets to something, and then I can pop the tracker in and out of the brackets as needed. Moore's law has been updated. Spot almost doubled their subscription fees and auto charged people renewals without telling them. I paid $109 for my first year of service. That is crazy. The price of technology is supposed to decrease. I cannot recommend a company that behaves this way, minus 4 stars for poor customer service. Is it possible to pay $300 per device near the end of the year?

Brand: Garmin

👤The garmin 78sc worked for a week, then got an error message that it couldn't unlocks maps, and then they said garmin knew about the problem and a fix was being worked on.

👤I have used this device extensively, including over a 47 day kayak trip from Anacortes, Washington to Petersburg, AK. It's an awesome tool when it's functioning correctly. There are some design defects that need to be fixed. 1. The rubber covers for the power andusb ports leak salt water and can cause problems. Positive enclosures that never leak are what my other IPX 7 devices have. 2. The device consumes more power when loaded with a lot of waypoints. I was able to see this over a long period of time as I deleted routes and waypoints. As data grows, it never gets to sleep because the software loop always evaluates everything rather than what's currently relevant. 3. The unit OFTEN was locked up. This would require removing the protective cover and restarting. It's not something you want to do in windy conditions. I stopped using this feature eventually. I love it when it works. Before paddling on salt water, I have coated protective covers with Aquaseal. I have to remove it before I can connect it to the computer. They are very close to a great design and I want to love it. Wouldn't it be great if they listened to their customers better? January 7, 2020. I would like to add to my review. Over 34 days, last summer, circumnavigated the island by kayak. I loaded my gpsMAP with a lot of data. While following tracks the battery never locked up. I think software changes have fixed my complaints. Poor design of port covers will leak.

👤I bought the product to replace my old handheld 76c. It was a workhorse and the maps were small. The device could be used with WP. I was disappointed that the charts had no detail, like buoy markings, when I purchased the 78sc. I only had a giant marker on the scale of a small scale chart, because making scale larger resulted in the loss of any useful landmarks. Tech support said to me "what do you expect with a handheld and limited memory?" Over a decade later? The 76c is not a replacement for the 78sc, which is a handheld marine chart. The screen size is smaller than the older model. I would not recommend this device for use in the water.

👤Over the years, I've used a number of Garmin handhelds. I bought this unit to replace the failed one. The 78sc was expected to be a decent replacement. This is not the case. The hardware seems very good, but the software is terrible, especially compared to the oldGPSMAP 76. After I downloaded my old routes and waypoints, I tried to use the unit on my sailboat for a race around the cans. After loading up a route consisting of A, B, C, and A, the unit did not flip to the next waypoint, once a waypoint is reached. I couldn't find a way to flip it. It's difficult to explain, but you will find it annoying. TheGPSMAP 76 was superior in this area. There are two more You can't tell on the navigation page what your next point is. Unlike the 76, it is not displayed. There are 3 more The "active route" page doesn't give any information about the route's waypoints, just the names. Again, unlike the 76. The points are listed in order of distance, not alphabetical. It is hard to find what you are looking for if you have a lot of waypoints. There are five When you are on a sailboat in moderate seas, the speed andvelocity made a good jump. The 76 allowed you to take averages for a longer period of time. The option is not available on the 78sc. The unit is hard to read when the backlight is off. The battery life is poor with the backlight on. The user interface of the 78sc was dumbed down by Garmin. A disappointment. The 78sc is almost useless for me.

3. ACR GlobalFix Cat EPIRB Manual

ACR GlobalFix Cat EPIRB Manual

The multiple built-in redundancies of the GlobalFIX marine distress EPIRB will increase your probability of survival at sea. The GlobalFIX V4 accurately fixes your location and broadcasts it to Search and Rescue forces worldwide via a powerful 406 MHz distress signal. The US country code is used for the registration of this HairMax and must be registered to a vessel with a US MMSI number. The first point of contact during an emergency situation would be the US Search and Rescue authorities. This is not suitable for use in Australia and New Zealand. If you need to register outside of the US, you can purchase their alternative listing. The device can be registered in the country of your choice with the help of a reprogrammed device. Please be aware that the same country must be used for both the EPIRB and the MMSI. Most countries require you to register your HairMax. If your beacon is ever activated, it is important that you register so that Search and Rescue Teams can know who you are, and contacts can give you information about your travel plans. It may take more time for a search-and-rescue operation to start. In grave and imminent danger to life, this HairMax should only be used. Search and Rescue services are disrupted by false alerts. A penalty could be imposed for carelessness misuse of the device. In grave and imminent danger to life, this HairMax should only be used. Search and Rescue services are disrupted by false alerts. Brand: Acr

👤It really works. I removed mine from its cradle while I was painting the center console and it got wet from the hose overspray. I didn't realize it until the middle of the day. I went to check my phone and saw my mom, my oldest son, and the coast guard all calling me. Oops. If you follow directions, your life will be saved.

👤If you're getting an EpiRB, make sure it's 406mhz. The 120something mhz are for tourists and dominate Amazon's selection. Read the fine print.

👤I own two ACR products, the first is installed on a sailboat. Online registration is quicker and easier than the SALVAGEDATA.

👤I bought this for my boat since we run the East Grand Traverse Bay in spots that are 600' deep. It is necessary to have safety equipment in case something happens.

👤A piece of mind when in the ocean.

👤US programmed epirb was shipped. Can't be reprogrammed by ACR. I can't have a Canadian device shipped to me in the US because they can't. Canadian devices can be shipped to the US and vice versa. This error was able to occur. The hassle to ship the device to family in Canada and then pay to ship it to me in the US was nothing. iSave broke their own rules and shipped a US device to Canada, which will delay my ocean crossing.

4. Dual Electronics XGPS150A Multipurpose Augmentation

Dual Electronics XGPS150A Multipurpose Augmentation

Add Gps. You can strengthen your Gps signal on any device by connecting via wireless. The free downloadable app provides accurate gps coordinates, position update rate change, and much more. Being able to add accurate gps to your device will allow you to use hundreds of available apps. The Gps receiver has a battery life of over eight hours of continuous use and comes with a usb charging cord. That will stick to most surfaces.

Brand: Dual Electronics

👤It works better than I anticipated. I have an older WiFi only iPad Mini that I wanted to use for navigation but it doesn't have built-in gps. When I connected my iPad mini to the dual XGPS105A via a wireless connection, it asked to download the accompanying app. The app is useful. It tells you the number of satellites you are connected to, the signal strength, position information, and the battery status. I turned it on in the house because I couldn't wait but I was able to connect to multiple satellites with ease. I thought I would have to go outside. With the gps locked and loaded, I tried out some maps. Both worked well. My weather radar map is now location enabled. Awesome. I have taken it down the road a few times now, about 100 miles total, without issue, but I will update this review once I have a longer road trip under my belt. I didn't expect to see the app mentioned in any of the reviews or forums. This thing is special. I can't wait to try it out against other devices, like a newer iPad, windows tablets, and some surveying equipment. I will report back, but so far it's been good.

👤Don't buy anything from AXXERA or DUAL. The unit will work for 25 times, then the internals will short out, killing the battery, but they will sell you another battery. Next year there will be some other name. They changed their names to keep up with consumer fraud. Don't buy anything made by these people. You will be sad.

👤I bought a gps receiver for my Jeep. This product works in conjunction with my Apple iPad and provides pin point accurate gps for any app you are using. It takes 5 to 10 minutes to connect to my iPad via BluTooth once I turn on the puck. This could be my fault. Overall very pleased! It's easy to charge up at home or in your vehicle. Very easy to use. I stuck a piece of tape to the back of the vehicle and it still works.

👤For almost two months, use the dual XGPS150A with my iPad 2. Since the iPad 2 didn't have a gps receiver installed, I decided to use the dual XGPS 150A, which is described in the technical documentation to receive 12 gps and up. The dual XGPS15A is a free navigation app that has a very simple and minimalist design. The dual XGPS150A receiver is small and has Haptics very pleasant. The gps is green. The Bluethooth connection is created relatively fast after switch on, but the GLONASS satellites are not supported, but they are displayed in the app, but they are crossed out. It happens in dense forests on winding roads and in large cities close to tall houses. When you're on foot in New York, Boston, and Chicago, the pressure point is non-tactile, so locating is almost non-existent. The dual XGPS150A would no longer splash water and dirt if you removed the plastic cover and cut a hole in the non-slip pad.

Brand: Spy Tec

👤It looks cool. It's not clear how well it works. Is there a monthly and activation payment plan? The description says just track and activation. Sending it back. Being lied to sell a product is worse.

👤My girlfriend was cheating. Sucks. It's better than not knowing the truth. The tracker was easy to set up. The charge lasted longer than other reviews stated. The best feature is the text alert feature, which I would get whenever my ex arrived or left the apartment complex. I placed the tracker under her vehicle. I submitted a form on their website to cancel the service after the job was done. I will change this review to a one-star if they continue to charge my card. There is an update. Within 24 hours, they confirmed my cancellation request. Locating the cancellation form was very easy. I would recommend this product to anyone who is suspicious of infidelity.

👤This was used to track my ex- wife. I suspected her of cheating and caught her visiting her boytoy while I was at work. I can laugh about it now, but at the time I had to know that watching her every move on the Spytech screen was traumatic.

👤It's horrible. I didn't give any fees. Monthly fees are very high.

👤Monthly fees for service were not realized.

👤Customer support and the tracker are both junk. I have had this device for a while and still can't use it. Customer support consists of an online chat that tells you to reset the device and then take it for a drive. I have done that many times. It still shows that I am in New Jersey. I am not in New Jersey. I should have researched other trackers before buying this one. Total waste of money! The service is $25 a month.

👤You need to buy this if you suspect your spouse is cheating. It works well. Ignore the negative reviews because it told me exactly what I needed to know. Those are from people who didn't follow the instructions.

👤You need a monthly subscription to use the tracker, but I didn't hear that part.

👤The setup could not have been simpler and the app is modern and doesn't glitch out. It came with the sim already installed and was not upset about the subscription fees. It didn't detect one of my trips, that's the only issue I've noticed so far. It updated to my location once I arrived, without any notifications. Hopefully this isn't a recurring issue.

👤A very useful product. I took one star because of the high subscription fee. Good quality. Product is worth the money. The battery life is similar.

👤Toutes le technique, prĂ©cision et durĂ©e de la batterie. Seul point. The cacher sous l' auto.

👤Garbage is what these little devices are. It was horrible to get working properly. Send back.

👤POS doesn't work. Tech support keeps telling me that it doesn't work.

6. Garmin ETrex Rugged Handheld Navigator

Garmin ETrex Rugged Handheld Navigator

The handheld gps is reliable. The display has a sunlight-readable color and display size of 220 x 220. There are roads and trails for hiking and cycling in the Topo Active maps. Tracking in more challenging environments is possible with the support of gps and GLONASS satellite systems. There is 8 gigabytes of internal memory for map downloads. Up to 25 hours in the gps mode with 2 AA batteries.

Brand: Garmin

👤A lot of the negative reviewers didn't understand what they were buying when they ordered this. This isn't a replacement for your maps and it isn't intended to be. Some of the negatives are positive features. It was large. It's large, but it will take a lot more beating than a small smart phone. The shape makes it easier to hold in the hand. 2. There is no touchscreen. Have you ever tried to use your phone in the rain? Touchscreens are great in warm climates. It is designed for use in dirty environments. 3. The user interface is outdated. This sort of phone is similar to a 2008 cell phone. The layout is easy to set up and contributes to the battery life. 4. AA batteries. The eTrex doesn't have a rechargeable battery like every other electronic device. It's difficult to understand why they think this would be a good idea. If you're out on a long hike/camping/hunting trip for several days, it's unlikely that you'll have access to a charging port, which makes it easier to just pop in two new batteries when the old ones run out. 5. There is a memory capacity. The maps take up the entire integrated memory. You can buy a 32gb card for $6 and download as many maps as you want. There are lots of videos on how to do this. 6. There is no map detail. I haven't encountered any flaws with the maps, so unless you're trekking through Gates of the Arctic, you'll probably be covered on any state or local trails. 7. Inaccuracy of location. The registered location is close to where I'm actually standing. My cell phone is usually off by 50 to 100 feet. It's not the point of exactitude, it's to help you find your way back to your camp, etc. Being off by a few yards isn't a big deal if you're within sightline. There are 8. There are noroutable maps. It operates differently than your phone's map app. You type in the address and it takes you there. It's not clear why people think it won't. There are 9. The features and interface are confusing. I can't believe this one. There are lots of videos and articles on how to use features. I download AllTrails Pro trails into Basecamp and then export them onto the eTrex when I'm ready to go. I follow the trail on the device. There are two more When I go on a non-prepared trip, I use the eTrex to record my track and save it on the device, then I plug it into my computer and send it to Basecamp. Done. If you're outdoors a lot, you're willing to dedicate minimal time to understanding how to use it, and you understand that this sub-$200 gps that will last you for a decade is not intended to replace your $800+ cellphone.

👤The company is abysmal. The product they have created is straight out of the era of the Blackberry. They offer nothing in the handheld market that is close to a modern device. This piece of hardware and software is not good. I will return it. I didn't return the inferior Garmin that I have in my car, and it burns me up. Never again! The screen is tiny, and I have encountered other issues in my brief period of ownership. I need to hike in the desert. The screen is useless. My phone works in the same way with no glasses. - The best tech minds don't work for Garmin. - The screen gets bumped in your pocket and you lose battery life. You can't search for a location by state, it returns zero results. The method to change the order of items in the Main menu is different from the Route Planning menu. - The deleted tracks menu contains all the settings. What? There are no maps. The data is solid, so I give this 2 stars instead of 1 Since my return of this device, I have been using a solution. I wanted a dedicated device just for mapping, I hike extensively off trail. I bought a burner phone at a box store and it works without being activated. I disabled all the apps that I could. I bought and downloaded Gaia for mapping and route finding. You can download maps before you leave. You can get phone service if you don't have to download maps, but it will cost more. I made the device bulletproof by adding a protective case with a backpack clip and an external battery pack. The setup has been great. Gaia is awesome. There are maps on the screen. The hardware and software are easy to use. The accuracy is very good. I have access to a lot of maps. Finally, it's a cheaper option. It's shocking that the company that does this can't do it.

7. Acr ResQLink 400 Personal Locator

Acr ResQLink 400 Personal Locator

The motorcycleGPS navigation system is made to embrace most elements that it may encounter, this is the All Terrain system. No subscription is required. The Emergency Distress signal is on 406 MHz. There are two types of Strobe, the LED and the Infrared. Global coverage, Cospas-Sarsat, and MEOSAR.

Brand: Acr

👤It's great for peace of mind. If you can see the sky, you will be found anywhere in the world. It must see the skies to see the satellites. The guy who strapped it to his jet ski is doing something else. It is only made for water pressures found at the water surface. They have equipment for marine use. You might as well complain about the jet ski conking out. Pick the right tool for the job.

👤I got this for my son while he was jet skiing and it was full of rust, but he did not need it for an emergency.

👤The chances of using an emergency beacon are very low. When regular cell service is unavailable, the emergency number is available. If you travel off the beaten path and need insurance against being in a real life and death situation and having absolutely no other way to call for help, this emergency beacon is light and reliable. It is necessary to register with the US Government.

👤This is my second PLB. I have a bag for winter travel. I drive across Washington, Oregon and Idaho. Cell phones become less reliable when you are away from cities. There have been terrible accidents in remote areas. This is what I call my Just. Back up.

👤I lost my first ResqLink, so this replaced it. I registered it with the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration. It's great to have when you're out at sea. I kayak a lot and it gives me peace of mind.

👤I hope I never have to use it. Individual registration is free and easy to do.

👤I can't comment on how well the unit works or not, because I haven't used it. I used the test function, and it worked perfectly. I'm still waiting for the written confirmation from the Feds that they have the registration information, but registration was quick and easy. I'm out on extended motorcycle trips for about four weeks this summer and this provides an additional bit of comfort. I have a good chance of being rescued if something goes wrong, so it makes traveling seem a bit safer. The system is easy to deploy and light weight. I wish they had more options. A few years ago, I borrowed a one that had a strap that I could use to hold it to my arm. This one is in the pocket of my jacket. It's not as easy to get to in an emergency. My family and friends know where I am and that I'm okay, thanks to the SPOT and this. Highly recommended.

👤I assumed the battery will last like it says, so I couldn't give any stars for it. It was very easy to register. The instructions were easy to understand. I did the test and it passed, as far as I know. It's about the size of a small clunky cell phone and not heavy, but heavier than the average cell phone. I think it's worth the money for the peace of mind. I think anyone that goes out on the water should have one of these. Things can go wrong very quickly.

Brand: Garmin

👤I bought this for my job. I drive from site to site all day long. When you tap on the client site address buttons in the app, you will be taken to the maps app and the addresses will be automatically inserted. I wanted this gps to integrate with my phone so I wouldn't use it. A special team was working with the internet giant. You can share maps with the gps via the app. Great. I can easily shoot those addresses to the gps device. I thought so. That's fine and well, but it's the worst. Absolutely the worst. The drive to work in the morning was the first test. I was told to take all of these. I know how to get there. I used the gps to zoom out on my way to work. It was going to the ocean. The routes the gps received were all over the place. It never took me to the right place. I would fire everyone involved. If I abandoned the export-to-Drive method and just copied and pasted the addresses from Maps to the Drive app directly, it worked without issues at least 90% of the time. I still had issues with the gps search telling me that addresses don't exist manually. The same input is found on the maps. It took me 20 minutes to the northeast of town when the actual location was 5 minutes away, which was fine with the maps. The address was entered directly into the gps. I would advise you to double check all of your addresses and routes before you even start driving, because it will save you an hour and a half plus fuel costs. I gave it 3 stars because of my reason for buying. You only have one job to find addresses. If I enter a valid address and you can't find it, you failed at your job. The larger screen, the8", would be a good place to burn the extra cash. It's stopping for no reason. I've been within a few turns of my destination and the gps just stops. It shows the map, but not the navigation. The unit is completely frozen when I pull over. I have to power cycle it and then enter the address again. I'll stop at a gas station for gas and the unit will stay on 12v and I should be fine. Not always. The gps screen can be turned off. The power button does not do anything. The power button is not important. I have to plug the power back in and start navigation again after I have unplugged the power completely. There's still full current to the plug it's connected to. It's been just shy of a month since my last update. I had no freezing or unresponsiveness issues for about two weeks. I can only assume that the update has fixed something. When the power is cut, the device shuts off. If you hit the power button, it will be hard to turn it back on. Hold the button for a while and wait. It will turn on. It takes time to do it. There is a That's pretty conclusive for me. I think I'm done. Good luck with the way people drive.

👤It took 7 hours to update and install all the maps. It doesn't have any off-road trails in any of the maps. I went to load the file for the peace trail, but I found out it couldn't be used as a route because it had to many waypoints. I called customer service and they told me that I needed to use a program called garmin basecamp on my computer to seperate the waypoints into different groups. When using basecamp, they can only suggest buying the 24k topo map for 99$, which has bad reviews, because the topo maps don't show any of the trails between the waypoints. It would bring me back to trying to get the basecamp program figured out on how to split the trail into 2 seperate trails and then transfer that to garmin explore, yet another app, and finally back onto the tread.

👤In the northern upper peninsula of Michigan, I go off road a lot. The roads are not marked the best. I would have gone back to camp without the gps. I would have put on more miles. My gut was telling me to go in one direction, but the navigator said to go in another direction. I went the other way. I was very happy I had it. It made sense that the "all seeing eye" of the Garmin Tread said to go the way it did once my gut and the Garmin came into alignment. The price tag is high. I also had trouble with it. If you can get past the price, you can bring the gps with you, but only if it's a large screen and how it connects to other cameras. I don't need a navigation device anymore. I used to use a Topo map and compass to get around. The system is still relevant, but using the Garmin is better. My handheld gps is not as good for night time driving in the wilds. Do I still have a compass in my pocket? You bet!

👤The screws and hole nuts are the same as those of ACE. You can see the panel behind the Polaris screws. Solid. The Beofeng handheld radios have a loud and clean sound but the radio is much more clear and clean. The Tread has a better mic. Don't connect phone while cranking the tunes, you can run mp3's via bluetooth to external speakers. When the unit is sharing the phone with external speakers, it fails in about three seconds. The phone is great.

👤The screen is perfect. It is completely readable in the sun. This garmin is easy to use and operate. The HD screen is great. The tube mount is strong and stable. One push of a button and you're on your way. Way to go!

👤There was no case or sleeve. It would have been nice to have a case or sleeve to protect the screen when not connected to the mount. It is expensive to leave on the mount.

👤I ordered this item because I believe the wireless cameras are working, in particular the BC40, but I was told by support that the TREAD BASE is only compatible with the BC cameras.

10. McMurdo Fast Find Ranger PLB

McMurdo Fast Find Ranger PLB

You can register the device in the country of your choice with the free reprogramm service included in thisPLB. If you want to register the device in the US, you should purchase a separate listing. Some countries, such as Belgium, Spain and Germany, may not allow registration of devices, but they can be registered in the US. Most countries require you to register your Personal Locator beacon. If your beacon is ever activated, it is important that you register so that Search and Rescue Teams can know who you are, and contacts can give you information about your travel plans. It may take more time for a search-and-rescue operation to start. Some of the world's most remote locations and difficult conditions have been tested with PLBs. The McMurdo Fast Find Ranger PLB is easy to use. Pull the anti-tamper seal and press the ON button to deploy the antenna. ThisPLB should only be used in the most dire of situations. Search and Rescue services are disrupted by false alerts. A penalty could be imposed for carelessness misuse of the device.

Brand: Mcmurdo

👤The main feature is hard to review or compare since I have never used it. I will trust the McMurdo brand if the test goes well, because they are a trusted brand for this type of equipment. The antenna is covered and will not pop open, but it is a better design than my ACR QLINK: There is a The buttons are clearly labeled. The instruction and registration label is not flapped about with a high risk of tearing off. The pouch is large enough to get the unit into easily. The pouch is well made. It isn't a float pouch. There is a The price point is better than ACR offerings. Better battery life. The unit seems to be brand new and has a battery good for 7 years. My ACR took about 4.5 years to be received. The McMurdo unit is slightly longer, by 1/2 an inch, and I don't like that ACR had better things. Shorter is better. The folding sticker on ACR is dumb and could tear off, but it provides a protected location for placing the registration sticker, which is not always laminated like they used to be. The McMurdo will probably need a laminated label. The ACR price premium is not sensible for a product that is equivalent or slightly lagging McMurdo's offering.

👤I might end up dead if iff doesn't work, because ain't used it and hope not to ever.

Multiple visual signals are ensured by the use of a Strobe light that is bright as well as an IR Strobe light.

Brand: Acr

👤Do not buy this beacon if you see that it is being sold by a company called Orbital Satcom Corp. When we tried to set up our beacon, our satellite registration was rejected. ACR and the NOAA found out that Orbital Satcom Corp is illegally refurbished beacon from the UK. The beacon won't work in the US. I flagged Orbital Satcom Corp with Amazon because I am concerned that more of these illegal beacon may be on the market. We rely on this beacon to save our lives when we are fishing off shore without cell service. If we had an emergency, we would not have been saved because it was not working. $375 is spent on an emergency product that will not work and it has been illegally reprogrammed.

👤A brand-new sealed unit was received. The self-test failed immediately. ACR initially was very responsive, but then told me that they don't know when they will be able to provide a replacement, and that all their stock is allocated to filling new orders. Good luck getting a warranty replacement if you buy one of these. This is not acceptable on safety equipment.

👤The product was received in a timely manner, but the battery only has 4 years and 3 months left. When you don't get 5 years on the battery, don't advertise.

👤As long as I don't die, I can call for help. I bought my first one 5 years ago and it was very easy to use. The good news is that this is the second one I ordered, but I returned the first one because it was already 6 months old. The second one is 6 months old.

👤This is for Christmas. The unit tried to conduct their self test. The unit failed the test. I contacted ACR. I will make a new update based on how they respond. This review needs to be updated. The new unit was free of charge and passed both the basic self test and the gps test. I will increase my rating but my faith in this unit has been shaken because I am not the only one to have a brand new unit fail the "Basic Self Test".

👤There is a date on 1/3-21. It's not aGPSPLB so far. It might work as a drawer handle, but only if it is a drawer handle. The device is as expected. After returning the drawer handle, there was a little delay.

👤I chose the slightly more expensive version because it has a nice screen that gives you instant acknowledgement that the unit is on and working. I only tested it and it comes with a carrying case, you can attach it to your belt or loop. I ordered mine from the United Kingdom. I was unable to register my first unit for the warranty because the date of manufacture was missing. I was sent a new unit after contacting both Orbital Satcom and ACR. Make sure the date of manufacture is on the box.
